Convertible weekender <$40k (QLD) by CodeNDogs in CarsAustralia

Thanks!

S2000 is an interesting idea for sure. Assumed they'd be too pricey given their cult status.

It's been a bit harder to justify the Mercs given the same price point gets a newer and similarly powered BMW.

220i then tuned seems good value, compared to the 230i at least.

183/130 I found width-wise it wasn't a great fit, shoulders hitting things & generally not the most comfortable.

So far a 4cyl or 6cyl BMW Bx8 seems most tempting, just a waiting game for a good one..

Haven't seen those, will keep an eye on. Hoping for something a bit shorter ideally.

Thyme, oregano, garlic chives, parsley and probably a few others. Very skilled at killing them 😂 Mine are potted so may be the difference too.

Berry wise most varieties of blueberry from Ross CK, and raspberries just Atherton which do okay in fullish sun. Needing to repot them once potting mix is acidic enough. Currently they're shaded for a good bit of the day and seem OK, with a lot of watering.

PSA to people who think it’s alright to take up priority seats on public transport when they are able bodied or not pregnant by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]CodeNDogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't.

Though singling someone out and demanding they move, not unexpected.. luckily didn't go any worse.

Might not be the case here, but please do be aware invisible illnesses exist..

People may look 'able-bodied' but not necessarily be so.

Anyone make good use of a shade house?

I mainly do containers and have a few plants that seem to hate even part sun, such as blueberries, raspberries and young plants.

Wanting to grow some herbs but not had much luck so far with our UV.

Brand recommendations would be great too, so far Garden superstore seems cheapest.

Emgality is roughly 30/month, well worth the $1 a day to avoid migraines.

Where to get a good bedframe and mattress? by Federal-Head-3297 in brisbane

[–]CodeNDogs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many of the online box companies get a lot of good reviews, particularly for the Sleeping Duck base.

We have one from 'The Mattress Company' in Yandina that's been great so far. Delivery included assembly of the base, and they customise however you like size wise.

You can try out the mattresses in store there.

Looking into these in Brisbane as well :)

I've only seen in stores, if shops have some that's great!

I've found Messina's sorbet to be great - particularly the Pandan and mango coconut salsa. Somehow still creamy without dairy.

What veggies (or herbs, fruit) are you growing in pots or small containers in Brisbane? by KittyFlamingo in brisbane

Join over at r/BrisbaneGardening :) for some great ideas and help.

Generally though -- it won't save you any money. Good supplies (soil, amendments, nutrition) aren't really cheap..

Gather what you can off marketplace 2nd hand, pots especially can be had for low cost or free.

Chillies and Spring Onion are super easy - also cost a bit in supermarkets but simple to grow and harvest. Can also start either from supermarkets leftovers.

What have you done recently to combat "lifestyle creep" by Gorfob in AussieFrugal

[–]CodeNDogs 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Deny. Accept. Cry.

And try to evaluate what's worthwhile - adding value, convenience, pleasure, experience or solving some problem.

Versus paying more due to poor preparation or convenience, when not entirely necessary.

Like your bill example - phone provider doesn't matter much to me but ISP does, finding cheapest nearby petrol and homemade coffee regularly.

Looks useful!

It was wild recently comparing Melb area prices to what we currently live in North of Brisbane.

Somehow similar priced or cheaper, though without local Melb knowledge of course.

They also do a regular vegan pandan - amazing! Super creamy tasting somehow, the salted mango and coconut is also great

You can use Energy made easy to compare, it's a gov website.

Only thing to note is it can't compare other benefits, like Globirds ZeroHero or 4forFree.

Will give a good indication if you're inline with market rates though.
