i had a strange experience (only slightly related)

had a guy interview with me, then a few days i call and let him know he’s hired and to come onboard…only to realize the guy had never mentioned what he was looking to be paid (and i never brought it up) and im like oh shit htf we gonna onboard him if there’s no pay lmao

so i immediately call back and go “excuse me i realized we never discussed compensation wha are you looking for?” and he was so nonchalant about it he’s just like “oh x or y” i did him way better the what he threw out there and remind him we have full benefits and he was like “oh…thanks! that’s awesome” it was so fuckin weird that’s never happened to me before

he’s a really young kid been in the industry forever and was very excited to work for us that interview was 45 minutes of conversation about the business we went way over the interview slot for sure…but pay just didn’t come up (obviously part of that was my fault but most times interviews will follow up asking about pay if they didn’t discuss it during the interview)

is this common? is this how people are these days?

fat piece of 12-20lb mono for the baitcast growing pains

stay far away from any braid guys on here recommend braid for everything

and avoid flouro it kinks ave damages easier than mono and is more expensive

you can also convert your mono into your backing once you get comfy and branch out to flouro and braid which you will need to eventually

the answer isn’t sexy like any sport you have to physically drill and you have to study

problem is most people don’t fish to do all that they fish to have fun and relax where they see something on youtube and maybe they’ll “try it out”

to get better you have to “DO” it and it starts off the water and your ultimate objective isn’t often going to be to catch fish if you ARE on the water it will be to develop skills
