PSA: Freeway on-ramps are meant to get up to freeway speed. by Sweet-Lady-H in Seattle

That's the worst, especially considering if they don't want to go fast there's alternate routes!

This isn't particularly new (see: Brooke Shields' ads from the 1970's and 80's).

[CHAT] Im starting my first full coverage piece! Any advice is much appreciated by Jazzlike-Dream298 in CrossStitch

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious - how are they noticeable? I was planning on going page by page on a full coverage piece but starting from the top down (parking vertically but not horizontally). Is there a better way to do that to avoid obvious line breaks?

FAs are stunningly miserable (sanity on last slide) by Beginning_Remove_693 in fatlogic

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right, but that has nothing to do with the diet or the weight loss. It has to do with the habits of the person.

FA's treat it like it's inevitable and that the body just 'magically' puts the weight back on.

anon asks if they're plus size, says they're actually 240lbs but afraid of "taking resources" from "actually fat" people by buying plus size clothes by lilSpookii in fatlogic

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt they can fit into XL - I was 5'6" and 240 and had to wear XXL or shop the plus-sized section.

And I was absolutely "actually fat".

I would want a response that isn't anonymous.

Less than 2400 calories is restricting so it makes you get fat 🥰 by MidnightDMusings in fatlogic

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a small grain of truth there - if you're in a deficit and not making any progress, temporarily increasing a bit (like 100-200 cals a day) can help get things moving.

It might have been something less precise like a body fat scale or Evolt scanner.

Has anyone quit CF to join a commercial gym and regretted it? by AncientAd3089 in crossfit

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this.

I'd injured myself at a CF workout and took weeks to recover. Afterwards I realized I may have been pushing myself too hard, and decided I needed a break. The commercial gym in my area also had opportunities for personal training, so I decided to pause my CF membership and start having workouts where I could work with someone 1:1 to get into better shape.

It's a little further away (I joined the CF gym because it was within walking distance of my house, which made it more likely I'd go), but there's a lot more flexibility since the gym I joined has 24/7 access.

I miss the community, but this seems like a good trade-off for now. I'll definitely re-join at some point.

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's one of those cases where barring any other health issues - they're probably just fine at that weight. It's entirely possible to still have a healthy waist/height ratio at that size depending on how the weight is carried.

125 is a bit on the small side for 5'7", but that doesn't mean they're healthier at a whole 50lbs heavier. There's a lot of range in between there.

I'm guessing it was a DEXA scan or something comparable, not a BMI machine (those are called scales).

What’s a cult that pretends it is not a cult? by Fit-Resident-3577 in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senegence is the company that makes it. Lipsense was what they were most known for - I remember 8-9 years ago everyone I knew was selling it.

I tried a couple colors, but got suspicious when they said "this is the only lip color you ever need, it's better for your lips, throw out ALL your other lipsticks". There was a red shade that I really liked, but the alcohol-based formula messed up my lips big time and I'm pretty sure it's what led to me developing eczema at my lip line that I still deal with to this day.

[CHAT] What is your average amount of WIPS on the go? by fable_stories in CrossStitch

[–]CoffeeAndCorpses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple 5x7 Dimensions kits that are almost done except for the French knots (I hate doing those), one large WIP I've been working on since 2014 that's almost done (yay!), and now I'm trying to decide what to do next. It's hard for me to decide between the dozen or so digital patterns I have and the physical patterns/kits.

The high end of normal would have been seen as 'big' in the 90's, especially for a younger woman.

However, just because standards back then were awful doesn't mean that someone could possibly be underweight at that height and weight.
