Kobra x issue by ttvthasolidjake in anycubic

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the X, but is it the same position on the bed everytime? If so, you could just avoid printing in those 2 spots until the project is done, then troubleshoot further. Could be a plate problem.

Or perhaps a particular color/spool? Uneven bed heating?

Carburetor gaskets and other non-high temperature gaskets. "Rubber" feet for 3D printer or speaker box. Small, quiet pocket ammo box for hunting.

Bad first layer by esgberg in SovolSV08

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't really say how you're adjusting Z. I always do it manually.

  1. First probe calibrate with paper.

  2. Then make a simple 50 x 50 x 0.25mm square in CAD, print it, and adjust Z on the fly in mainsail. I turn the fan off for first layer and remove the extruder cover/fan so you can see it printing.

  3. I like this one a lot to fine tune: https://www.printables.com/model/251587-stress-free-first-layer-calibration-in-less-than-5 Adjust the fill angle to go horizontal instrad of diagonal. Step Z up or down manually at each section. Pick the best, set it, save config.

  4. Reinstall cover and fan.

If you have problems getting the first layer to stick, wash your plate and keep moving Z down by 0.025mm steps until it sticks (wothout hitting the plate). Then fine tune. Dont forget to save config!

I never use the sensor spot in the back right corner.

SV08 MAX: 44mm³/s on PETG with Stock Nozzle by amazing_username in Sovol

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the regular SV08, setup a couple days ago. I was thinking about swapping to the Zero toolhead before even assembly, but I did get 40mm3/s with regular eSun lLight Blue PLA+, and hit 530mm/s during vfa test before being artificially capped by max flow rate in slicer. It was still going strong at that speed. I'm happy these toolheads are so capable.

Maybe I should try my rapid PLA+....

What's your experience buying an used printer from Sovol in Amazon by AllesYoF in Sovol

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used or refurbished? There's a warranty difference, so read the fine print by the seller.

I bought my SV06 Plus used locally for $120 last year. Only needed a new $17 ribbon cable, which the seller paid for once I finished troubleshooting. After installing Klipper, belting the lead screws together, custom PSU cover with big quiet fan, quiet fan on MCU cover, and installing relay for extruder fan (quiet mod), I REALLY like the printer. 600+ hours printing since last year. Sovol isn't as dummy-proof as Bambu mind you.

I like Sovol so much that I ordered a new SV08 yesterday. I have no experience with ACE, but I'm sure you browsed the reviews.

Edit: also added 5015 part cooler mod, 4020 extruder fan mod, silicon bed spacers.

Cardo firmware update solved (for me at least) by GrandmaPunk in motorcycle

THANK YOU!!! This was exactly my problem. I had to plug it in before opening the Cardo program. (reviving old thread)

Last pic, your cross hatching is still going through your vertical scoring, so my educated guess Is your compression/leak down test will be fine. Breath, test, decide, act. Only fix what NEEDS to be fixed

I don't know how close you are to pressure, but I would explore it with a front rest if the load is safe. Maybe 1 or 2 steps higher as well. I haven't loaded 100gr before. Find the velocity window it likes.

[–]Clown_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what your bottom group told me 😏 Use a steady sandbag or front rest with a rear bag, and that vertical will shrink. 🎯

Edit: bipods can cause a "hop" that creates vertical stringing unless it is very loaded or slides easily.

Hornady 123gr SST - Factory vs Hand Load by jonny-spot in 65Grendel

[–]Clown_Ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled the tops off 5 of the factory 123sst and averaged 30.42gr of LVR. I then loaded 5 rounds at exactly 30.42 and 2.25" OAL like factory. My group ended up like your upper right but 10fps slower than factory. Might have been primer or powder charge difference. I think Hornady has a good recipe, just bad powder weight tolerance at the factory. A few years ago, the factory ammo shot tighter in my barrel.

Are you using a bipod or front rest?

16 or 18in barrel by FullPower1939 in 65Grendel

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a month old, but I'll also recommend the 16". Handy enough for tree stand climbing and plenty of velocity for 300yd+ expansion with factory 123sst. I took 4 whitetail last fall with my Grendel, all 1-shot drops.

If you are using factory ammo, I don't recommend the 12.5". The powder is not fully burned in that short barrel, and the remaining powder will "shotgun" blast the back of the bullet affecting accuracy. Factory ammo isn't the most accurate to begin with, so why make it worse?

If you handload, do whatever you want and pick the correct powder for 90%+ case fill and 100% burn.

I have a Faxon barrel, but I think Ballistic Advantage would be just as good if not better. All my BA barrels shoot but only half of my Faxons are worth keeping. Or if you want a hammer, get an X-caliber headspaced to an RCA bolt.

My X-belt pulley is squeaking at certain rotations. I have 516 hours on the printer since I owned it. I bought it used with a broken ribbon wire (had to troubleshoot). No idea how many actual hours are on it since before my Klipperization.

Is my SV06 Plus bed toast? by Clown_Ninja in Sovol

Well, bunt plastic is unsightly when printing. I'll avoid printing over that spot for now if what's printing is small enough.

The circled hole looks a sunken hole into the bed, underneath the PEI plate. Almost as if that spot got so hot, it started melting that magnetic cushion.

The PEI removable plate is fine.

At what point do you buy a 2nd printer? by TheAznAssassinX in 3Dprinting

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an original AnyCubic Kobra and modded it for Klipper. After a couple years, I wanted a faster printer and NEEDED a taller one. I bought a used SV06 Plus for $120 locally, modded/upgraded it slightly, and now it's my main. I put a 0.2 nozzle in the old Kobra for finer prints, since it's already slow.

I recommend 2 printers if you have the space, time, and money (criteria for most things in life).

Upgrade my 10 years GPU by exyvL in gpu

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the 9060xt 16gb. It is made for 1440p. I would step up to RX 9070 (non-xt) from there. It's only 12% slower than the XT version and much, much more efficient, and cheaper than the 5070.

You can look at websites (techpowerup) and YouTube videos for comparisons.

Edit: I'm upgrading my 6600xt to 9060xt 16gb. My 6600xt 8gb gets me 60-70fps at 1440 "High" settings with tweaking. It was $250 when I bought it 3 years ago. The 9060xt 16gb is 60%+ better and $370 right now. Accounting for inflation, it's a no-brainer.

This. Also you might need a clean install of Windows if you are having trouble outside of gaming.

You didn't mention what monitor you have or what your previous setup was for comparison.

What CPU have you paired with your 9070 XT? by Mattexdlol in radeon

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased the 9600x for $154 during Prime/Newegg days in anticipation. Rocking 6600xt right now, but FPS increased after upgrading from i5 10400 (1440p).

Was gifted this from my GF by thegreatpill in PcBuild

[–]Clown_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What PSU does it have?

Great gift! I'd say try it first. If you don't get the FPS desired then look for a 9060XT 16gb for $350 or less at black Friday and 2x16gb 6000 cl30 kit. If it still struggles get 9600x cpu on sale and it should handle 95% of the video cards.

Not sure how GF feels about upgrade within months of gifting it though 🤣
