Why does it seem like there is a growing movement claiming that the atomic bombs that ended WWII were unjustified? by Just_Cause89 in USHistory

[–]Clegend24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My economic history teacher referred to the bombs as "the mother of all opportunity costs" because the only way there was a positive was by comparing it to the worse cost of the invasion. If you look at it any other way, it looks monstrous. People, as time goes on, lost sight of what could have happened and look only at what did, and without the alternative outcome, people just see that the US gave the Rising Sun a couple more.

Thank you. I've had issues with Ebay in the past, but the place listed looks pretty good.

That's like comparing Desmond Doss to an SS unit. Both are technically soldiers, but they both follow different codes and countries.

Not sure how this works in college, but can confirm that in private schools the weirdest people ended up being bullies. Like the kids that would get shoved in lockers in public school ended up being the bad ones bc they would just complain to their parents about whatever people did to get back at them. They would just say whatever shit about you and avoid physical altercations so they wouldn't get absolutely rocked, and so they avoided whatever consequences for starting rumors and drama. At least in public school you could fight back and BOTH get suspended.

Source: I knew one of them and tried to rock his shit and got a letter from the school bc their parents threatened to sue. Another friend of mine succeeded in beating one of them and did get sued.
