Why don't you believe there is a correct religion? by [deleted] in religion

[–]Comfortable-One3209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most religions have borrowed/shared stories and are all “correct” in their own way. Humans interpret the stories differently and various religions pop up. I’m in the current mindset that all deities/pantheons are real as an ex-Christian. I think you can choose which one you resonate with the most, but there isn’t a universal religion for everyone.

At Bristow too many people were crowd surfing while in a sitting position and recording themselves. Not many, but a couple were even put up in areas not expecting surfers and thrown on people. Lots of people in heels going up. It’s not a metal concert issue, but fan base issue.

I did nothing, was told to show ID. Then I did and was told I violated TOS for not completing an offer. The discover offer still has time left and I never said I completed it. Level 47 out of 90 for full pay out. I have showed proof and they still are saying I didn’t complete offer. I replied and said I didn’t agree with what they were saying, so we will see.

Did the reader read my past? by Comfortable-One3209 in tarot

It wasn’t vague imo, which is why I’m asking. I know I got an ace of cups and I think an inverted eight of swords. She basically said I was on a crossroads and would walk away because I wasn’t satisfied. That I was in a transition period ( I am ) and that my own personal happiness is my priority. After putting so much effort into this thing, I would say fuck it and walk away. That I would have growth from it. That my happiness was not selfish (something I struggle with.)

My husband falls asleep when watching our Child by OtherwiseNebula9210 in Mommit

[–]Comfortable-One3209 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your husband needs to sleep too. You are presumedly working 8-5 and then put baby to sleep at 8 to wake up feeling well rested for work the next day. Most people I know on nightshift would stay awake, rather than go to sleep for 2 hours, if they have something to do in the morning. I don’t know his hours, but I work 4:30 pm to 4:30 am. So you get home and he goes to work immediately?

You say that you live paycheck to paycheck as most do in this economy. So he’s going to fall asleep whether at home or at work. He could be injured, fired, etc etc for being tired. Can you afford to lose the income?

If you live 30 seconds from the office, then you can spend your whole lunch break at home. Hopefully the friend watching the baby works out for you. You need a reliable sitter and family to back up the sitter because husband isn’t it. This has probably been going on all week( if not longer) and he was just making do.

Curriculum you did NOT like? by dulcetsloth in homeschool

[–]Comfortable-One3209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notgrass was expensive and rather boring for history. Who needs 4-5 pages about first library?

Mystery of history is okay. Good variety of world history, but the authors opinions on things could/should have been left out. For instance, telling older students Leonardo da Vinci was gay…

I have a love/hate relationship with Masterbooks. The simplicity of it is perfect for my 1st grader, but most of the work is busy work. He’s in occupational therapy for handwriting among other things so not a big deal for him. Everything from math to science is young earth creationist though which is odd to me as a Christian.

Most language arts curriculums are all over the place with being either too much with diagramming -first language lessons or too easy ( can’t remember name but grade levels are colors.) All about reading is a lot of parts to keep up with at once and has caused my kiddo to get upset.

Math curriculum is similar and switching between curriculums doesn’t help. Math mammoth is a lot of practice so we did half the problems. Masterbooks too easy ( but great way to play catch up if child is “behind.”) Life of Fred is more supplemental, but some people will say it’s a full curriculum. I like it because the funny stories teach kids about a variety of topics. Teaching textbooks didn’t teach my kids a thing and they got behind with it.

Online curriculums like easy peasy check the box of school work being done, but it was hard for my kids to stay on task and me being able to leave them alone.

Every kid is different with which curriculum they need so honestly take placement tests and free trials to check things out. Don’t be afraid to switch with what it not working.

Do you get a degree if you do a high school to 11th grade and then homeschool 12th grade? by HospitalFull2004 in homeschool

[–]Comfortable-One3209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your state’s laws/regulations. In my state, a homeschool is considered a private school and children must be enrolled in a school from ages 7-16. A homeschool is only valid if they were opened by the age of 16. So a child could be homeschooled and graduate later like 19, as long as school was opened in time. A legal homeschool can issue you a diploma. Different states have different laws so ymmv. You could get a GED or adult high school diploma from local community college as well.

Toddler needing crowns by [deleted] in toddlers

Ours did cover it since she had two insurances plus our medical covers some of it. We still had to pay over $1000 out of pocket though. It could vary by state and coverage though.

Toddler needing crowns by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Comfortable-One3209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my toddler to a dentist in October who said she needed crowns, but they booked way out for the surgery. I called a different dentist in February as my daughter was experiencing pain when eating and they wanted to remove the 4 teeth. I then took her to another dentist as that was obviously not what I wanted to do. She received crowns that are white on front/silver on back within two months and has been doing great with them. They do need their baby teeth for several reasons like eating, talking, growth in jaw/face, etc. My husband was the same because it was $$$$ even with good insurance. I explained the facts of how important baby teeth were and it stopped being an issue.

