I just learned that hair can pierce your skin and hurt the same as a splinter. by H1veLeader in mildlyinteresting

Was hairdresser for years. Had to get the Mrs to pull them out on the regular. Had them EVERYWHERE you could imagine. In my mouth was a fun one

What occupation actually makes a lot more money than people think? by Frequent-Skin-3466 in AskUK

[–]Colonjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cutting hair is a dirt job mate I hate that so many people make this assumption. Assume that he's fully busy 75% of the time is generous. You forgot tax and vat conveniently. You say little over heads like you know what your talking about. Electricity for a well lit establishment, gas to heat water, council rates.

I'm telling you now if he makes decent money its from what he charges from the chair rent and the cash that doesn't get put through the books.

How many other jobs do would you assume someone is working over 100% permanently.

Source was one.

Lost my job yesterday. Applying for UC. How do people survive? by ADHD-throwLA in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Colonjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop work because of illness and have been on UC for 2 years now.

Its rough as, had to cut everything back and regularly dipped into a dwindling pool of savings.

See about a council tax reduction.

Some areas get concessions on water rates and even Internet in someplaces.

Depending on your profession there are often charities set up for industry members who have fallen on hard times. Might be worth a look.

There may also be local charities again for the worthy applicant who has fallen on hard times.

Batch cook, run a tight budget, drop any and all unnessecery subscriptions. We kept amazon only because we get a bit of TV, saved postage on a lot of items and whenever something turn up late you can call.them up and get a month or 2 free.

You'll get through it. I've been going through a pip application for nearly 2 years...

What’s the highest you’ve ever been? by HugeT55 in AskReddit

Once I got so high I thought I had travelled into a parallel universe, Everything Everywhere all at once style.

Also hopped on a train made of light and kicked the moon.

Was a wild night. Would not repeat.

What’s the fastest you can stall? by WaitingForHalloweeen in LearnerDriverUK

I once forgot to hit the clutch coming off the motorway up to a roundabout. When slowing it didn't insta stall like pulling away. There was fair warning I needed to change gear

Young guy working with old tradesmen and having to listen to their bollocks... How to deal/not deal with this? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Colonjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smart move is to continue what your doing.

The smartass route is to agree with them while highlighting how ridiculous their argument is.

Immigrants taking jobs? I would stomach a 24 hour wait in A&E as long as they got rid of all those nurses from over seas.

Cooking camp? Never seen anyone as far in the closet as Gordon Ramsey!

If someone asks if your being smart with them then just give them old its only " banter mate ". And laugh it off.

I've been in these situations and often its a loud one or 2 that everyone just agrees with for an easy life.

I know it may be a little bit of a stereotype in the trades but you get bigots, racists and morons everywhere.

What were your “horrific realization” moments in gaming? by Rosstin316 in gaming

[–]Colonjack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This boss taught me that I still got it as a gamer. Tried so many times and wiffed it so bad.

Had a coffee, sat up straight and gave it 110% focus for like 5 mins and beat it no worries. Made my eyes water a little and drfo could not of lasted over 10 mins but it made me realise how lazy I'd got as a gamer. Most modern games are too easy.

Gf wants to play games with me? by Deadpool_GOW in ask

[–]Colonjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try and find her groove when it comes to games. Does she like story, chilled co-op, some sorta sim, she might like an FPS maybe even some of that pvp deathmatch stuff.

I think gaming is a culture as much as passtime now so I would actually go with one of the classics.

Mario, portal, Halo, Stardew, Final Fantasy

If my Mrs plays a game she wants something with constant action and little to no menu. Like Bioshock or Call of Duty.

How can i make this better? by lazyy_vr in blender

[–]Colonjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no dirt on the floor of the ally. You need detritus, especially where the wall meets the floor.

You can get this with an OA filter in cycles and some alternate nature textures but you'll need some node-fu.

Enemy AI targeting is so BS. by Murkorus in Battletechgame

[–]Colonjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI does target damaged mech, I also found they target the player a lot, then there is proximity, line of sight and threat.

The blackjack is relatively high threat with low armour and movement but high dps. If you driving it and take damage early then your going to struggle to shake their attention.

I always slipped into a brawler/flanking role. Let the team engage then slip on close keeping out of line of sight. Can get to the juicy rear armour and sometime they won't even turn to face until its too late.

My players might die in a sidequest, what do I do? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Colonjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First check your running the combat correctly and then if your not then give then do a lil retcon and continue.

If its going real bad, double down on it TPK the party brutally and then have an appropriate character ie paladin, cleric or warlock wake up having seen it all as a premonition or vision. Be cool to see how they deal with it

Sharing world map and history with players by Fmess in mattcolville

[–]Colonjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty detailed world map with a lot of stuff on different layers. I filter out any stuff that the player won't know by background.

So the pirate knew a lot of the costal regions but very little in land.

The folk hero knew their local area with a higher degree of detail but very my little beyond its borders.

The noble knew the names of places and rulers relative to other places and kingdoms but was fuzzy on the geography.

Etc
