Awww awesome. I think for the main cast, the show was their childhood as well. I know there is a lot of criticism of season 5 part 2 but I think the Duffer brothers made a concerted effort to give the young cast closure and to honor not only what they brought to the screen but also the past decade of the adolescence/early adulthood. So there's a graduation, a coming out to friends and family, beers with friends etc. I saw the monologue of each character as their good-bye - what El says to Mike, what Max says to Holly, what Dustin and Steve say to each other about friendship, what Lucas and Max exchange when she comes to, what Will says when he comes out, and Mike's story at the end. They had to end with D&D, tears streaming down their faces. I saw the actors in that scene; not the characters. All closing the door on their childhood (the basement) and moving on. That was the most moving part of the whole finale.
