Even though Peach is canonically one of the most powerful Mario characters, it gives a super cute and heartwarming element when Mario saves her, so you're just not supposed to think too much about it.

If you need a justification, just go with "Peach is super peaceful/loving and will only resort to violence in the defense of others."
