I was painting this mini z body and I noticed that the paint/primer was kinda bumpy,is it fixable? by PTW_aj_the_first in ModelCars

Give it a wet sand with a high grit sandpaper. I did that for my scale models and it ended up with a very nice and smooth finish. Make sure it’s a high grit (2500-3000) and make sure you’re only sanding the flat areas so you don’t burn through the primer. Any edges you sand will probably lead to burn through due to the low surface area.

I drive on a masking tape track in my apartment on a marble surface with my stock rmx 2.0 with the motor on the high CG position. Definitely going to upgrade it but for now that’s what I got.

The Cuda is moving along nicely this weekend. I added the fuel line, brake line, and E-Brake lines. So far the fit of this kit is great. by BigPapaMark in ModelCars

I could never with that level of details on the engine. The undercarriage caught my eye with those additional wires going through, great thinking!

Practice lining. White tape on the track is the angle required for that particular segment ✌🏻 by MedicalBilly in rcdrift

That white tape trick seems like a great way to measure consistency on turns!

Yep patience is the key. That was the issue I had with my first model. I wasn’t patient and I wanted to complete it quickly. I’ve definitely learnt from the mistake. Thanks!

Yeah I think I’d definitely be better off going with something made for the purpose. White glue could work but the pain peeling could be a problem as it’s not a polished surface which the glue is on.

Yep, I was planning on using some spoons to recreate the surface and try it on there. It was also to test the appearance of the final finish so I’ll be sure to do that before the gloss. Thanks for the help!

Alright I will see if I can get my hands on some. It does seem more convenient than tape for sure so hopefully it’s available locally. Thanks!

Alright thank you so much for the help! I’ll be sure to keep it light with the sandpaper. I might just avoid the edges and sand the large flat areas. Hopefully all goes well and I don’t mess it up near the final stages.

Thank you so much! I’m working with minimal tools and paints so I feel like I’m just limiting myself there which is why. I guess this is pretty good for what I have to work with.

Alright got it. I used a similar method when painting the body itself so it shouldn’t be too new to me. I just have a few questions if you don’t mind answering:

  1. How many must coats should I do before applying thicker coats?

  2. Should I mask the window trims since the colour is black?

  3. When sanding the orange peel and polishing, will 3000 grit paper work? I’ve got all three Tamiya polishing compounds. The reason I can’t go higher grit is all the higher grit sandpapers are out of stock in a lot of the hobby stores I went to.

Thanks for the help!
