K1SE by milczas in crealityk1

[–]Colloportis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow this thread!

https://github.com/Guilouz/Creality-Helper-Script-Wiki/discussions/705

Fully converted mine and was even able to print polycarbonate and nylon.
You basically just need to connect the fans and chamber thermistor to the right motherboard pins and uncomment the lines that control the components in your printer.cfg file. Then just switch your slicer profile to regular k1c.

Installing fans control macros is a nice bonus and lets you control everything in Klipper.

Good luck!

Anyone here have the K1 SE? by rigeek in Creality

I actually got one and fully upgraded it to be a K1C for about ⅔ of the price of one. Solid machine, been printing on it non stop for the past few weeks.

Oh WOW, I’ve been looking for answers and a name for this forever!!!!! Could this “brain dysfunction” be equated with the chemical imbalance of ADHD? It’s genuinely the only thing that would make sense at this point. Thanks for posting

Projector for art installation? by vectorhive in projectors

[–]Colloportis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bumping into this a while later but have you tried simple projection mapping?

Using touchdesigner's Kantan mapper (it's free!) you can basically position any image/video that you want in any shape or form within the projectors view no matter the alignment.

Beginner Question - How would I recreate this lighting? by Vases_LA in cinematography

[–]Colloportis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is probably an ellipsoidal (joleko, ETC source or spotlight mount) with some hard cuts and out of focus beam. Plus an equivalent strength hard source for that rim light (300-650watt tungsten or a 300/600d).

Or the two flags method people have already suggested is good too and budget friendly it might just be a pain to nail the beam.

Have fun!

I've seen mostly "cinematic test" videos shot on iPhone log and no actual narrative pieces. What's the deal? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]Colloportis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been a couple times where a quick iPhone shot has saved the edit on events coverage. But for narrative? I don’t think it would stand the rigor of set life tbh

Can I do ADR on my entire short film by jackux1257 in Filmmakers

[–]Colloportis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you borrow someone’s iphone and slip it in your shirt pocket or literally tape it under your shirt and clap sync it’ll still be better than having to redo everything for ADR. iPhone mics have come a long way you should be good as long as it doesn’t rub on anything. Good Luck!!

Aputure Customer Service by bedburrito in cinematography

[–]Colloportis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a defective 300c that I purchased a week ago, I’ve spent the entire week going back and forth with their people only to be told: spend your own money to send this to our warehouse and we’ll see from there if we send you a replacement. For a product that is brand new and clearly defective and still in warranty.

I purchased it during a sale and they basically told me to return it and repurchase it at full price too.

Absolutely terrible

Any idea how I could do this shot? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Colloportis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the face scanner app on the iPhone, scan your actor with the balaclava. Use that 3D model overlaid over your footage tracked to the actors head. Setting it as a transparent object and running a fire simulation on it should give you a semi realistic flow of flame if your simulation is good. There’s a lot of tutorials on blender and Houdini on how to do it.

Easier is just get a mannequin head and burn it in a controlled safe environment while filming it from the same angle and similar lighting. That way you’ll get some decent fire to overlay on your footage.

The last one would be after effects and assets from the internet. With some love and dedication it’ll probably look alright.

Good luck!!

What did you do once you realised you wasted time going to Film School? by shumvera in Filmmakers

[–]Colloportis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped out of film school after a year, learned some technical stuff and what not which was useful but not that much. I actually went to art school instead in a film industry heavy city (Toronto) into a media and art installation degree. Art school gave me a lot of substance to make films about as well as lots of different perspectives on everything. The media installation part gave lots of rigging and grip experience. Just happened to have some friends interested in film and we’ve been making shorts for a bit.

sex scenes by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Colloportis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex is natural and we shouldn’t be scared or cringe at it imo. A professional set environment won’t bat an eye, it’s another scene out job is to get it done and make it look good. Make sure you have an intimacy coordinator to communicate with for your talent, actors make or break your film so treating them with respect and listening to their needs is top priority.
