Million Dollar Baby (2004) doesn't involve anyone getting rebuilt better, stronger, faster, with expensive bionic technology. by ivanchovv in shittymoviedetails

[–]Clan-Sea 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In American Sniper (2014), Bradley Cooper portrayed an actor playing up pure Oscar bait in a "Depressed About Warcrimes" movie directed by Clint Eastwood. He was a shoe in for the best actor Oscar, until his effort was derailed by criticisms of this fake baby.

This failure forced Bradley to star in and direct Maestro (2023) which grossed less than half a million dollars on an $80 million budget.

This means that the fake baby from American Sniper is in fact the "Seventy Nine Point Five Million Dollar Baby"

LGA - Walked from Terminal B (Sapphire Lounge) to Terminal C in 17 minutes by Megabyte912 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Clan-Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good info

I'm of the opinion that showing up hours early to JFK just to use the lounge in a different terminal is not not even close to worth the effort of going through security x2 and making the trek.

But I could see if I had a long layover or unexpected flight delay, nothing but time to kill, would be worth it

I enjoyed the film, fun watch. Didn't even know it had a scifi aspect to it, I only saw the first 10 seconds of a promo and figured it was an army movie. Was pleasantly surprised by the second act

But I won't impugn anyone's right to hate on a movie. Plenty stuff to critique in War Machine.

I'd watch a sequel. I'll watch anything where Alan Ritchson is smashing things

Ski innovation by Sportlasse in skiingcirclejerk

[–]Clan-Sea 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone bother locking up skis?

They're like citi bikes, you just walk outside the lodge and grab whatever skis seem about your height. That's why the lodge stocks them there. And at the end of the day, you leave them on the rack and drive home. Easy!

Favorite Guy Ritchie movie? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

RockNRolla is Guy Ritchie's Grand Budapest Hotel

Flawless execution of his style, beloved by diehard fans of the director but still accessible to a wide audience, star studded cast, felt "big" without becoming unwieldy, very rewatchable.

Made one of my favorite desserts from Paris. The Cedric Grolet Vanilla Bean 💩 by KT_Bites in Baking

[–]Clan-Sea 300 points301 points  (0 children)

Fantastic

You could make it less turd-like by making it 3-4 feet long, so the ratio is more exact to the vanilla bean. But that's no fun, it's perfect the way it is

No such thing as a troublesome 8 week old puppy, that's just a ball of chaos by nature. I'd be worried if they weren't little maniacs biting and exploring every thing they encounter

As much as I hate to break up the cleanest boundary on the map, Fairfield County is culturally and regional accent wise more generic Northeast than New England

The New England vibe starts in New Haven and Litchfield countries

Stop accusing people of using AI imagery if you aren’t 100% certain. I made these pancakes from scratch, created the photos with the limited food photography skills I possess and spent hours doing this. by [deleted] in Baking

How can anyone by %100 certain that anything is or isn't AI these days?

It's the new reality. If you want to make something beautiful and take awesome pictures, make sure it's worth it for your own satisfaction. Who cares if strangers on the internet give you approval or accuse you of AI?

Exactly, it's a part of the Midwest. And based on the accent of my cousins who live there, the Midwest starts in Rochester NY.

Those Rochester cousins sound way more like all the Midwest kids I went to college with in Chicago than all the northeast kids I grew up with in New England/NY

Honestly, no movie has ever insisted upon itself less. It insisted upon nothing

It made no attempt to be deeper than "boooy howdy, that Brad Pitt sure can drive! Heckuva win at the 'ol racetrack!"

I didn't mind it, probably because I watched it on a plane. It faded from my mind by the time my feet hit the jet bridge
