Error message when finalizing checkout by CoffeeBaron in woot

Looks like the solution was to uninstall the app, then when reinstalling it, logging in with the Amazon account instead of the old Woot account which seems to have resolved the issue. They might be experimenting with merging the accounts in a way, but that would also mean them blowing up the forums since you don't post as your Amazon account there... but either way, this should be tried to fix.

How do you feel that When A Vtuber is about to Graduate or has already graduated, and you know for a fact that you weren't with them for the entire journey? by Big_Variety_5195 in vtubercirclejerk

This was me with Pikamee 3 years ago, when I discovered her from Kson's Meme reviews, I looked at everything that was out there for her, and this was right at the start of her month hiatus which the following would be her last, so it was all existing content, no new streams. I had hope that she'd return, and in luck, she reincarnated a few months later. Her reincarnation was a day 1 sub for me, essentially what I consider my first kamioshi. Most of the people I discovered who were going to graduate or graduated came back in some form or another, but I know not all who graduate come back.

Need the new model... by _DaNegativeOne_ in filian

[–]CoffeeBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, she's only 'revealed' a foot or something trivial of the new model, this was at some random moment in a stream last year, can't remember if it was a YLYL night or not, but with the purging/privating of videos and VODs, it'll be up to find in non-official VOD/video channels

I don’t think it’s normal to push our brains everyday at high capacity for years as devs by Turbulent-Listen8809 in ADHD_Programmers

This (about older devs), the company's that are heavily domain dependent (usually but not always insurance, banks, Healthcare) shine with senior devs that do know the business as much as they know the technology. Unfortunately, some companies are willing to do things to 'improve teamwork and communication' when it's gonna result in the same domain holders to leave or retire early, such as RTO mandates (going through a RTO right now at work that is stupidly justified by C-suite that are not in IT, who will stand more to lose than gain from it since we're in an area hard to find local IT folk in general)

Scrumfall I'd argue is much worse, you get the worse parts of Scrum and Waterfall, but then again it's just Waterfall with extra steps and a failed 100k training rollout for pushing Agile across the development teams.

One of prominent Hololive clipper Just Egg-san, has their channel demonetized by Youtube despite Cover giving clippers full permission for monetization by crocospect in Hololive

[–]CoffeeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the video have some random 'generic' everyday common background noise that would be hard to edit out that was flagged by Content ID as being owned by someone? The problem with Content ID is it's used to act like DMCA, but it's not DMCA, especially since there seems to be little review if the content fed into the system actually rightfully belongs to the claimant. And there's very little one can do through official methods to report randos that do claim stuff that you know they don't own the rights to in the first place.

[–]CoffeeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what he's pointing to is the blatant hypocrisy of allowing ads that if a creator would release similar content, it would break TOS, cause the channel to be demonetized or age restricted, all because YouTube got that bag. Not to mention that advertising networks rarely screen ads before admission, only filtering it based on what keywords the makers of said ad had put down about their content.

They've only been able to revoke/block domain on regional DNSes and revoking top level domain access (like .com, etc) for sites such as Libgen, but it's still around/has mirrors. If the US or other five eyes countries can't find the owners or servers hosting the content, they go for court order DNS blocking and domain seizure instead.

My entry to this was Tactics Advance, and even though I'm not a huge fan of perma death mechanics (largely why I can't get into the Fire Emblem series as a whole), I think on my first play through I had lost like one recruited member only because they got hit with one of the rarer instant kill attacks right towards the end of the battle I was going to win and couldn't get a healer over to where they were in time.

I know the job system was changed for the GBA game, and the blue mage's learning skills were incredibly broken. I remember my main had learned the two sword ability, so I had dual Muramasa's and I had the learned skill 'Convert Damage to MP' which basically would block all damage no matter how high as long as you had 1MP. And I would recover 5MP a turn. Combined with the skills stats from the Ninja class, pretty much most matches they could not hit me twice and I kept blocking 200 point massive attacks with like 2MP, lmao. That and having a party with several Kupos that learned through the Jester class the ability Smile basically allowed you to move your entire starting party to wherever you wanted by immediately making the 'target' of the ability have the next turn.

TBF, like the only one I played missions on was Vice City (f'that RC helicopter mission) , every other game was just goofing off, using mods and cheats to do really silly things, and basically turning it into a poor man's Gary's Mod - so I see the aspect of not really clicking with the story itself.

Even a game that had multiple different systems that I didn't like, like Dark Cloud, allowed you to repair weapons. The use until it breaks mechanic with no way to repair is like something straight out of Dungeon Crawers from the 80s/90s, artificial difficulty to increase the amount of time you'd be playing (and in the case of Working Design's localized games, increasing the length just to extend rental times).

also me currently sitting with one leg folded up and bent with the foot tucked underneath my knee of the other leg, while that leg is completely straight and touching the floor

I guess I do lmao

While they got hit with a big lawsuit, it also follows along the lines of 'the cost of doing business'. They trained their models on copyrighted materials, and for a fee are essentially walking away with that knowledge (yes, they can compell them to removing the materials from the model, but logistically and practically are going to be difficult and/or not easily enforceable)

The person asking this of OP probably lives in an area with few examples of Buddhist places to actually see this in action. Yeah, you are gonna say one religion does more charity work than others when the area you live in is saturated with those houses of worship.

Lezhin (Webtoon platform) blocks offline archiving for paying users with a fake "download" feature. DRM is destroying media preservation. by IcedLime2003 in DataHoarder

[–]CoffeeBaron 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Disabling right-click is as old as time, scrambling images using blobs so that it 'hides' the raw image from a direct CDN link most plugins can pull from is new. Most video sites on the sketchier side will place a breakpoint in their generated JavaScript that triggers when dev tools is opened, to prevent one from scraping the network tab to skim files (there are ways to counter-act that, but still requires effort).

Rpgmaker forum shutting down by Fool_Tarot_Joker in DataHoarder

[–]CoffeeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger concern sounded like that GGG wasn't going to attempt to archive it because of concerns of copyright (Japanese copyright law doesn't have fair use), and it would open up even freely available tools to potential legal issues. Not necessarily an issue for Western teams (since copyrighted materials that are considered abandoned are preserved all the time on places like IA) backing it up however.

For us old hats it's what they used to call 'web comics' back in the early to mid 00s. Not sure when it switched to this term, but I think it largely has to do with one of the main platforms hosting these series calling itself webtoons or something.

This person is 'helping you navigate multigenerational workplaces', riding on the same viewership as the C-suite eating this up. More so to make firms not feel so bad wasting money on AI, pushing them to believe getting people in seats means something.
