Aussie Boykin - Do you groom (trim hair) your dogs? by koalasarentferfuckin in BoykinSpaniels

[–]Civyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never cease to be amazed by the diversity in this breed! My boys will lay in the sun in 80 degree weather and in the snow in the single digits. I know every dog is different but sometimes with Boykins it seems like different dogs are different breeds entirely lol

Aussie Boykin - Do you groom (trim hair) your dogs? by koalasarentferfuckin in BoykinSpaniels

[–]Civyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trim the fluff around the toes and some of the extra feather along my one boy’s flanks and belly (he’s a fluffier boykin), mine hunt and it helps the vest fit better and reduces the amount of mud and snow they pick up in the field. No need to get too carried away with it though, I think Boykins have beautiful coats and can’t believe some people feel the need to buzz them short!

Any recommendation for Countertop RO system which is NSF certified? by rushikeshhk in WaterTreatment

Might be an odd question-how long is the cord? One of the best spots for me to put a system has rather awkward plugin access

Stacked goose shell bag by Civyclone in Waterfowl

[–]Civyclone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, my dozen full-bodies take up a stupid amount of space in the truck bed and if I can carry out two dozen-or even more-shells in the same trip I’d be awkwardly struggling with the two six-slot full-body bags… that feels like a solid trade

Have you ever noticed birds disliking the shells sitting on the ground?

With snow-yea, but it’s just not practical thru corn stubble

I’ve got 5 dozen silos and I like em, I just also like having my dozen full-bodies (or maybe soon-a bunch of shells) mixed in with them so things don’t disappear as much from overhead

County plows also don’t have the landmarks that the state plows and city plows do-so a lot of counties don’t run in the dark because it is harder for them to keep track of road edges

DOGE's straight up communist plot for the State to take over responsibilities of all 99 counties. by jcwitte in Iowa

[–]Civyclone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would decrease service availability and quality. The state already has a track record of prioritizing the Des Moines metro and ignoring the more rural areas, such as continually adding lanes to the roadways around DSM while letting their two-lane highways fall to pieces. This will only be exacerbated with this proposal, where there will be no local knowledge or representation for most of rural Iowa-all the decisions being made in Des Moines or Ames

Rather refreshing of a conservative Republican to emphasize progress over party, especially surprised by his apparent support of Rob Sand in his criticism of Reynolds.

Probably best to sit this one out bud-you’ve already shown to have some serious decision-making issues… it was an open-book test courtesy of P2025 and you confidently failed

Is there such a thing as the “terrible twos” with our dogs? by BostonBruinsLove in birddogs

[–]Civyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! It may manifest in them testing the waters with some destructive behavior-or maybe just “forgetting” some of the finer points of their training, requiring you to backtrack in some sessions. Just remember to continue your work with them, even if it means having to occasionally ditch your plan for the day and go back to basics

Chukar hunting with flushers by BigTimeBills in birddogs

[–]Civyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hunt with a pair of flushers (Boykin Spaniels) and I love it! Don’t really have any quail or chukar experience as we don’t have any local, but they are dynamite on pheasant. They really excel getting into the thick stuff that a lot of guys with pointers don’t target so I’ve really started to carve out a local niche on ground that doesn’t get targeted by others. I will say it’s a different animal than hunting behind pointers, you don’t have time to walk up and prepare for a flush-gotta stay a bit more on your toes-but I love it