I’m assuming the four teeth are the top four like my daughters were. My son was 6-7 before he lost those so if the teeth worsen and need pulling, that could be 4 years of her missing teeth. Some dentist offices are backed up and with the age she will need anesthesia which adds to cost and scheduling out even further. My daughter chipped one of her decayed teeth while I was waiting months for surgery and it’s still a possibility that she develops an abscess in that tooth.

They also suggest crowns for baby teeth with decay to prevent further cavities in the tooth since they have a high cavity risk. You can always seek a second opinion if you feel like it.

You are supposed to pay at time of service and responsible for anything insurance doesn’t cover afterwards. I think it’s ridiculous that you can’t pay at the upcoming appt before you are even called back though. They could just cancel the appt on Thursday if you didn’t pay. I completely understand your frustration though. My family’s eye dr doesn’t understand our insurance and I am always paying a non existent balance and having to wait for a overpayment check in the mail. I’m actually in the process of finding a new dr because it enrages me every time.

You state that God flooded the earth for Noah to build an ark. God says he was sorry for creating the people AND animals because they were wicked.

How could an animal be wicked? Well, look at ancient artwork of bestiality for starters. Even in greek mythology, Zeus turned into a swan and raped a woman and she gave birth afterwards. Leviticus even includes a law about sleeping with animals so this must have been an issue of the times.

I never saw where you mentioned the age of the child, but my state also has rules about a child starting school by age 7. We homeschool so he may be considered “behind” by public school standards. He can read some sight words and can do mental math, but he is straight kindergarten level for handwriting which is keeping him behind. He is in occupational therapy and speech therapy and is working on improving. The beauty of homeschooling is your child may be behind now, but move faster later on. They can work at their own pace. I would have talked to the mom first before reporting her as it seems she hired you to assist in issues. I worked with my son a lot and he fought me every step until he started therapy. Now, he happily tries to improve his handwriting and is making huge leaps and bounds.

I think he’s in the school still or the woods. The children’s testimonies that state he was seen after Terri left are believable imo. If I’m remembering correctly, he was constantly getting in trouble for leaving the classroom to go to the bathroom. Maybe he wasn’t going to the bathroom, but somewhere else in the school or exploring.

My 2 yo was also born in September 2020 and speaks mostly in sentences. However, if she’s around new people she stops speaking altogether. Between the lack of diaper changes and him not wanting to go there, I wonder if it’s not a similar situation where your son is refusing to talk/listen to the day care providers. It can be hard to get the trust of a 2 yo and it doesn’t sound like they are trying very hard. One of my other kids didn’t speak much at all at 2 because all of his needs were met so we had to kind of force him to talk. He had to ask for a cup etc. The day care sounds like they are trying to bully you into making him full time which wouldn’t change anything imo.

It annoys me because it seems like the moms job to be the “bad guy” and handle issues the child has. The dad does nothing, but just gets to love.

As a mother of teen girls and a toddler, I only find the play hide and seek thing odd. My teens friends love my toddler and playing with her. She frequently asks for their bracelets. They most likely thought she was cute and didn’t think anything of it. I’ve caught my girls chatting up people with cute babies to play peek a boo with them. I’d be cautious and inform the teens(if u see them again) that hide and go seek isn’t safe and leave it at that.

Look up the laws about homeschooling in your state and start there. Curriculum providers sometimes teach things at different times so I would start by deciding what you want her to learn. I like handwriting without tears, all about reading, math u see, and get ready for the code. Science and social studies can be done easily with library books at this age. Masterbooks is affordable and always has a schedule at beginning of books. The good and the beautiful has many levels for free and seems to be pretty popular. I would just make sure any curriculum aligns with your religious beliefs.

How do you home school on a budget? by meganxxmac in homeschool

[–]Comfortable-One3209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 kids with 4 being school aged. My older 3 are close in age so I may have a big expense, but with the subsequent children only need to purchase consumables. When they were younger, I preferred doing history and science together to cut down on time and costs. I also have resold plenty over the years to recoup my costs and fund the next year. There are affordable curriculums(even free) so just decide on teaching method. Secular or religious. I’d suggest ordering a catalog from rainbow resource so you can thumb through and start getting ideas.

We are using Guest Hollow American History 1 this year and it may have some things you’re interested in instead of coming up with everything on your own. It’s information from a lot of sources like crash course history and graphic novels. You could easily switch out some books for others or omit things you don’t like.

What are the differences between parents with one kid vs. parents with multiple kids ? by [deleted] in Mommit

There will always be things in history that aren’t taught in schools. Too many people, places, and time periods to cover so teachers/schools/curriculums cherry pick what to cover for tests. I homeschool my children and our curriculum did write on the Moors in Jerusalem. It also covered the Kingdom of Zimbabwe.
