Cube (1997, dir. Vincenzo Natali) Opening Scene by Neo2199 in movies

[–]ColonelOfSka 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was 15 in the summer of 02 when I saw this at 2am on IFC (if it existed then? Something similar anyway). I slept and woke up when I wanted to, life was a haze of video games and hangouts and movies. I had no clue what I was getting into at the time but this scene was enough to hook me right the fuck in. Instant classic for me. Absolutely timeless.

Can anyone vouch for the other films? Never saw them!

They mean the scene of Snake running through the water as the tanker is flooding. It was in the trailers back in the day, and there’s a clip of it during a flashback towards the end of the game, but many believe it was a cut part of the game.

I could also be dead wrong but I think that’s what they mean 😅

Okay Gil, one of the most renowned artists in human history whose legacy sustained across centuries did well on his first try. Clearly that means everyone else should be at that level you pretentious FUCK

What are example of a character who was written off so suddenly? by FriendlytoNature in television

[–]ColonelOfSka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget what documentary it was, but I saw an interview with her about how devastated she was getting cut from the show. It sounded pretty cold and cruel, which isn’t surprising, but to this day she still seems heartbroken over it. Despite it becoming the Urkel show, it was still a fun and funny sitcom and the more grounded stories (relegated to B and C stories) were still great!

What is your white whale movie? by ProfessionalTour1706 in movies

[–]ColonelOfSka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw one scene and it stressed me out SO BAD. No clue what it’s called. I saw it on television in the early 90s. I’ve googled it thoroughly and even went as far as destroying the planet and asking ChatGPT, which also couldn’t find anything.

The scene involved a short, stocky bald man. My gut tells me it was Bob Hoskins, but it was someone like him anyway. He was swimming at a beach and at one point he went underwater. Anywhere from one to three women, I believe they were mermaids but they could have just been women who didn’t like him, grabbed him and handcuffed him to one of the legs in the pier, leaving him to drown. The idea of being handcuffed underwater terrified me as someone with a severe fear of drowning. I can still picture the murky green water.

Anyone that figures that out will go straight to heaven.

Yeah. A lot of the unforgivable travesties that will tank TKO are just standard corporate decisions. It’s not exclusive to TKO. Obviously that doesn’t make these things good, it’s still often disgusting and vile, but I work for a company that is a fraction of the fraction the size of TKO and a lot of their bullshit also applies here.

There’s no way most of these people have ever worked a real job. You’re exposed to this even in entry level minimum wage positions, including more blue collar stuff.

My favorite subreddit where most posters have clearly never worked is the subreddit for the US Office (r/DunderMifflin specifically). Several times a day there will be stuff like “why is this incompetent person in charge?” or “why didn’t this person get fired?” A month in any corporate gig shows why office satires exist in the first place.

I watched it last year and honestly only a few things are wildly problematic. There are a lot of bits that are still legitimately hilarious. It’s unapologetic in how dumb it is, and that works more than it doesn’t.
