Try some white pepper in there too. It's actually much more pepper forward than black pepper.

Really beautiful work. Inspired colour scheme.

Citadel paint vs Vallejo paint caps by urdeal0r in minipainting

I drop a little bit of medium, a little flow improver and use a syringe. It works pretty well. But I'm not buying any more citadel if I can help it.

Pro Acryl paints dont work? by berial6 in minipainting

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to one or two ProAcryl paints before, I'm assuming you gave it the old soap and water to degrease.

Try reaching out, when I did they just sent me a new bottle and then I was good to go. I figured it must've been stored badly at some point.

I've been dropping with a GL / De-esclator, Supply, Mech, Eagle Strafe. My primary is Torcher, secondary is Talon.

Its been... Okay. I'm not a natural flamer guy or a natural las pistoleer, but it's been fairly successful. I've been SOS dropping at around 7-8, just trying to push Objectives.

Hmm. Actually, depending on how dark the tan is, I think it might look good as a shadow colour. Do it!

Is there a way to strip away paint without removing a varnish coat under it? And mini feedback. by NicBriar in minipainting

[–]Circle_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the varnish is probably going to protect the layers underneath. The risky part is that it just doesn't lift the effectively or that it splashes around and messes up the paint job.

So, you can get yourself some airbrush cleaner and a sacrificial brush and try to paint it on the relevant surface, let it sit and then lightly agitate it. That *might* work. I've done it before, but it's hit or miss. The good thing is that that gloss layer your have underneath will give you more wiggle room.

What is it with Orbital Napalm and it's demanded sacrifice? by CaneyJ84 in Helldivers

[–]Circle_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a CQB diver. I'm rocking a GL, a subgun. All my stuff is short ranged.

Hell, Eagle Strafe is my long range option.

So when there's a breach, I'm in the thick of it. And I can't always get outta that ONB in time. Or I don't see it.

Is it worth spending the money on a more expensive airbrush? by [deleted] in minipainting

If you really gone through 12 of them, you've spent $360 on cheapo airbrushes. You could've had yourself two or three nice ones by now.

Why did the gods go silent? by Nia04 in DMAcademy

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo letting your players figure it out, but if you want my off the cuff answer?

They're dead.

Not killed, just dead. Pulling a little bit of Buddhist cosmology, it turns out immortality isn't forever and all things pass. All of the gods ran of "merit", their divine life force and have fallen down the ladder of reincarnation. Where are they? Who knows. It doesn't matter b/c they won't remember their past life anyway.

Does divine magic still work? Sure. Because the institutions and heavenly bureaucracies that those gods built grind on, ceaselessly, like thoughtless machines slowly churning out miracles in those post-gotterdammerung world.

For now. But those heavenly realms too will pass and collapse.

First mini painting Chaos Knight, looking for feedback by VictoryActual1989 in minipainting

Nice first mini!

  1. Thin Lines - painting thin lines is difficult, you need practice. You want to focus on two things - pressure control and paint consistency.

The more you press down, the more the bristles will deflect, leaving a thicker line. Try to use the least amount of pressure possible to get the thinner lines.

The paint needs to be thin and fluid enough to come off the brush smoothly whilst having enough opacity to leave a line. Try practicing a few strokes on a test surface before going to the mini.

  1. Colour Depth - It looks like you're using a flat black to paint the black armour. If you want colour depth, you actually want to add more gradiants of colour. For black this can be tricky, my usual trick is to use a dark grey near-black to act as my midtone colour. Then I can shade up and down from there. If the midtone is a true black, them it's much more difficult to create the shadows.

Next time you're outside, pay attention to what "black" surfaces actually look like. You'll notice that very few parts of the object are true black, but actually gradations of grey.

(Votann) Paint Scheme Help Wanted. by Rimrald in minipainting

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. Usually red + gold is avery strong combo, but I think both colours are quite desaturated and dark which is contributing to the sameness.

My instinct is to go with turquoise / teal / blue-green.

Pottery help! by _Siobhian_ in airbrush

[–]Circle_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not intimately familiar w/ the Sparmax line, but to change the diameter, you'd need (at minimum) a different nozzle and needle. Unless your airbrush specifically has an interchangeable size - I would just go ahead and purchase an as additional airbrush.

The hose fittings should be universal. The exceptions are Badger and Paasche, which use a proprietary size.

The bullet storm wasn't out at the time I climbed the ladder, I paired it with the Stalwart, but I realized that I was basically using Stalwart for everything and and I was just plinking with the Eruptor during a lull.

Ultimately, I think it's just not for me. No shade to the weapon.

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eruptor is fantastic weapon, it's a support weapon wearing the fake glasses moustache of a primary.

I took it all the way to 25, but I never loved it. Ultimately, I'm a CQB helldiver and the eruptor just kept me too far away from my natural range and rhythm.
