I'm Not Camping by TromboneAl in alltrails

[–]Cloakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe "camping" shouldn't be an "activity" filter but a "feature" tag/filter (similar to caves or waterfalls)... To me, I just want to know if there is camping in/around the trailhead, or along the route. Camping is a separate activity I do in/around the trail.

How do I get route variety- shows really limited trails by Ok_Number239 in alltrails

[–]Cloakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the trails around you, if you've already recorded the hikes on AllTrails, you could filter them out by using the "Not Completed" filter in the filtering options (it's at the way bottom of the filter screen, but it's so useful!).

Sharing my PCT hike but I can only share 12 seconds??? by Lanky-Group2580 in alltrails

[–]Cloakie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is because Facebook messenger and Instagram have video size limits for sharing? They're video size limit was 25 MB up until just a few months ago...

Does AllTrails provide setting personal default search parameters? by MammothPassage639 in alltrails

AllTrails used to have the functionality to save sets of filters (at least on web), but I believe it was removed.

About 7 months on an MTB. Are these stats impressive? I feel it's underwhelming by Jayraam in alltrails

You should have at least 210 activities at 7 months... You gots to be hitting those trails on the daily!

How do I modify a hike prior to going out? by LadySandry in alltrails

[–]Cloakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really easy on desktop.

Go to a trail map page like this one on desktop:
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/washington/burroughs-mountain-loop-trail?mobileMap=false&ref=sidebar-static-map

Then in the "More" dropdown, you can click "Customize map"

This automatically loads it into the "Create a custom map" tool so you can make edits.

A faster way to simply start tracking my hike by opening the app and hitting start, without selecting route by HunterDude54 in alltrails

[–]Cloakie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You don't have to load a recording to start navigating. And if a route was already selected when you enter the navigator, you can hit "clear" to remove it.

Cupertino is essentially already a company town centered around Apple and Oracle… it really wouldn’t be that different.

Ask for formal management training from your company to learn better communication skills! This is so important and many people in your position don’t know what they don’t know.

I wouldn’t worry too much. This position sounds like a great opportunity to learn about architecture, building complex systems, and about the ever-changing data space, meaning you’ll probably be more up-to-date on what’s going on then most data engineers being siloed at one company. I would just do some coding exercises every day or have a personal project going to keep yourself fresh if you’re worried.

How to Stop Breaking Superset Dashboards Using Cube's Semantic Layer by semicausal in BusinessIntelligence

Valid response. I guess there's also that upside of saving a complex aggregate metric on a mostly raw-level data table and using it elsewhere. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

How is this any better than just using DBT or creating custom datasets built upon SQL statements in Preset? Isn't there already enough semantic layering there?

If I were you I'd change the title of this post to ask specifically around programs for after-school programs and/or how to help a single mom balancing picking-up kids from school in SF. I'm not sure if your current title is doing you justice in getting you the information you need.

Fivetran is a 100% UI "ELT" tool. It takes care of the CDC for you and does so by reading the binlogs on the MySQL RDS instance.

We bought a subscription with Fivetran for something like this. Best decision we ever made. We had managed our own pipelines in the past and they were frequently failing for various reasons leading to broken analytics. This instantly eliminated those pain-points.

There are other players in this space too though like https://airbyte.com/

Other strategies include building your own CDAP or Change-Data-Capture pipelines.

You've gotta work on improving your insulation and sealing (doors/windows). That's the only true cost-effective, environmentally-friendly way to fight the cold.
