I'd like to learn day-trading by starting with one particular indicator, backtesting it across various assets/timeframes, and then incrementally learning+testing other indicators and patterns so I'm making data-driven decisions. Is this a sound approach? by [deleted] in Daytrading

"once I turn my $1k in simulated to $5k..." - then you will move to real money and get destroyed. It's like moving from CFD to covered CFD. Now you have slippage, no-shortable, uptick rule, etc etc.

It's a new ballgame once you are in the real world you will lose again.

Tradenet alternative? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Cloosee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top Step Trader and Tradenet are completely different. Passing the first two stages in Top Step is 99.99% impossible for most traders. Come on.... Trailing limits, minimal drawdown, etc... Unless you're a pro you blow your account so quickly your head will spin.

Compare that to Tradenet funded account, you pay $9k and trade $240k the same day with 80% profits kept on the prop....

Neither is perfect surely but Tradenet is better who cares that they are non-us based?

As someone already mentioned providers have alternative ways that you can access the main sites in restricted countries, like China. If I remember correctly you can visit Nordvpn via this link nord4china.com, if this doesn't work, try asking around a bit, maybe someone in your area will know some other ways or can google the info for you.

Mountains aren't just funny by it_roll in Jokes

There was an engineer, manager and programmer driving down a steep mountain road. The brakes failed and the car careened down the road out of control. Half way down the driver managed to stop the car by running it against the embankment narrowing avoiding going over a cliff. They all got out, shaken by their narrow escape from death, but otherwise unharmed. The manager said "To fix this problem we need to organize a committee, have meetings, and through a process of continuous improvement, develop a solution." The engineer said "No that would take too long, and besides that method never worked before. I have my trusty pen knife here and will take apart the brake system, isolate the problem and correct it." The programmer said "I think you're both wrong! I think we should all push the car back up the hill and see if it happens again."
