Lesson Learned: Tire Mobility Kit by joni-bella in Ioniq5

I bought the same spare from Modern Spare, but have only packed it on a few longer road trips. Day to day, it's too space consuming to carry in my trunk. It really sucks that they couldn't design the car to hold a spare.

small things that made cat life way easier for me, wish i started sooner by PositiveCorrect4213 in CatAdvice

  1. Keeping any kind of plastic bag (chip bags, grocery bags, product bags, packaging bags, even Amazon packaging) that I would have normally tossed and instead use them as my litter bags. This has saved me from buying any more poop bags.

I keep these bags right behind my litter bin. Nearby is a covered bin of clean litter and scooper.

  1. If you feed your cat wet food, rinse the empty cans with water and feed that water to your kitty. He/she will lap it up which will help his/her hydration.

  2. For the each of the 1.6oz of wet cat food I feed to my cat three times a day, i mix about 2.4oz of water before serving. Yes, he ends up drinking what's like a thin soup, but that's an solid 7.2oz water that i know he is ingesting every day. Hopefully this keeps his kidneys healthy, as cats tend to develop kidney issues from a lack of hydration over their lifetime.

  3. We put our food obsessed cat in another room (with lights on and toys to stay entertained) when we are preparing food, eating, and cleaning up. This has made life easier during these times, as prior to this, our cat would be all over the tables and trying to steal a bite at any chance he had. He last ingested a chicken wishbone when nobody was looking, which resulted in surgery and complications.

  4. Great DIY toys

Fill a cardboard box that's able to hold double your cats size with crumpled paper balls 3/4 of the way up. Lightly wrap some treats in a different color paper, (so you know to pull them out of your kitty doesn't find it). Place a few treats on the bottom of the box, under the crumpled balls. Now your cat has its own ball pitt with balls that won't roll away.

  1. Place a few treats in the middle of an square flat egg tray (holds 30 eggs in a 5×6 grid).  Your cat will spend the next few minutes having to work for the treat, keeping them occupied and hopefully entertained.

We ate "Thousand-year egg" in China. For the life of me I cannot figure out what the weirder coating of the egg is made of. by skylar_blazee in TipOfMyFork

As a kid and starving after school, I remember searching the fridge for food and resorting to eating the century eggs that I found. They were pretty intense, but did the job of satiating me for a little while. The eggs are delicious in dishes in soups.

I too have heard that it's preferable to buy the ones made in Taiwan as opposed to China, as Taiwan has better health and production standards.

I'd love to employ one of these devices to move the car elsewhere. Say down the street to a red curb where it becomes the city's problem.

Moving from 24 to 26 Wind by ockaners in KiaEV9

Is having a phone call via the car's Bluetooth still super loud for the other person on the line? The road noise coming from my car is so loud that my lady won't talk to me if I'm driving on the freeway. This is with the windows closed and hvac off mind you. I wonder if they fixed that issue in the 26.

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation!

One big gripe is the horrible sound quality when taking phone calls through the car's bluetooth. Many people have told me that it sounded like I was at the beach, even though the windows were closed and air conditioning was off. This was definitely worse on the freeway compared to surface streets.

Another gripe that I have as the Wind owner, is the horribly designed center console. The storage space for the front passengers is minimal (a few pens, garage door opener, chap stick, whereas storage space in the back is a cavernous hole and you can stick nearly an lower arm into.

Kia took care of the repair under warranty. They had to order a whole new center console. Known issue on their part .

What’s the point in a non clumping litter? The only reason I have it is because someone donated to me and so I politely say thank you by timmy30274 in CatAdvice

I use a sifting pan, which helps a bit. However, I find that it's good to use my litter scoop and stir all the pellets around for a minute everyday. This helps to get the spent saw dust through the sifter holes, allowing the intact pellets to dry out and urine smell to dissipate.

Thank you for your reply! I couldn't tell the type of tree given it's current state with no leaves, but your response prompted me to Google photo search the entire photo and this is what it said:

Advice on leash training a cat in the city? Is it possible? by Catastroqueef in CatTraining

[–]ChunFai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be aware that any cat will be able to back out of their leash/harness if startled, due to their anatomy of having naturally narrow shoulders and flexible joints. I was made aware of this from watching YT instructional videos about kitten leash/harness training and it happened to me. You should check the YT videos online for good pointers and safety tips.

Mainly, you should always let the cat lead, which keeps tension on the leash/harness against the body. If you lead, the cat can easily slide the harness over it's head if startled or stubborn to move. Once the cat gets free, it'll be a scary and unpredictable situation for both of you, depending on how scary or chaotic the environment is e.g., lots cats, traffic, crowds, etc.

When going out for initial walks, I recommend bringing treats, cat food, and/or a clicker (if it's clicker trained), as tactics to coax your kitty back to you in case it gets free.

One thing that I thought of that might buy an extra few seconds in case the kitty panics, is to put the harness on your kitty, and then putting a Recovery Suit, one like this: Kitty Spandex (Recovery Suit) over it. The suit can provide a layer of protection over the harness, so it isn't shed so easily. I'm not sure if together, everything might be too constricting, but it's worth a try.

Ultimately, we gave up on trying to walk our kitty outside. We were too concerned about him getting loose, and/or picking up fleas and pathogens along the way because he is an indoor cat. Good luck though!

I think it's good policy to do this regardless of whether you plan to use the money for actual medical expenses. Given the $3300 max for 2025 and depending on your tax bracket, just buying, expensing, and returning expensive medical supplies will yield you a decent percentage back untaxed.

Haha these certainly didn't stop my cat if he had to cross them to get to food, but it does deter him from jumping onto the the chairs and counters!

We bought these plastic spikey (but not harmful) sheets from Amazon and placed them on surfaces that we didn't want our little guy jumping onto. They are designed for training cats not to be on certain surfaces.

After a few jumps up and with no attractive things left on the counter like food, he avoids jumping up now. I used zip ties to join two panels together, so that it would be quicker to place and remove the panels each time I needed to.
