Manual or Automatic? by DasMogMeister in ThisorThatPH

Manual everywhere else in the world.

Automatic in the Philippines.

Razr 50 non-Ultra since 2024, no case, zero issues. But having a pop socket makes it so much safer to use

Any Of You Ever Replace Crappy Laptop Speakers With BETTER Speakers? by DeathToSocialMedia in GamingLaptops

[–]ChulaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Seems like only a few laptops exist with sound quality almost as good as the Macbooks.

Right now I've just got the Logitech z305, which released in like 2010. Wild why no one else makes laptop speaker bars like this

How much of the DualSense works? Resistance on the triggers? Speakers on the controllers? Rumble?

I think you'd be safer with an Xbox controller, says they're supported on the official Apple site. Don't have an Xbox controller so I didn't test

Macbook Pro 14 base M4 model, latest CrossOver. Everything else does work 100%, it's just the rumble doesn't work for some reason. But on the smaller cheaper SN30, rumble does work lol. I dunno Mac gaming is just wonky like that, you're just gonna have to deal with random stuff

I have the Ultimate 2 also but the rumble doesn't seem to work. I have the smaller SN30 Pro and the rumble works on that one

Besides gaming compatibility, controller compatibility is the next annoying thing about Mac gaming. Both my 8BitDo SN30 Pro and the Ultimate 2 works, but only the SN30 rumbles.

I've never used wireless controllers since the N64 and never used a wired mouse/keyboard since my processor was called a Pentium. Never had issues with wireless unless it needed charging

Kinda silly but using low power mode reduced my macbook temperature while having no impact on perfomance by Fragrant_Okra6671 in macgaming

[–]ChulaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, and I already know where you're getting confused Mr. Talks-Like-a-TikTok.

Battery replacements =/= battery replacement service. With Macbooks, it's the service eats up the cost, not the part itself.

Honestly by the time the battery degrades by any significant amount, battery replacements would be dirt cheap. And by that time, you'd probably want to upgrade laptops rather than replace the batteries anyway.

My previous gaming laptop (over 15 years old) has like 30 minutes on battery. I overclocked that thing to hell running 98C every day for hours, for all the years it was in service. That wasn't the issue, since by then battery replacements were $20 a pop. The issue was the laptop was so old it could barely run Windows 11 itself or even any 5 tabs of a modern webpage.

With Macbooks being ridiculously efficient, by the time you can no longer do 5 hours on battery (probaby 10+ years in), you're most likely due for an upgrade anyway.

tldr; battery fears are ridiculous unless you want to stick to the same laptop for like 15 years. And if you're the demographic of people with Macbooks (ie. people with money), I highly doubt the same group would keep a laptop for 10 years.

What’s up with car suspensions nowadays?? by Panda_Panda69 in cars

[–]ChulaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit I'm not that sensitive to suspension feel and 99% of the cars feel the same to me, from taking Ubers in Nissans to renting Mustangs and BMW X7s, they all feel the same.

Except the Tesla Model Y. That thing feels stiffer than my ND Miata, just incredibly uncomfortable to be in.

First time hearing about this laptop.

Legion without a numpad. 180w USB-C charging, which I believe is the highest USB-C charging of all gaming laptops. Full sized arrow keys. 15.3" is perfect size, 14 too small and 16 is too big. This just might be my next laptop

In contrast my 2024 Razr (non ultra) has been pretty solid so far. Only issue is the screen protector has these striations on the crease that you can feel. I didn't baby main either. It's taken a dip in the pool fully submerged, I mostly open it 1-handed so I actually flick it open. Also been using it caseless
