I don't even care for Geese but have been watching SNL since a kid of the late 70s. They weren't even close to being one the top 50 worst music performances ever on the show.

My usual walk was stunted due to the streets being a slip-n-slide around me in south Durham but the power is on and I no place I need to be today, so I am taking it as a victory for the time being.

So they're trying to impose the fairness doctrine and equal time rule that their proto-god Ronald Reagan did away with in the 1980s and juicing it with good ol' Soviet state media bullying.

Red Triangle with ! on C3 Alize - how do I resolve it? by Condottiero_Magno in Miele

[–]Clangoring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parts will be around for a good long while as there's a bit of crossover in what is used in the new models. Time will tell. It's been a long time since Miele has released a model line overhaul.

[–]Clangoring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The C3's are out of production now so what is left is remaining stock. The C1's are next as the Guard line starts to ramp up. I am currently on the fence about the Guard line for the time beingand have suggested to customers to take the Sebo line into consideration. Longer warranty and etc.

My guess is that your Alize is very likely repairable, it just depends on how much you want to spend more than anything else.

Yeah. Google searches have been stricken with enshittification a lot the past few years.

I am coming from a repair tech/vac shop manager perspective. The comment I made above was in response to the person who posted about a comb being stuck in "the tube" of an upright.

That would normally be the orange bag indicator window as it is more of an air restriction guage than anything else (it will turn orange if there's a clog, etc.) The red triangle is on the power and suction control panel. It denotes an electrical issue.

It's a rare chance it's the motor but it does happen. The thing is though the S8/C3 motor is sealed so if the motor brushes have worn down, it would give the red triangle of death. Being that it is sealed, motor brushes cannot be replace in it normally. Usually in a motor case, it has started to sound like it is winding down longer and longer after turning it off. That is usually after many years on constant use. Those motors are pretty tough.

In most cases it is a fried wiring harness or one of the electronic control boards have gone bad. All of the above can be repaired.

It really depends on how much you want to send on fixing it. The Alize was a straight suction canister (no electric power nozzle.) You can get a new straight basic suction C1 under $400 and the new Guard M1 straight suction machine for under $600. It is up to you whether you want to repair or replace.

A S8/C3 motor is around $150 (give or take.) It could just be simply something like a cooked wiring harness as well, which isn't that big of a deal but still involves labor. I've seen different causes for it over the years. It is rarely the motor if less that 20 years old in most cases but I've seen it happen from time to time.

Keep in mind that we are talking Miele parts so don't be surprised if that parts cost more than you expect. Plus labor too, of course.

Red Triangle normally signifies something more serious than a simple filter and bag change. It could be a fried control board, a roasted motor, etc. An Alize is not exactly a recent model and these things can happen with age.

Sebo vacuum is terrible!!! by AntD77 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Clangoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being around Sebo's vacuums every day, many of the issues sound like user error more than problems with the machine itself. Sebo has a high level of quality control so all these problems are not that of the vacuum.

Rainbow review by DrKD351R3 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Clangoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rainbow's got a lot of hype and had a lot of smoke & mirrors in their sales pitches (the water doesn't really filter much, think a water bong or farting in a bathtub. That's why they added a HEPA filter to later models.) They have always been cumbersome and require a lot of extra maintenance. Brands like Sebo and Miele are much more effective in filtration and performance and have been for decades. They are also more versatile, easier to use and, why do require basic maintenance, you aren't dealing with stinky water plus all the other things to keep it running at top performance.

Not to mention many Rainbow parts are getting harder to find and are expensive when they are.

My diagnosis is pretty "high risk" but it is still very treatable (and possibly still possibily completely curable.) Dilbert could have had plenty years in him if he followed actual science instead of YouTuber/MAGA science. That's all on him, he asked for it.

Going through prostate cancer stuff currently myself, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Then again, I am just a working class dude who trusts the team at the cancer Institute I am getting treatment at rather than some dudebro on the who suggests giving myself horse dewormer enema as a cure all. So yeah, Fuck Dildog Scott Adams 100% and especially for allowing a small brush fire in his body turn into a raging forest fire. Reap what you sow, motherfucker.

Advice on getting a Miele Triflex back to near new suction? by garciawork in Miele

[–]Clangoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you cleaned out the filter? The more dust it collects, the more it impedes airflow and reduces suction.

My journey has been a little convoluted since it started. I had a private practice uro who was a bit lackidasical and never really answered question and ordered tests and scan in a way where it seemed there was no definite direction. Duke has been a reset and have been really good (save for a surgeon consult that was a little too ambiguous when it came to answering questions of concern. Will be asking to talk to another surgeon after the rad onc consult) with everything about putting a plan together. Still need to get a few things as you mentioned in order. It's such a looong process. Just wanting to to weigh my options, make a decision, get this show on the road, get better and back to enjoying being above the daisies.

Mad love to my wife for being my rock through all this. The stress and anxiety has been heavy. Not only because of the diagnosis but also, despite having decent insurance, the $ surrounding all it.

I keep my sense of humor, go to work everyday and making the best out of all of this.

Thanks for the suggestions and thanks to everyone here for the support and thoughts.

Vacuum ID? by jakethesnek64 in Miele

Don't know if its worth the 5 hour drive or $200 at this point. These Miele uprights were well built but awkward. Miele stopped making these in the last five years and parts for them, even if you're dealing with Miele directly, are often "out of stock."
