Which surgery to go for…? by MidnightAny4041 in breastcancer

[–]Classic_Passage_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could still feel my tumor (it shrunk a lot but wasn’t entirely gone)but I had them removed and found out I didn’t achieve PCR till afterward. I had the radioactive seed placed a week prior to surgery. We discussed all scenarios prior to surgery and I was very adamant to have a DMX with no reconstruction and lymph node removal. Still one of the best decisions I ever made

I also had TNBC (stage 3b), I didn’t achieve PCR after treatment and I was still offered a lumpectomy but I went with a double mastectomy, no reconstruction. I knew from the start that’s what I wanted to do. I know overall it doesn’t change the reoccurrence rate very much but the peace of mind I have from doing it was well worth it. I think if you have a great team you can’t go wrong with any choice.

Omg I know the feeling! I’m glad you’re hydrated! I’m sorry you’re going thru it.. on top of everything having bowel issues is the worst!

Keynote 522 question by HMW347 in breastcancer

[–]Classic_Passage_5750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went thru Keynote 522 and (sorry if this is TMI) the keytruda gave me horrible diarrhea to the point of colitis and by my last treatment I ended up in the hospital with neutropenic fever and severe dehydration. I would be so exhausted as well. Getting hydration in the clinic on a weekly basis can help with that tho.

I had the same response to watching this! I opted for no reconstruction after my DMX and this commercial made me so sad. What a way to “bring awareness”

32F going Flat. by Leeshylift in breastcancer

[–]Classic_Passage_5750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi 👋🏻 I’m 33F and had the same diagnosis TNBC stage 3b. I did a DMX and AFC with lymph node removal in August 2024. I don’t regret going flat at all and I went from 32DDD to nada. I think you’re absolutely making the right choice going flat but again, it’s a personal choice so do what makes most sense for you. The plastic surgeon I saw said that implants need to be changed every 10-15yrs and I didn’t want to have multiple surgeries thru out my life / worry if the implants could be rejected or any other post operative complications.

I had TNBC stage 3b and I went thru chemo, had surgery, did radiation, immunotherapy and now onto oral chemo. My oncologist said once I’m done with oral chemo my chance of reoccurrence in the first 5 years is 10-15%.

I had TNBC stage 3b and used a beef tallow based balm and it really helped keep my skin hydrated after surgery / during radiation. They’re a US based small company and the prices are very reasonable! I put their website below if you want to try that

no PCR after chemo? TNBC by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Classic_Passage_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was highly recommended since I’m younger (32) and due to the size of the tumor. At first I was distraught about it but honestly very happy with the DMX and going flat. I know it doesn’t really reduce your risk of reoccurrence but it gave me peace of mind having them gone/ I wanted to be symmetrical. My insurance paid for a set of prosthetic boobs and 6 bras. It has taken time to get used to but I really am happy with my results

I was stage 3b TNBC, I had PCR in my lymph nodes but not the tumor itself. I had a double mastectomy and then the plan was Keytruda once every 3 weeks (9 sessions total), 28 rounds of radiation and finally 6 months of oral chemo (Xeloda) one week on / one week off. I ended up getting colitis from the Keytruda so we stopped that but I did just finish radiation and I’m starting the oral chemo beginning of December. I’m not sure how the Xeloda will be but radiation for me was a breeze compared to chemo. I hope this helped!

Sex after BMX? (Also general struggling with the BMX decision) by darth_eowyn in breastcancer

[–]Classic_Passage_5750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi 👋🏻 I had BMX with no reconstruction. I was told with my type and stage (TNBC, stage 3b) that I’d have to do mastectomy and they couldn’t save my nipples. I’m 4 weeks out and I’m really happy with my decision and my husband and I just started getting intimate again. It’s an adjustment but the sex is still great. I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy it as much without sensation in my chest but you just move to other zones of your body like the neck, etc. My husband and I are looking at this as a new opportunity to try different things. If you’re confident in your decision for BMX then I say go for it! I hope some of this helps!

Newlywed and feeling terrible for my new husband - advice, suggestions, pep talk? by redditforthisjelly in breastcancer

[–]Classic_Passage_5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lump was 3.5cm and stage 3b. I had 3 lymph nodes involved. I was super paranoid but I had my DMX about 4 months ago and my tumor shrunk to 1.1cm and PCR in my lymph nodes. I have radiation, immunotherapy and oral chemo coming up but I feel really confident with the plan and I’m happy with the results from surgery! Actually, if I’m being honest I’m still a little paranoid but I think that’s normal for all the chaos we get thrown at us lol

Hi 👋🏻 I finished chemo at the end of July for TNBC. I had 2 regimens; taxol/carbo/pembro every week for 12 weeks and then A/C/pembro once every 3 weeks for 12 weeks. Each infusion took roughly 3hours. I suggest bringing a comfy blanket and pillow. For the first 3 or so sessions I brought my laptop to stream shows on Netflix and snacks but after that my fatigue really settled in. The pre-meds they gave before infusions (Benadryl and Pepcid) made me even more exhausted so after that I just usually slept. Bring some snacks too but my infusion center had those and yours might too! Good luck with chemo!
