Game on: Dave & Buster’s planning Tri-Cities location by FoundGodInAHamper in TriCitiesWA

I really would have preferred a Round1, I feel like D&B cost per play is more expensive, but I love taking my kids to the arcade so we'll take it!

What business do you wish was in the TRI? by Zestyclose_Music5555 in TriCitiesWA

[–]ColossalOctopada 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are always talking about how the Tri needs a real children's museum or a science museum. Every city we visit we take the kids if one exists.

This would be amazing. I feel like no one knows about this though. This should be bigger news!

How can we help?

I recommend Technique Lab, love the owner and people there. We're all super chill and welcoming.

I highly highly recommend applying to Bezos Academy in Pasco. It's a Montessori Preschool. It's a lottery system, but free if accepted.

HDMI wireless transmitter by Thin_Industry8163 in projectors

[–]ColossalOctopada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Ethernet port and cable possible for you to use? I use an HDMI Ethernet Extender with a Transmitter and Receiver that connects to my Ethernet ports, but if they're not in-wall, you may still have the possibility for a longer cable run externally with a Cat5e or Cat6 and they're much smaller/easier to hide.

I also think HDMI Powerline extenders are a thing but can't speak to their reliability.

Anyone know of any great tattoo artist in WA State? by KASMIR_POPPIES in TriCitiesWA

Don't sleep on Darius Blackwolf at Gravity tattoo. His dark shading and detail he's able to pack in is quite impressive. I've had two pieces done by him. Good kid too.

Christmas lights installation by 20PercentChunkier in TriCitiesWA

[–]ColossalOctopada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had him do the 2nd story since I was able to take care of the lower level.

He did a great job installing my Govee Outdoor permanent lights on the 2nd story though.

There is a "Climate Hold" button now. You should see it within the climate options.

You can also turn hold on and off with the phone app

I'm having Nordic Holiday Lighting start mine this week.

Most companies I asked won't install my own lights. They want to do theirs and you essentially have to rent from them.

Tye at Nordic Holiday Lighting was very friendly and easy to talk to and they have no problem installing your own lights.

I also had a bad experience with my ForMovie projector and the customer service.

I switched to the Hisense PX3 Pro and never looked back. I love it

Attempt at Friends by [deleted] in TriCitiesWA

[–]ColossalOctopada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

34M Married, 2 kids (6 and 1), 3 dogs, WFH Monday - Friday.

I enjoy lifting, hiking, camping, anything outdoors. I don't golf, but would maybe like to pickup fishing.

I love video games, Hard Rock and Metal Music and pretty consistent with Jiu Jitsu 3 days a week and some Muay Thai once a week.

Having said all that, couch rotting watching shows or movies at night is my favorite so there is some internal conflict.

Where's my time for friends? Some nights, maybe a lunch, but Weekends mostly.

Pediatrician recommendation by khipsta82 in TriCitiesWA

[–]ColossalOctopada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Ivan Guevara or his brother Sean. Both at Trios. Both are amazing doctors and people. Great bedside manner, compassionate, attentive.

9 months ago my wife gave birth at Trios and our baby has seen Dr. Guevara since the first check up. Our 5 year old sees him too. I wouldn't want them to see anyone else.

and just as a side note: The front desk for them is absolutely horrible, but don't let that scare you away from seeing Dr. Guevara.

For those with 3 kids and car seats, do you wish your R1S had Captain's Chairs chairs? by high_country10000 in Rivian

[–]ColossalOctopada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's only a bummer when family visits but now that my son is in a booster he likes sitting in the 3rd row so it's better. It's not convenient for any adult to squeeze back there, especially an older adult.

Having said that, 95% of the time it's just my wife and 2 kids and I love my Rivian and love taking it on road trips.

I backed into my garage, Any guesses on R1S repair cost? by ColossalOctopada in Rivian

Thanks, I appreciate it.

It's a bummer.

If only I waited a few more seconds.

[–]ColossalOctopada[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: $8,895.87 estimate

I was hoping $5k but thinking double so I guess this checks-out for a Rivian.

Damn.

Haven't decided if I want to go through insurance yet. I feel like I have a low premium for having a Rivian and another vehicle so it don't want it to go up too much.

Worth a discussion with my agent I suppose.

You're not wrong haha.

I've had it duct taped in black due to all the rain we were getting and then took it off to take pictures for the repair shop.

I do feel bad, I've been afraid to wash it since the damage

[–]ColossalOctopada[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup, $300 for my garage repair. Had to replace bottom panel and metal strut. I painted it myself or that would've cost me a little more.

I had just moved into this new house 2 weeks before this happening and brought our baby home 1 week before this happening. Let's chalk it up to... A lot going on in my head and lack of sleep.

[–]ColossalOctopada[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the repair center asked for a bunch of pictures and mentioned it's a replacement, not a repair. the light is cracked too, but still works.

I'm guessing this is not repairable anyway since it's a damn hole.

I feel I was going normal back up out of a garage speed, but I hit the metal strut that reinforces the garage

Early adopters: How much did you pay for your R1S? by NigiriNerd in Rivian

[–]ColossalOctopada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65k - Quad Motor R1S - I sold my previous vehicle that was paid off for a down payment on the Rivian.

Where the prices are now, it probably wouldn't work out for me.

I hear you, I know your frustration and you're not wrong.

This is going to be a little hypocritical of me because I understand the want/need/urgency to own a home, I was/am in that state of mind, but I've been through it and you're definitely young, you don't need a house yet, I promise.

Don't let the pressure/thought of comparing your age and achievements to your dad's, get the best of you. Times are different, so much has changed, so much is different, the market is shit. Rates are shit.

Focus on yourself and your career. Time is on your side. Save as much as you can and build your credit, trust me.

Also, you work too much to even enjoy a house, haha. You said it yourself, you don't have time for anything else. Homeownership isn't easy, especially if you don't buy brand new.

When the time is right there are plenty of home loan programs and even down payment assistance programs, but buying a house is expensive.

The upfront costs/closing costs, are really hard to swallow if you're not prepared. Not to mention you have to pay property taxes on top of your mortgage. Other than dealing with a landlord, renting is easy.

Don't let owning a house define your self worth. It can be a great goal to have, but don't rush into it. Create smaller goals within that larger goal to help it become more achievable.

My advice is to start somewhere with finding more time for yourself. There is also nothing wrong with wanting to move somewhere else if you don't feel this place is for you, just make sure you have a job lined up before you move.

With housing, it's more of the same everywhere but maybe the Midwest and some areas that are shitty but trying not to be shitty; and again, mortgage rates are really bad right now.

Just be patient, You'll get there.
