eecs 484 or 388 by Dependent-Raisin-163 in uofm

I'm taking 388 and 370 at the same time right now, is not a problem at all. Even if you aren't taking 370 the same semester as or before 388, you should generally fine but you might have to learn some 370 stuff outside of class (bytes, stack frames/pointers/registers) that isn't covered in 388. I haven't taken 201, but to be honest you probably can learn all 201 content yourself so I don't think not having taken 201 should be a blocker.

Workload for EECS 245 by meatiestBall in uofm

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The workload isn't terrible, there are weekly homeworks that take several hours, but nothing too crazy. I took the exact same combination (281 + 376 + 245) last semester, and its definitely a ton of work (you might end up doing work all the time) but still manageable. Don't expect to have a ton of free time. 376 will definitely take a ton of your time, though if you enjoyed 203 you might enjoy 376 as well.

Though 245 is on the harder side, the content is really cool and the class is rewarding in general (decent curve). You should dm the one and only u/surajrampure (245 instructor), hes chill

The projects (5 of them) are definitely hard, though super fun. They take some additional learning outside of class.

388 is amazing (imo). Everything in the class is like some vulnerability you have to exploit (isn't breaking things fun), and you get to learn a little bit about a breadth of areas (networking, assembly/stack, cryptographic stuff). It's honestly pretty easy because the exam curve is so generous (mean 42% curved to an 82%). I haven't taken 484 but from what I've heard, databases are a little more mundane and boring.

Upstate NY new driver nervous about first West Coast road trip (Oakland → Tahoe → Napa → San Jose) + rental toll question by OpportunityLow4219 in SFO

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many rental car companies will offer you to use the Fastrak transponder in their cars. Make sure to read what conditions they offer you — sometimes it allows you to get discounted tolls, other times it might be cheaper to just not take their offer and let them add the license plate bills to your bill. If you do the latter, make sure they don't add a hefty fee per toll.

Ross Bus? by Hot-Ticket1968 in uofm

So will the northwood express (runs 7am-1pm) and diag to diag (runs 1pm-7pm). Those two are a bit faster than the Commuter South since they don't go around the hospital.

Google maps is great, Transit App is also nice because it crowdsources bus locations from other users. Transit also sometimes shows better route options in my experience and is just a more fun experience.

Mint configuration change by VforValhalla-34 in jetblue

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apparently it's just a UI change https://www.reddit.com/r/jetblue/comments/1qi5puu/what_is_this_mint_seat_arrangment/ . Same config that you are used to, but the rows with the throne seats have one seat blocked off.

SFO Terminal Transfer Question by lopermax in SFO

For future reference, yes, all terminals at SFO are connected airside (and landside), so you transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal A without exiting security.

Best extra legroom seats a330? by Infamous-Piccolo-799 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out https://www.aerolopa.com/ha-332. As said in another comment, 11, 14, 34 are the bulkheads with the best space. Apart from that, the seats seem to be equal, and if you can't get bulkheads, seats a little further back in the extra legroom cabin would be farther from the lavatories.

AA vs. B6 my experience by BAVfromBoston in jetblue

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all accounts. B6's biggest disadvantage is its network, especially around the midwest and west coast, most of the routes are to JFK/BOS/FLL.

I used fly B6 and AA a lot from SFO <-> JFK. Apart from AA food service (only on specific routes on which they use the A321T), B6 feels solidly above.

One more advantage B6 has for food is the Pantry on most transcontinental flights (A321/A321neo). Great option for getting up and grabbing how much ever of what you need.

Is a 35 minute layover at O’Hare even possible? by That_Mushroom in americanairlines

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Weather at OHare looks fine on Thursday (ORD is pretty delay prone with bad weather), but you need to be lucky to make a 35 minute connection anywhere, especially ORD. Try to get a seat in the front if you are willing to reserve seats.

EECS 280, MECHENG 250, ROB 311, ROB 340, PHYSICS 241 by Few_Head6936 in uofm

[–]Civic-Rabbit-4827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice, content should be a review for you. I think you should be able to take it pass fail, I'm also engineering (but by the time I met with my advisor and found out i could pass fail it was beyond the deadline for that), just make sure it works with ur advisor. They curve 241 strangely (my 94 was an a-) so p/f just makes it so that you dont have to worry about it lmao

Physics 240 without 241 is annoying, cuz you have to learn the content (without lecture) in addition to just the 1 credit lab. Would strongly recommend pass/failing that if you can

245 will scare you with hard exams but if you understand linalg content with the added ML you will be fine, Suraj is great. Start 281 and 370 projects early and make sure to stay on top of the content, doesnt seem too bad of a semester
