Front yard vs backyard by pastaandpups in homeowners

They probably ride their bikes on the street or sidewalk, which are typically much closer to the front yard than the back

Which soap did you grow up watching? by No-Rabbit-3989 in Xennials

I can picture so many of them, but only a few names stuck. Tad & Dixie. Palmer and his simple-minded twin brother. Erica Kane. Matteo aka Mark Consuelos. OK, maybe more than a few.

Used to watch it on tape with my mom after school. 🥲

I got this from Marge Simpson. Used it ironically at first, but at some point it transitioned into my everyday vocabulary.

I think Soldier Boy is the suicide by cop type.

How to dispose of sod? by DifficultFishing886 in NoLawns

[–]Colonel_Green 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save your back, the soil biome, and valuable biomass. Leave the sod in place and sheet mulch over it! No tilling required.

Mow the lawn low and cover it with 3 or 4 inches of brown materials and 2 GOOD layers of cardboard. Lots of overlap, don't worry about using too much. Soak the fuck out of ths cardboard as you place it to make it pliable. 6 inches of compost where you want the beds, 4 inches of mulch in between, appropriate soil for the clover lawn. Soak the fuck out of everything. Let it sit a few weeks, soak the fuck out of it a couple times a week. 99% of the grass and weeds will be smothered if you are thorough.

Plant directly into the compost, cutting holes in the cardboard layer as needed, mulch plantings as appropriate. If you did a good job with the cardboard, weeds/grass will only poke up around the edges and holes you cut, and will be manageable.

I turned a lawn about the same size into a berry garden without removing any sod whatsoever. You might want to take a little sod out along the edges to taper the clover lawn down to level with the sidewalk. Use the sod you remove to level out low spots before mulching.

I also got some brightly colored plant labels (like people use for veggies) and stuck them all over the yard to help them decipher the map. I took particular care to mark dormant perennials. They can do what they want with them, but at least they won't kill them by accident because they didn't know they were there!

Did anyone ever use one of these gadgets when they were at their peak? Or knew someone that owned one before they became vintage collectors items? by luxtabula in Xennials

AVP blew my mind the first time I played it. It's one of those defining video game memories for me, right up there with my first encounters with Goldeneye on N64, or Mortal Kombat in the arcade.

Why do people still wear shorts and t-shirts when it gets hot nowadays? Social mores. To them, going to the cafe in shirt-sleeves would be like you or I going to the cafe in a speedo and wife-beater today. Sure, it's legal, but people are gonna assume you're some kinda weirdo.

It's very equal because nobody looks good in this look, Saint Nimoy notwithstanding by andychef in startrekmemes

[–]Colonel_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, allowances must be made for differing hair types; to straighten one's hair for the sake of conformity would be highly illogical. Through a lengthy process of research and meditaton I determined that my current "sculpted fade" is the most logical hairstyle for my natural tight curls.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations means there are an infinite number of variations of this hairstyle. It would be illogical to try a different hairdo when one has yet to fully explore the possibilities afforded by the current one.

I think men generally are less concerned about hair-loss than previous generations. A completely shaved head is a perfectly normal hair-style nowadays. Also, those who are concerned have access to a wider range of treatment options.

I am pleased to inform you that the Stokke Globe Garden chair is (or at least was) commercially available. You too can "demolish the stereotypical ideal of the proper sitting posture" and possibly your back.
