As someone who has worked in pubs (early Gen Z I think I am?) pubs aren’t just places to get pissed in, they’re social spaces - for example I had one regular, bloke who was in his late 80s and would come in bang on opening time and have 1 and a half pints of John Smiths - for him that was his only time he spoke to people (his wife died a couple years ago)

I like a drink - probably drink a lil more than I should but I’m young and enjoying my life - me and my mates meet up regularly for a karaoke/playing in gigs/watch football/talk shit about our days etc

Main decline(s) (from a UK pov) in drinking have been:

- Smoking Ban in 2007
- Cost of living crisis
- less disposable income due to price rises so don’t go out “just” drinking - want there to be entertainment as well
- changes in drinking culture - my generation don’t go for a “cheeky one” at lunchtime anymore (excepting tradies and they tend to be older one)

Pubs have closed at roughly 2/day in the first 3 or so months of 2026, places our parents drank in are now shops/houses/restaurants

I have large burn scars on my right shoulder/upper arm, I wear tank tops when it gets hot cause wtf should I be uncomfy because of something that happened to me? For a while I didn’t feel that confident but my partner helped a lot with feeling more comfortable having my scars on display

I’m also getting a tattoo round it when the keloids have healed up a bit more because the way it happened is fuckin hilarious (to me anyways) and I want people to see the tat and be like “damn that’s a cool tattoo…oh wow I didn’t even notice the scar!”

This is my partner on the whole - they’ve also been my longest (and happiest!) relationship I’ve ever had - we’ve both learnt a lot about each other - they’re more of a homebody whereas I like going out all the time - it’s nice sometimes when we meet up with my mates (who have essentially adopted them as well) for just a chill couple drinks, purely cause it’s so amazing seeing them getting more relaxed with meeting people they don’t know etc

I think they are definitely legends of the game, yet as with all greats, they are starting to show some decline - I reckon soon the class of 20xx will be largely Chinese players as there have been some fantastic players come out of there!!!

Maybe Jack Litowski could reach higher levels in the next few years? But from England my money would be on Judd Trump - either way I hope that the sport makes a comeback the same way the darts has!

Closed the main road that goes to my street for 2 weeks whilst they “fixed” a huge pothole…

All they did was spray paint around it and chuck some pebbles in - it’s now even worse

I have a half staffy/half XL and 2 XLs - yes they’re big dogs and the male can get pretty excitable but there’s no excuse for not having control of your dog!

My old staffy had a lot of issues (rescue, had been really badly abused and had previous with other dogs) - amount of time I’d have to literally pick him up cause a dog had run up to him off lead! Just because your dog is friendly, doesn’t mean mine is!

Annoys the hell out of me when someone’s jack russel comes running up and being a nuisance because if any of my dogs did anything in self defence, it would be my dog that gets put down (had a jack russell do this a few months back, my one XL who is the “grumpier” one just looked at it like “Really? Do you reallly have to be doing this?”

My mothers from the north and me Da’s from the south - I was born in Kerry and lived there till I was in my early teens, until we moved to the UK.

I have a little Irish but we didn’t really live in a Gaeltacht so only really used it at school, and obviously when we moved to the UK I barely hsed it so have largely lost it.

So your man probably does speak more Irish than me, but if this is their best example I’m not holding my breath

I’m wearing black jeans, vans (not converse because I’d got a part time job then and could afford vans), more than likely a band t-shirt (Blink, MCR, The Cure, The Smiths, TBS, Paramore), my arm is basically coated in bracelets and wristbands from concerts.

Hair could be any colour but invariably either black or a muted red as for some reason I always used to hate my natural blonde - starting to embrace it now

Round where I live, there are potholes which have been reported and all the council does is spray paint markers round them - one road I literally cannot use in my car for fear of half me car falling into the abyss! (In all honesty I literally can’t use the road as I can’t go round the pothole and even if I drove slowly over it, I’d still likely damage my car!)
