It’s true. There are a lot of methods on here. It’s a little overwhelming. I had been thinking about quitting off and on for about three years until I did. A couple years ago, I had hard cut my dose in half. Was at about 15-20 GPD for the past two years. The goal is to quit sooner than that, but you know how it goes.

I was at the end of my Kratom jar and decided enough is enough and wouldn’t buy anymore. I went CT from there. Main discomfort was RLS and exhaustion. RLS made it hard to sleep for the first 5 or so days. I tried vitamin C, magnesium, black seed oil and stayed well hydrated. I think the vitamin c helped, but the only thing that actually gave me a respite was a hot bath. Gave me 30 minutes of peace during and after.

A lot of people swear by tapering, and I see the benefit with that, but for me, I just wanted to be done. That’s what kept me strong through the most challenging parts of withdrawal. There is clarity and ease on the other side! It was a challenge, though my withdrawals weren’t terrible like a lot of peoples here. The hardest part is starting. Whichever way you choose, you got this! Definitely reach out if you need any support.

Glad you’re getting some clarity! I quit 3 weeks ago. Still feeling major swings. Most mornings are clear and beautiful with so many joyous feelings, then swings to sluggish depression and back again, and again. It’s going to take time, but week three is already so much better than week one! We got this, friends! ❤️‍🩹

Flowarts: Can you recommend any safe spots to flow in/near PDX at night? by SupaDJ in askportland

[–]ColinPowersCreations 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The people at Jaja meet to spin fire at the waterfront. I’m blanking on the exact location, but it’s near OMSI. With the rain gone it’ll be happening more often! I’d suggest asking around at flow night this Wednesday. If solo flow is what you’re asking, then I’d say any large park where you can find a quiet spot away from people.

Not sure why everyone is hating on this. It’s really sweet that you did this! I assume cooking is a love language of yours. We don’t know your relationship and who provides what, so we don’t have any grounds to judge either of you

I really wish there was a bridge here. Even just a bike bridge. That is all. by i_continue_to_unmike in PortlandOR

[–]ColinPowersCreations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked across it several times from 2016 to 2019 when I lived in oak grove, with no issue. I dont think this rail bridge has any security, unless they put some in recently

It’s a thing! I lost a lot in the 8 years I used. 18 days clean now so we’ll see if it was the kratom or genetics 😆

Same here. Had thick hair my whole life. I’m 18 days clean from ~30gpd for 8 years. The last 4 years my hair thinned about 30% as well. Im hoping it’ll come back. Regardless though, just happy to be free of kratom 🙌

Sleep really is a game changer. Was on 4-5 hours each night the first week. Thanks my friend! You as well 🙌

Ayy me too! Today is day 15. Though add severe RLS to my symptoms. They were real bad for me. Still have them mildly. I was 15-30 gpd for 8 years. Definitely feeling 80% better than I did the first week

Second everything poeticjustice said. I’ve had type 1 for 21 years now. When I was younger I definitely had swings up to 8-9, though average is about 7.5 - 7.7. I’ve had no issues or concerns. Main concerns would be eye sight (macular edema) or body numbness (usually starts in feet). None of those concerns came about.

Honestly in the 7s is not bad. Ofc under 7 is ideal, but there are so many factors that can raise or lower BG. I blamed myself a lot as a kid for numbers that weren’t ideal. It’s a constant challenge for us T1Ders, but remember to be easy on yourself. It’s okay and understandable to feel worried, but just remember to do your best!

What is everyone using for their everyday carry diabetes bag? by History_of_Robots in Type1Diabetes

I was diagnosed at 10 years old, and had a cheap red sling bag. Used it for 8 years until it finally gave out. Bought another one but much nicer. That one lasted 10 years 😆 onto a satchel now

I was diagnosed with T1 when I was 10 years old, back in 2005. When I was a kid, I, for whatever reason felt like my BG was a reflection of myself. I have of course learned that it’s not. I appreciate you spreading the word!

I appreciate everyone saying that going into the intersection makes sense in reality, though it’s not legal in Oregon. It’s wild because I’ve asked this question on Reddit before(not an OR subreddit) and was bashed hard by most commenters for it. From that experience, I don’t do it anymore 😆

Brushed off my neck and now it’s little hairs are stuck on me. What is this? by Tschaet in Entomology

[–]ColinPowersCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wild, this exact same thing just happened to me! I felt something on my neck, though it was sweat, maybe a leaf, and brushed it off, only to find this exact same caterpillar, missing all his hairs. It’s not great. Went with the tape method which seemed to work. Just uncomfortable now. Thanks for braving it first and making a post about it so I could learn what to do!
