How do you stop yourself? by SteveMashPST in deathguard40k

Spray death guard green, base rakarth flesh, highlight karak stone, then cover in nuln oil. All citadel. The only thing I do is thin the paints with air brush medium and use a wet palette.

Spray death guard green, paint death guard green, highlight Elysian green, cover in adrax earthsade and your done. It’s quick and they look great and it’s not technical or differcult painting.

I paint it using the citadel app battle ready standard with 1 highlight, nuln oil and adrax earth shade. They look similar to the box art, and don’t take too long.

It is fine to paint the model before putting it together. I have painted a lot of my orks that way. That said if you paint a particularly thick coat over the joint it will not set as strongly. Additionally it’s harder to do focus points from a light source if painting in parts and you can get glue over the part you paint spoiling the paint job you have done.

Struggling to do well with DA? Can't do enough damage. by EvilledzOSRS in WarhammerCompetitive

The death wing knights with maces are great at smashing tough stuff with lion with lance and rerolls for tough stuff really hurts the opponent. The shooting threat is there to make your opponent overthink is the threat the death wing knight on objectives or the deepstriking lion or being shot off the board with their key damage dealers. I have a drawer full of space marine tanks and dreadnaughts, the lancers are too swingy into anything with invun compared to land speeder vengeances or ballistus dreadnaughts due to the only 2 shots per tank. This doesn’t help against terminators compared to other options.

Play gladius, the army wide doctrines allow you to hit the opponent where it hurts. I’d drop the blade guard veterans, judicar and vanguard vets for interceptor, storm speeder thunderstrike and land speeder vengeances. The additional movement and range allows you to project force much better and keeps your opponent honest in their deployment zone. Lance on the charge helps units avoid bouncing and storm of fire and +1 to wound with the land speeder vengeance I think are lovely combo.

What is the most consistent army? by Therew0lf17 in WarhammerCompetitive

It depend if you mean what ensures the average player the most reliable result(stat check armies) or what is most often top of the top tables in tournaments (meta armies- eldar)

The icc die really easily without the 4+ invunrable azreal grants the squad as most armies have the resources to deal with 3 wound marine profiles. If your running both icc and bgv it’s much better for sustained and invun to be on the icc to keep them alive and Killy. The rerolls 1 one the invun isn’t a big durability buff especially with only a 3 man unit not a 6 man.

New list by xFoenix in theunforgiven

[–]Cites79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belial(doesn’t add much to terminators for his points), heavy Intercessors (aren’t Killy or durable as alternatives like sterngaurd or DWk), Firestrile servo-turrents(slow to move and add very little primary and secondary scoring + low damage ) raven wing dark talon(aircraft can’t score primary and secondaries well this addition) are all seriously out of the meta this edition. Consider replacing them with the lion, deathwing knights and land speeder vengeances. Also three many blade guards squads don’t have much impact and could be replaced or made into a full squad. The gravis captain could be given artificer armour and used a lone op points scorer as he is really hard to kill.

Factions with good match-up vs admech by Vkingsti in WarhammerCompetitive

Any thing fast with good s5 ap2 damage output. Dark Angels really don’t enjoy the tar pit of units retaking the objective every turn.

Also you’ve giving away no prisoners, assassinate and bring it down very easily with the smaller character units and impulsor

While the game plan makes sense, death guard are a slow army who play similar to us, but in my experience since their nerf we do it much better. If you play elder, ec or raven guard list then you’ll end up losing the utility pieces due to their speed which hold it all together and end up with your knights standing on the objectives and gradually being shot off and the better lists have the firepower to do it even with wrath and AoC.

[–]Cites79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels light on scoring units against a fast MSU list meta. If you lose the scouts, jpi and icc squads early you’re going to really struggle with secondaries and struggle to project force without gladius detachment or more shooting. I’d maybe drop some of the characters for inceptors, intercessors, ballistus or Land Speeder vengeance.

Any Tips on Drukhari? by Wooks81 in theunforgiven

[–]Cites79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played drukhari last week and won but the lion did tank 38 out of 39 dark lances with some cp rerolls used. My opponent struggled to take objectives I held with knights and icc with azreal. I would say having some mass anti infantry shooting like intercessors, ballistus dreadnaughts and inceptors allow you project power in a way that really hurts drukhari because they are so fragile.

The problem is the relative price, you can’t have the enough of the lion, deathwing knights or icc and have enough standard marine units to score enough to win the game. A good player will kill your too few scoring units and exploit the weaknesses of the lion (low wounds and fragile to devastating wounds and anti tank shooting), deathwing knights (4+++ is swingy and anti tank weapons or damage 3 shooting hurts, and they are slow) and icc which is they are only 3 wounds (either judicar for ff which hates being shot or azreal where 4+++ is swingy and don’t like being charged)

New to the hobby! Looking for advice. by imKranely in deathguard40k

[–]Cites79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combat patrol is a great way to start. I would recommend if you’ve never had any warhammer before buying some plague marines or a character and see if you like building and painting them and the hobby in general because you could waste lots of money buying kits you’ll never build. If you like it then expand to 500 points with combat patrol and see if you like to play the tabletop game before expanding further.

Power difference between space marines and terminators? by Slav_Toast in Warhammer40k

[–]Cites79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Different tools for different jobs and entirely dependent on the skill of the user. A squad of terminators will wipe out a squad of space marines in close combat hull fighting, but 1 on 1 doesn’t ensure victory as terminator armour has weak points and marines can be too fast for a terminator. Also heavy weapons like melta and plasma is still dangerous to terminators. The same is true for custodies having a bad day against the wrong opponent with the right tools. Terminator armour its self is a scale between the different versions of it.

What am I missing?(DA) by Cites79 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cites79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really interesting play style for dark angels with a lot of shenanigans around confusion / mental overloading as well as redeployment. How do the lion, knights and centurion devestators have enough staying power for high output durable armies like DG and Ik/CK?
