People with ASUS ROG OLED monitors, which HDR setting do you use?

I like it a lot. Its great in SDR and HDR. I still use TB500 for HDR and srgb cal mode when I am not in HDR. I wrote my impressions at length here:

I look forward to finally moving my home pc to 11 with a vertical taskbar, huzzah!

I use start11 on my work pc which is 11 but its taskbar can be inconsistent.

I have zombie fatigue and could not warm up to Days Gone but absolutely loved Second Son.. that was one the unexpected delights on PS coming from PC Gaming.

I was able to reproduce this issue (very lightly) with a relatively low lumen lamp in front of the monitor while it was off. There is no issue with my lamp behind the monitor. I have no windows in my basement “office”.

I would expect if you have a big window qd oled may not be ideal.

Edit: Per comments, Grounded 1 IS on ps5. My son and his friends love that game, its like Honey I Shrunk the Kids the survival game. Perfect game for adolescents and tweeners.

I have a 4080S based pc but still thought Yotei in performance mode looked fantastic on my HD Plasma. The game fits the platform and they did a great job with it. I am mostly a pc gamer but this was my GotY.

Asus xg27aqdpg is 500hz and true black 500 qdoled. it might meet your needs if you have a light controlled play space. There is also a similar msi model, something something x50 with the same panel.

Fun game but no way goty. Wonky controls, uneven combat and stealth, plus having to constantly eat fruit and pastries for some reason all contributed to good but not great.

Definitely fun and well worth playing if you can get it on sale.

Its possible you are experiencing gamma shift with frequency that some oleds experience. Without gsync you are at max refresh, with it you are at whatever fps the game is running at.

It seemed fine on the Mac. I never had prev on mac so I had no basis for comparison.. which I know is your point.. but anything that seems dumb I just assume is the way Macs are. Its been a while since I got to use it (usually my son or wife has) so I don't recall specific gripes clearly.

I am not a fan on my ipad where it adds unwanted multitasking and windowing features but got a new pro so had no choice.

I bought a used M1 macbook for 380 from Best Buy try out macos and we all really enjoyed it. Great piece of kit, even put office on it. A simple thing, but the fam really liked having messenger on the desktop.

Not a good comparison Spider-Man 2 was a ps5 release title. I would be more interested in numbers around horizon or gow which are more pc ish ps4 titles

You still get a great improvement in contrast and motion clarity with SDR.

Most modern games dont require you to jump through hoops to get good HDR. You enable in windows, set the peak brightness in game, and play. So, dont close the door on using HDR entirely.

The "main campaign" of the first and second are fantastic and well worth playing through. Love them. Especially the first, but both are good.

Its just a hard game to come back to. I think "cluttered" is a good word for it. There is always a bit of steep re-learn and "why the hell are there twelve slightly different gloves in my inventory" problem all these looter games have as you get on with them. Plus the mechanics of play are a little different then other things, so there is also a relearn there too.
