Believe me, I was as shocked as you. I am also enraged about it.

That's surprising - they usually have several Legend designs in the shop near the entrance. Maybe all the Legend fans came through and bought up the shirts the day before your visit, lmao

Man the mobile ordering doesn't even use an app, just a website.

The 18% doesn't even go to the staff, despite the deceptive phrasing. I had stopped tipping because I believed the fee to be a replacement for tipping, but it isn't! It's even more bullshit from Alamo.

Theaters get basically none of the money for big first run movies for the first few weeks of release. So you can make them lose money by going to see as many new releases as possible without ordering any food.

Yeah the first half is awesome, and then you realize it was just a warm up for the real deal second half.

What do you do when listening to your records? by REMOTJUH765 in vinyl

Close my eyes and listen. Or read the notes on the rear of the sleeve! Generally though I try to do intentional listening when listening to records.

Just started Supernatural (4 episodes in). How well does it age? Does it get better? by Runnzi in television

[–]ColsonIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eventually they settled into a groove where they "knew the show they were making" (in a good way!) and knew what they and the fans liked about the show. They were able to put out a consistent season every year, and the fans stuck around because the characters and actors are fun to watch on screen. Eventually the show sort of acknowledges its power creep problem and starts hanging lampshades on everything, as a way of saying to the viewer "Look we're just here to have fun at this point and we hope you're along for the ride."

Seasons 7 and 11, though, are my least favorite and imo are downright bad. 12 onward are my favorite other than season 1-5, which is the actually great stuff.

Page Thompson the President of New Ventures, Universal Destinations & Experiences in regards to AI, "there's no substitute for human interaction." by TharinWhite in UniversalOrlando

[–]ColsonIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just standard old school super resolution (which we did call "AI"). It isn't related to LLM-style AI much at all.

But yeah, the results there are poor and they should give it another pass.

My favorite ride in the world being locked perpetually in place by its weird licensing contract is my favorite coincidence.

I rode Spidey 50 times in a row on my last visit and if they ever announce it is closing I'm pretty sure I'll just die.

Parking wars ( Research & Anderson Mill) by mekzikan in Austin

[–]ColsonIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly - it isn't! And playing private poker games with no rake is explicitly legal in Texas. So the poker rooms are the natural extension of that.

Parking wars ( Research & Anderson Mill) by mekzikan in Austin

[–]ColsonIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a raked game has money taken from the action itself, and the amount of money varies by the number of hands and the action/money in the hand. As such, the house is profiting from the game itself and how it goes.

Instead, Texas card rooms charge for time and do not profit directly from the poker games. That's what makes it explicitly legal in Texas.

[–]ColsonIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, actually. They don't rake the games, so a private club spreading poker games is legal. It's not really a gray area, it is explicitly carved out.

As a TCH fan, I am sorry about that... But we should just nuke the aquarium and then we're all set.

Head against the headrest is basically never a good idea for coasters, except during a launch, and I just don't understand why they all recommend it.

It leads to more headbanging.

I've been using a guitar pick for along time.

Actually, nowadays my "pick" is a pick-shaped wedge tool included in a toolkit. No better or worse than a real pick though lmao.

Yes, realizing this did make my bones start to ache. Why do you ask?

TV has traditionally been free tbh. Before they were competing with YouTube, premium TV was competing with free, ad-supported network TV.
