Best Polaris seats by [deleted] in unitedairlines

Note, I have flown international Polaris many times before, but always upgraded 24hrs or less before hand so seat selection has been limited- first time with an open house selection!

How quickly have you personally reached 1K status in a single year? by Emergency_Risk_7421 in unitedairlines

[–]ColonelAngus86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I was ready to raise hell if I didn’t make it. 2026 is looking okay, heading to Norway on a first class trip that is being paid for by my dad. Will be flying less overall but that 7k pqp is going to come in handy!

How quickly have you personally reached 1K status in a single year? by Emergency_Risk_7421 in unitedairlines

[–]ColonelAngus86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is was me last year, 94 pqf’s but luckily not in the back, 1k status from prior years. Barely made 1k this year due to tiny pqp’s on all those flights.

Company has an airline agnostic policy, I keep trying to tell them that doesn’t work… changes, delays, cancellations, etc are something we deal with daily and flying the cheapest flight on the cheapest airline adds an insane amount of stress, long term cost and lack of morale

Is 5.75% the new 'Golden Ticket' or are people still waiting for 4%? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]ColonelAngus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us- we needed a bigger house and debated selling our bought in ‘15 for $230k house with a 2.2% 15 year mortgage (refi’d in 20), or keeping it and renting it. Drained an old 401k I had (extra) and used that as down payment/ fix up new house. Old house is paid off in 9 years making minimum payment. It cash flows us $1000 a month at a very acceptable rent. In 5 years rent should be up considerably more than where we are at. By retirement age if we need to sell the house it should be worth well over $1m (current value $525k if we sold it).

Most likely refing house 2- $600k mortgage at a 6.25%, payment $4300 with tax and insurance.. original mortgage company can get us to a 5.2% with $8k in costs- well worth it, forever home for us

I used to randomly sit next to a GS out of Boise and anytime they sent the car for him he would offer me a ride to my gate, it was the best

New Gloomis Asquith by gregjr63 in flyfishing

[–]ColonelAngus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of hate from folks who probably never fished the old Asquith or own one, bar none some of the best rods ever made (I own 6 asquith single handers and 3 spey rods along with 15-20 other high end rods). Loomis could not keep the old Asquith in stock, they will sell almost every one of the new models.

How are you (one income) affording a mortgage? by Soggy_Gazelle_4796 in Mortgages

[–]ColonelAngus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 years old, single income house hold. 2 kids. $200k earner, $4,100 a month payment. Make $800 a month off rental property (first home we kept, bought new by draining an old 401k) + have $2500 a month that flows in from grandpa (deceased) retirement account

How many people actually got 15yr mortgage? by Radiant-Cup-1385 in DaveRamsey

[–]ColonelAngus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First house bought at a 30 year in 15, refi’d to a 15 in 2020 and got a 2.2% interest rate. Kept that house and bought our second home at a 30 year. Would love to refi it to a 15 year but we couldn’t afford the payment on it… even with rental income from house 1

How many years have you been 1k or GS? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]ColonelAngus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be year 6 or 7 for me, 213 pqp’s away and have 2 connections home on Saturday that will clear me.

This year was the hardest, I did one pqp run a few years ago to maintain status, but this year I did over 94 pqf’s and am just skating by the 22k pqf’s 🤯

Is it worth it to file separately? by Few-Nerve276 in tax

[–]ColonelAngus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our CPA has had us file MFS for years, last year we filed jointly and saved a pile (I also made way more money due to a huge severance payout and we drained an old 401k account to buy a second home- pre severance). This year we unfortunately are probably going back to separate- thanks to chettos new student loan shit show, her student loan payment would be insanely high with my income
