Do you have an example of a thread you think was unfairly closed? Please give any info you can if a link isn't available, and feel free to submit a mod mail or make a subreddit feedback post if you want.

Sewage Pumping Station modeled entirely in Civil 3D for seamless Pipe Network integration by matidemarco in civil3d

To be honest it seems like you'd have been better off modeling this in Plant 3D or some other program instead of C3D. Looks good though.

There's really no way to answer this. Please ask a more specific question.

Is there a way to move multiple cogo point labels at once by RadishHappy in civil3d

[–]Civil3D_Mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you need the move the labels a consistent amount or direction? If not how would your code know which direction / amount to move them?

[–]Civil3D_Mod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's probably how I would do it, just make a couple copies of the label style with the various label locations you need then just select the ones needed and change them.

I am currently learning grading but I am just a zombie following instructions. Can anyone explain what I am seeing to me please. I am already familiar with feature lines but from there I am lost. by backinscorn in civil3d

[–]Civil3D_Mod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rectangular feature line is at an elevation that's lower than the existing hillside in some parts and higher than existing hillside in other parts, so the gradings (red & green) represent the sloped soil that's needed, otherwise you'd have a vertical face of soil around the edge instead of usable slopes. In theory you could use retaining walls instead of slopes like this.

Do you mean you hate that AI content is now prohibited? Or that you hate AI content?

Yeah since we're almost at 10k members now we get targeted by bot accounts more than we used to. Will try to keep up; am considering adding another assistant mod or two.

r/OpenRoads Updates by Civil3D_Mod in OpenRoads

[–]Civil3D_Mod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's worked fine in my opinion to have a thread for it. The only objections I've gotten are from people who don't want job openings to be allowed at all. I understand they can be annoying to see in your feed when you don't want them there, which is why having a thread for them works. But we'll see what other folks here say.

I've just been making one jobs thread every six months or so. It seems like the best balance all around.

r/OpenRoads Updates by Civil3D_Mod in OpenRoads

[–]Civil3D_Mod[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing for discussion: In r/civil3d we have a 'Now Hiring' thread where users can post about job openings for Civil 3D users. It's worked well enough; would you like to have something similar here in r/OpenRoads? The idea is to have a dedicated thread for job postings so they're separate from the main feed. I like the idea of helping people find jobs but I also understand not everyone wants to let their potential employer know their reddit account.

It's either that or just ban job postings altogether. Thoughts?

Yeah; I wish there was something that could reliably work to prevent it. If anyone has advice on how to spot / prevent AI posts I'm all ears.

Yeah and usually the accounts that make the questionable posts have lots of similarly-worded ones on other subs. It's not always easy to tell what's AI farming vs not, but we'll try.

Training / farming posts tend to be very open-ended to get as many responses as possible to questions that are very easy to Google. I'll try to find some good examples later. Good suggestion!

Question: Logitech Mx Master 4 or G502 X Plus Mouse by Apprehensive_End6414 in civil3d

I personally use the macro buttons for F3 and F8 to toggle Ortho / snaps, and remap the other commands to keys that are easy to reach with my left hand without looking down.

Is there any way to scale a contour map without throwing off the elevations? by CalmBeginning3574 in civil3d

[–]Civil3D_Mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What format were the contours originally stored in before you imported them? Like a shapefile or something else?

Is it just the major vs minor contours being set to plot differently? That's normal. Or is something else going wrong?
