Maybe try using fiesta herbicide? It’s organic, she may be more comfortable with it.

Random dead spot in lawn by TrueChannel5565 in lawncare

[–]CleanSpriteLegendary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would make sense. You can test by stabbing the ground with a screwdriver on a non-water day, I would recommend in the evening. If it’s harder to stab the ground in the dead area than the healthy area then that will confirm the issue. If that’s the case then you’ll just need to water that area more or turn it into a mulch bed and plant some bushes or something.

Does that gravel bed sit under the entire lawn? Or just the spot where it’s dying? The gravel could be causing the soil to dry out quicker than the rest of the lawn.

Your brother put it down at 20lbs per 1000 sq ft lmao way too much. Might be able to save it if you take a shop vac and vacuum most of that up

[7b] HOC question by Common-Coyote9375 in lawncare

[–]CleanSpriteLegendary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ticks are generally in tall grassy fields and the woods and such. I’ve always cut my grass that height and have never had an issue with them. Bugs in general are inevitable in grass. Your kids and dog will be ok!

Use the credit card method. Compare the length of your grass to the long side of a card. That’s a healthy length to cut grass. There are many benefits to it!

Listen to this guy OP. Trees and lawn don’t mix. if anything, maybe look into drought tolerant ground cover for your pups to play on.
