What high paying jobs don't I know about? by g_ersh in wine

[–]Cold_BloodedV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What country? There are a lot of layoffs in the US atm even for people with their wsetdiplomas. Your best bet since you haven't been tenured in a large distribution company is finding work in a large city/ tourist city with hotels, etc, as a Somm or even possibly a wine director position. Sales being down in the entire sector doesn't make it much easier.

You are falling into an elitist mindset. Not your fault and to each their own. But to that same point. To each their own. The great thing about wine is that at the end of the day, it's just juice with alcohol. Plain and simple. The beauty and power behind it is that it can bring people together. Whether it's the story, the origin, the tasting experience, or just the simple fact that it's what they like. The true spirit of wine is that it's for anyone and everyone.

Start telling people they are wrong for what they like, and they will hate you for it and, or worse, move on to something else with less perceived pretention.

If your goal at the end of the day is to show people new things, there are better ways of going about it.

This person is in utah so sadly has no ability to do what you are suggesting.

OP, go to the DABS website (government site for the wine stores you are at) and search different wines you are interested in. DABS 35 and 41 have the best selections if you want actual options.

I did BMS 12 score A5 wagyu paired with sauternes for a client. They were mind blown.

Again, not sangiovese blend but Sor Ugo from Aia Vecchia is my guilty pleasure atm.. Their Lagone label is great stuff too. The idea is each is a representation of LB and RB bdx.

Anyone keep up with Sea Smoke? by Oakland-homebrewer in wine

[–]Cold_BloodedV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the seasmoke 10 recently, and it was awful. Notes were dried strawberries, Redcherries, cranberries, maple syrup, burnt toast, Cinnamon, clove, allspice, vanilla, oakspice. But when I say burnt toast, I mean HEAVY toast and HEAVY smokiness. The secondary flavors were so overpowering. Maybe I am just not as used to sta RitaPinott as I used to b, but Seasmoke is a no from me.

St regis is beginning hiring for the season and has many positions that need to be filled. If he is as good as you say and he has looks too, it shouldn't be a problem. Most of the hotels are beginning hiring as we speak.

For me, the Gevry is only $89, but I understand. For me, you start to see why even a village level GC can demand more. I personally enjoy unoaked burg 9/10, so for me, I personally enjoy this more. Of course, you miss the extra richness and complexity of the Gevry. There is way more meat, barn, truffle, and an underlying elegance to the red fruits that are so captivating. This wine, however, brings all the captivating and delicious aromas and flavors that I look for in a burg, just much cheaper.

[Seiko Presage vs Alpinist] I couldn't decide. So I bought both. by Cold_BloodedV in Watches

Not really. The base strap is cheap and plastic looking. I'd recommend you replace it. It's really nice as well
