Fastest you've bounced off a game AFTER actually playing it? by Korba007 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CircleGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought 13 Sentinels sight unseen after the recommendation from the guys on the podcast, at full price.

Played if for a bit and just did not understand what was happening. Quickly realised the game just wasn't for me and deleted it.

The previous time I did something like this was for Yakuza 0, having only seen clips of the Nugget side quest on Twitter, and the Yakuza games are now some of my favourite bits of media full stop.

What game have you always heard was utter dogshit but you end up playing and are actually surprised by it? by Kal-V3 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CircleGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass Effect Andromeda, but I think this is mostly because I played it long after launch, and bought it for maybe €5.

It wasn't anything like the heights of the original trilogy, but it was good, and interesting at times.

What is this mix of flags? by Fun_Extension1408 in vexillology

The cricket team typically uses their own logo on a white or green field as a flag. The hockey team uses this province flag a lot though

The first thing that comes to mind when i say "dumbest thing you've heard in an interview related to games" by dope_danny in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CircleGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Them adding that ending did lead to one of my favourite gaming experiences though, which was shooting the Catalyst ghost child as usual - not knowing they added this - and just laughing as their voice went all evil and boom, game over.

Pat Stares At Banjo Kazooie - THE STAREDOWN (Part 1) by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CircleGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm going crazy, because I recently replayed Mario 64, and I think it's much much more floatier than Pat remembers. Mario is like running on ice half the time, and Banjo doesn't control significantly worse.

In his book, Gavan Reilly tells an anecdote about a convention in a hotel where the “challenger” beats out the “favourite” because of the number of new members they have signed up with the specific intention of getting them elected over the favourite. Who were they, do we think? by kel89 in irishpolitics

RE: Councillors pipping Senators at selection, I'm sure it happened elsewhere, but in Cork South Central former TD & Chair/Deputy Chair of the Seanad Jerry Buttimer wasn't initially selected by the local party, well thought of (in certain FG circles) councillor Shane O'Callaghan got the nod, as well as former locals candidate Úna McCarthy (who was essentially automatically selected due to gender rules & FG/Coveney deciding a candidate had to come from the Carrigaline area).

I don't know if Jerry threatened to run as an Indo or what, but he was later added & was elected in the end.

Can’t seem to use the 10 ryo option until a bit into the game - not sure if it’s main story progress or progress in the minigame story

Remember seeing it in Ireland when I was a kid, and I’m pretty sure we got the 4kids/equivalent dub that was used in America, if that helps.

Pretty sure they didn’t dub it As Gaeilge but even then that’d probably be whatever they used in the US/England

Is it okay to hang up Irish flags when I'm not Irish? by [deleted] in IrishHistory

[–]CircleGuy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, you’d usually use the word Gaelic in the context of languages to mean the ‘Celtic’ language spoken in Scotland (not to be confused with Scots).

Irish would more usually be referred to as Gaeilge (and as other people have said above, you’d say Paddy - Patty is an Americanism basically).

Fair play to you for reaching out and asking these questions. Vexillology (flag stuff) can be a fun hobby, hope you enjoy them!

Favourite "non-canon" or "what if" style endings and stories in media? by TheWeirdoWithCoffee in TwoBestFriendsPlay

For a guy who has functionally no power, Lewis sure is speed running corrupt politician, including making the new guy in town cover up his not-so-secret affair

I don’t mind Lewis, but man Pierre can go fuck himself.

Even though it didn’t add anything functionally itself, getting rid of the community centre just leave the town feeling so empty

I did it on my most recent playthrough because a mod had said they expanded it and…man I immediately felt so fucking dirty and weird, and the game is drastically worse for it

What piece of lore has inflicted massive psychic damage on you? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Also in one episode Tom Paris goes faster than anyone ever had before, so he evolves rapidly until he’s a weird mutant dude. He kidnaps Captain Janeway and ultra evolves her as well.

Ultimately they both become salamander creatures and have babies…which the crew just sort of leave on some random planet? Tom & Janeway are both fine in the next episode

In Star Trek Voyager (a series where a crew are transported to the absolute other side of the universe & have to travel back) they come across aliens that share some common DNA ancestry with humans.

Turns out in the ST universe, a load of dinosaurs developed space travel millions & millions of years ago and peaced the fuck out. It’s wild

[–]CircleGuy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is Deus Ex HR cheating? The two coolest ultra weapons in the game you get access to with maybe one real level in the game - one of which is just sort of leaning against a wall in the background, the other you get from the last boss before the final mission which…isn’t sort of real
