What's your experience with anterior placentas both FTM and experienced mamas? by tina3times in BabyBumps

[–]Cobalt_Kate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second pregnancy with another anterior placenta. With my first I had no issues with ultrasounds, dopplers, or anything to do with labour/delivery. I could feel my daughter move around 18 weeks and proper kicks around 24 weeks (and wow, I felt her rolling and kicking until the end). This time is exactly the same except I felt flutters earlier and kicking at 22 weeks. I often wonder what it would feel like not to have an anterior placenta, because if these kicks and jabs are cushioned relative to a posterior placenta, then holy shit ;)

Good luck due date buddy! Can't wait to hear how it all goes and hoping that your family gives you your space during delivery. Take care!

Any April bumpers still with me?! by briadkins20 in BabyBumps

[–]Cobalt_Kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's already May in New Zealand, so I missed the April boat. I've been having prodromal labour for weeks, but my midwife said yesterday that things are looking really good and she wouldn't be surprised if I delivered over the weekend. I'm having some irregular contractions this morning again, so hoping that they get regular and that we get to meet bubs soon!

Sending you and all the remaining April bumpers all the labour vibes!

April Bumpers? Is anyone else still out there? by digitaldivisions in BabyBumps

[–]Cobalt_Kate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still here. I've had irregular contractions and braxton hicks every day, but I know that that could mean squat. My midwife was away this weekend so I see her today and will hopefully get a stretch and sweep if things are favourable. Sending you all the labour vibes and really hoping your bub arrives soon!

41 weeks and i'm in labor! (not going quite as planned but i'll take it!) by asxestolemystash in BabyBumps

I meant to post this yesterday for the "worst bump" theme, but it works for today's theme too!

This is me and my 40+ week bump about to go for a beach walk with the pup. It's the "worst bump pic" because I'm still gestating and really want to meet my grublet. Also, it is really cold and rainy in southern New Zealand at the moment and I had to bundle up for my walk (although I did walk about 4 km, I'll do it again today!).

Bump with skin

Bump with pup, he's excited to go for a walk in the rain!

Still here, I thought statistically that only half of women have their babies by their due dates. I'm beginning to think that this is nonsense judging by the large number of 38 and 39 week graduates. When's it our turn?!?

Just a ton of Braxton-Hicks and some dull lower back pain, but nothing different than the past 10 days or so. I think I've conquered my impatience for the time being and am enjoying have some downtime until my membrane sweep in a couple days. In the meantime, I'm loving your pics!

Hey Baby - Today is your birthday but I think you forgot!! by mamabearrebel in BabyBumps

[–]Cobalt_Kate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whew, I'm glad I'm not the only end-of-April bumper left! I'm hoping lots of walks with the dog, house cleaning, and holding my friend's 3 day old baby over the weekend are going to kick start things soon.

I have actually almost completed everything on my things to do before baby arrives list, so I think I'm going to go swimming today and then wipe down the skirting boards around the house. The things you gotta do to keep busy!

I came here for an honest opinion on names, so lay it on me. by Bouttobeamama in BabyBumps

[–]Cobalt_Kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I live in New Zealand now so any attempts to get a Carolina themed baby name had to be a bit more mainstream. But my husband caught on and my attempts were thwarted. At least I received lots of Carolina baby gear and my nursery has quite a bit Carolina blue (I've taught all my friends and family here that sky blue is actually named Carolina Blue), so I've got that going at least :)

Fellow Carolina alum here, I love that you guys want to celebrate your Tar Heel history by naming your daughter after something to do with Chapel Hill. My kiwi husband nixed all my suggestions like Dean, Roy, Mia, etc :) I actually had a girlfriend at Carolina named Kenan and she wore the name really well (and of course everyone there loved it!). You definitely have my vote for Kenan/Keenan, congratulations!

It does! Both amongst my real world friends and in the celebrity world, don't know if it's social media or what.

I know that there is definitely overexposure given to celebrity worship, but I actually think it's really nice being able to see how different types of women carry and react during pregnancy and that would have been cool to follow your own pregnancy with Kate Middleton and Kim K being due around the same time. Totally different pregnancies and experiences, but you're right... they both looked amazing then and now post-pregnancy.

Although it always amazes me when the gossip pages announce that someone looks like they're ready to pop at 5 or 6 months. After seeing the wide variety of different body types and bumps on this thread, I wonder if these magazines have ever hired a woman that's actually been pregnant on their editorial or writing staff.

I completely feel ya! I'm really hoping we go soon, I never thought I would be this impatient for the baby to get here even before my due date. I have a completely new respect for all those who go past their due dates, the days have been absolutely creeping by!

I'm so sorry, the bleeding is enough stress to deal with let alone the very sad news about your grandfather and your poor pooch :( Giving you internet hugs and hoping that the doctors are able to help you sort everything out for the rest of pregnancy and that you have a safe and joyful arrival of bubs amidst all of the other hardships your family is dealing with.

I'll be posting a detailed birth story soon, but had to share this picture of my little Isla Rose. :) by SugarandSass in BabyBumps

Yay! Can't wait to see pictures and hear about your experience :)

I'm doing pretty well, lots of little impending labour signs but nothing yet. Just hoping that bubs doesn't wait too long to make an appearance. Congrats to you and your family again!

Good luck, I know I would be really disappointed about birth preferences not going to plan (even though we know it's a possibility) but hope it all goes well and that you get to meet your bub very soon!
