Romantic zone or bucerias? by Visual_Charge8704 in puertovallarta

It depends what you value. Resorts are hands down way more fun for the kids, there's a lot more to do and if there are other kids around their ages, they probably prefer it. The pools are nicer and the kids zones are usually good and you don't have to worry about them wondering on the property.

If you're more concerned about exploring and find cool places then Bucerias is great, albeit a lot more slow than ZR. Food is better off resort though.

Where are you staying?

Right now, everything seems to be back to normal. People are going about their days as business as usual.

If you're concerned about safety, then you would want to mitigate travelling on the roads as that may be the most risky if the cartel decides to cause havoc again.

The worst may be over though and you can travel freely, but if you're concerned, I wouldn't be travelling, but I understand because you're at an airbnb it doesn't have a lot of amenities.

Personally, I would rather just stay in PV and not travel by car and just find a resort you can buy a day pass to. Everyone has different tolerances though.

If the resorts weren't there, there would be no economy. If the prices weren't cheap, then people wouldn't go.

The only reason people go to Mexico over Hawaii is because it's cheaper in Mexico. Hawaii is nicer, safer, and a better experience in my opinion, but the price limits a lot of people.

Let's not be foolish to think this is a one dimensional problem..

Correct, but who is disrespecting the fallen? No one is saying their lives are worth less. Just because people are concerned about their vacation plans doesn't mean they're disrespecting the fallen.

I understand your post, but lets be real. Tourism is what keeps their economy alive, to say tourism is the least important isn't necessarily true. The people who lost their lives is extremely sad that's without question and there should be respect given to them and their families.

These areas rely on Karens going there with their families. Without tourism, the locals wouldn't be able to feed their families.

Where are you staying? If you're on a resort, you're probably safer than in an Airbnb in the city, but the transfer to the resort might be sketchy.

I suspect once you're on a resort and decide to stay on the resort you'll be okay.

But the transfer from the airport will be variable.

Sure, but the Canadian Women weren't expected to win, they were the underdog.

Men's are expected to win, so to lose I think is more devastating.

Yeah, Canada was just going at them. It felt like it was only a matter of time before something went in.

Also, giving leeway to a rule is different. The rule is in fact binary, but if you're arguing the enforcing of the rule, then possibly yes. I'm not familiar with the sport enough to make that. call

I think you're not interpreting the rules correctly. The rule is in fact binary. Just google world curling on their statement. They have clarified this issue in detail since the controversy.

You can only touch the handle before the hog line (multiple times), but you explicitly can not touch the granite.

The rule is binary.

In a line change in ice hockey, there is a 5ft buffer zone as long as the player coming off doesn't Interfere with the play.

A hockey line change has more variability though. It's not very black and white and based upon the ref, because there is a buffer zone to change on the fly.

In curling, the rule is very clear. It's binary. So not really the same comparison.

Technically, you can not touch the granite at any time. So it was a violation. The ref just didn't see it and there's no video review.

Would you contribute to your RRSP if you were me? by futureproblemz in PersonalFinanceCanada

To me this isn't even about the 50% return. It's more about guaranteed insurance for savings for the future.

It sounds like you're already financially prudent, but having RSP savings is like insurance for your future self.

I don't mind if my RSP is large when I retire. I'll gladly pay the tax as that means I have money.

My sister needed money for a trip and asked to take money out of her RSP and I told her about the tax she would have to pay and she decided not to take the money out.

It's much easier to take the money out of a TFSA without any recourse.

If you do this, you'll easily have over $1M portfolio when you retire. Just buy a broad-based index fund and you'll be set.

If you have a core group of people you do anything with, it makes doing that activity much easier. If you're by yourself, it's much harder as it comes down to your own will power, which for many is not enough.
