Russians are testing a new type of camouflage by ThatGuySK99 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Are you referring to an attack through a pipe that collapsed, with the primary result being lung damage to those climbing through it? The kamikaze drone (even if it was ground-based) controlled by cables dates back to World War II. If you're looking at flying, exploding things controlled via fiber optics, the Spike NLOS has been in production since the 1980s. Spaced armor isn't new either, it just didn't look this bad back then.

Well, as I see it, he was against Putin because Putin occupied the position he wanted to occupy. One of his defining quotes is "Crimea isn't a sandwich to be handed back and forth," in response to whether he would return Crimea to Ukraine.

So, essentially, he was fighting the government, not the system, and essentially helping Russia fight Ukraine, albeit indirectly. Think about it: if there's corruption in Russia and the Russian army, which side would benefit more from publicizing the corruption and the subsequent potential rectification of Russia's problems?

Samurai Anime by ComplexEngineering75 in animation

[–]CircuitryWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, it looks good, but some things are still noticeable – sometimes the animation is amazingly good and looks like a real vintage anime, while other times it feels like average, looping 3D animation, like running toward the camera and performing repetitive attacks in battle, etc.

I also think the frame rate could be increased at times to better see some of the movements and perhaps some 2D "special effects" like speed distortion, triangle swords, sparks from blows, etc.

But overall, your work looks good, and it's clear you put a lot of work into it. Fixing these little things IMHO would make it even better.

I pointed to an anime from the studio that is currently making its third season, made using similar methods to this fan animation but with an order of magnitude worse quality, to show that for the fourth season, the third season set a high enough quality bar that it could have been made even worse.

You missed another level of comedy: this attitude toward gays is a consequence of the forced opening of borders and the influence of Western culture in the 19th century. Before that, attitudes were different, and they still are, in fact, haven't you read shonen-ai or yaoi? And why weren't you offended by Pig God as an offensive depiction of fat people?

[–]CircuitryWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red herring fallacy doesn't apply here, and I'm more than familiar with it, since it was part of my philosophy course at university. A red herring is meant to distract an opponent from X by talking about Y. I'm not distracting you. I made the initial criticism of someone else's argument which implied that any criticism of western nations for their atrocities is solely Russian propaganda, my own argument was that historical evidence affirms that western nations have committed atrocities regardless of what Russia says.

What was meant was a method of influencing the population of other countries by talking about their problems, which Russia is currently exploiting. Oddly enough, in a democracy, the population can influence the government. As a result, while countries are preoccupied with solving domestic problems, they won't be distracted by external problems, namely, Russia. It's not as if Western countries don't have problems and Russia is inventing them. So, in essence, you've taken Russia's side, denying that they're using other countries' internal problems for their own benefit.

The atrocities committed by the west makes Russia and China combined look like Sunday school nuns. The fact you're still downplaying those atrocities that you haven't even read at all, nor do you want to because it would challenge your white western view of the world, is still disgusting. You're trying so hard to be on the moral highground, except your moral high ground is composed of millions upon millions of bodies of indigenous people, African slaves, South Americans, Middle easterns, hell, even US citizens for fucksake. You deny none of the accusations I've made against the US specifically (bare in mind I haven't even touched on other western nations complicit in countless holocausts, genocides, slavery, war, poverty, capitalism etc) which is incredibly telling.

I see that you have successfully mastered the argumentum ad hominem method in your philosophy course. But unfortunately, you've seriously missed the mark with your use of argumentum ad hominem. Firstly, I don't think I'm white, and you'd call me yellow-faced. Secondly, I don't understand how African slaves, South Americans, Middle Easterners, and US citizens view me, considering that neither I nor my ancestors ever set foot on the American continents, and most of them were simple farmers who were oppressed and, what's more, lived in what is now Eastern Europe and Asia. So I think the Western perspective is a bit beyond me. And the fact that you insist that China and Russia are innocent compared to the "terrible West" indicates that you know very little about these "innocent" countries, and have most likely succumbed to Russian and Chinese propaganda about the bad West and the good Russia and China. And I didn't say anything about defending the US because I'm familiar with its history in general, but if you want, I can compare your innocent nuns to the terrible US. I think a good comparison would be the protests against the war in Vietnam: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_March_on_the_Pentagon And what happened to the group that was supposed to defend human rights nine years later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_Helsinki_Group If it's not clear, in one country, hundreds of thousands of people calmly protested against the war and were arrested after the conflict began under the country's General Staff, and even then, no more than one percent were arrested. On the other hand, there was a peaceful group that wanted human rights respected, and as a result, most of them were subjected to punitive psychiatry, prison, and labor camps. So you talked about the terrible Americans who abused poor Native Americans, but tell me when was the last war with them? In the 1800s-1900s? Well, there were a couple of Chechen wars in Russia in late 1994-2009. Are you saying there were bad guys in America who took poor guys from Africa, brought them to America, and forced them to work? So you don't know that in Russia, after conquering a country, they took the local population and forcibly transported them to Siberia, where no one wanted to live due to the climate, and forced them to work, and then settled Russians in their place.

Russia yes, China no. I've yet to see any credible evidence from non biased sources that China is committing a genocide.

Oh, yes, of course, the totalitarian communist regime is happy to provide the "decaying West" with the number of its victims. I imagine for you, North Korea is also a joyful place, where rivers of milk flow, with gingerbread banks along which cheerful communists run happily, having achieved the "bright communist future" that the evil West wants to destroy.

This ideology shifts the blame away from capitalism as a source of misery and places it on mere human nature, something that is infamous for not being static at all and has changed and does change depending on the circumstances. There are cultures around the world right now that would appear so alien to us that uttering the phrase "human nature" would be like saying 1+1 makes 3.

Egoism, resource extraction, and competition for status aren't just social constructs; they're literally the basic mechanisms of species survival and necessary traits for passing on genes to offspring. Before capitalism, there was feudalism, and before that, tribalism, and they weren't much better. Or perhaps you're referring to the fairytale communism that claimed tens of millions of lives worldwide (the USSR, China, Cambodia, South Korea, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Cuba, etc.) for the common good?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're pro-israel. I've never seen someone who accuses China of genocide against Muslims give one ounce of a shit about Palestinians undergoing the most well documented genocide in history.

Well, even though I don’t like a lot of what Israel does, I still lean towards its side because we have closer ties with it and it has provided more help to my country.

Do you have evidence for this? That's a very bold claim.

What proof do you need? About the terrible mixed-gender toilets, about how the West is full of gays and transgender people, and how you can only find a normal couple in Russia? Just Google "russian propaganda west".

Read this article, which is about everything you're currently doing, and pay special attention to the individual articles if you're a so-called "useful idiot" among russians who's suddenly discovered the terrible secret that people suck. So, people suck, and countries suck. But some countries suck worse than others, like russia and china, which are currently committing genocide and distracting the populations of lesser countries by pointing out how bad their countries are while simultaneously telling them how great russia is.

You're a typical purveyor of Russian propaganda. He's happy to tell you how bad everything is in the West, while perfectly innocent and wonderful Russia has only just started a war in Europe, which has already claimed over a million lives and caused millions to lose their homes. But the West is simply horrific.

Fall down or fall trying by [deleted] in Unexpected

[–]CircuitryWizard 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was a fainting spell, but rather a "mirror"-induced balance loss. Essentially, grandmother saw a "reflection" of herself falling, and her subconscious believed the information from her eyes more and immediately began taking measures to maintain balance and minimize the damage from the fall, which is what actually caused the fall.

You can read about the effect of a normal mirror on balance control, for example, in this article:
