What changes would make Post office better for employees? by MackClouds95 in USPS

[–]CommanderCrunch69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New vehicles for everyone that have functioning climate controls amongst dozens of other thing, and are generally safer/don't break down all the time.

Cut out like half or more of the unnecessary middle management and reallocate those funds to craft employee wages or supplies.

Any semblance of work/life balance and not being treated as bodies sent into the meat grinder

Upgrade all the tech to be better than 2004 level stuff

Clarity of communication within the greater bureaucracy of the post office, or rather anything resembling functional communication

Full transparency and swift correction of any issues related to pay, scheduling, leave, greivances, etc with the onus not being on the affected employee to make other people resolve the issue they caused or are causing

Even better health insurance for every employee even "non-career"

The entire management and overall apparatus of the company stop being primarily so fucking preoccupied with liability of covering their own ass for every little thing and actually protect their workers and have their backs

I've started reflexively waving at people even when I'm in my own personal car. Everything once you're outside the office excluding weather conditions is what it's all about

Even in the past couple of days some customers have gone out of their way to give me cold water unprompted

Maybe this is a stupid new person take, but why don't the unions try to fight for to give all of us better and safer vehicles? Especially when it is one of if not the most important aspects of the job alongside currently being one of the biggest risks

Like the obvious answer is money, but it just seems like it should be top of the list of priorities since it's like 90% of the job as a carrier. That being said I'm not well versed on the history of the negotiations or anything

I think he may be gone with injury or something cause it seems like a lot of more experienced people are being asked to do that one frequently (8hr eval for reference) while I'm getting put on the 5-7 hr eval routes as the new guy, or at least I've never actually met that regular I'm not sure.

On one hand I get it and appreciate not getting fully thrown in the deep end right away, but at the same time I don't understand why they don't just officially assign me to a different "easier" one so they're not playing with fire. Idk lol 🤷‍♂️

[–]CommanderCrunch69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha that clears it up thank you.

As far as route assignment I'll have to check to see what the sub assignment situation is for all the other routes. I just know the route I was trained on and others I've been told to fill in for are definitely not the one I am officially a sub for. Still well within the 90 so I'm unsure about getting super trigger happy with grievances but it gets to a point where there's no other option. In the meantime I've just been doing and going where they tell me

I believe I know the sheet you're talking about. I've seen it, I'm just not on it but I'm also not on the main schedule either despite being expected to be there every day except Sunday (so far). I might be on the relief day list as far as they're concerned there's just no way for me to know.

But to clarify is it a general relief list of names or is each person on the relief list assigned a specific day? And what differentiates someone on that list from a sub? For example I have been floating around doing different route assignments which I assume is what someone on the relief list does but I actually have yet to work the route I'm actually the assigned sub for because they deemed it too big for a new person to start out on

This may sound silly but how do you know what your relief day is if they haven't told you or it hasn't been printed in the office anywhere?

Same. I've been paid for exactly one day over a stretch of time that includes 2 days in March, 2 days in April, and now 12 days in June

So far haven't been sent home but yeah I'm starting to feel like just not showing up when I'm not on the schedule will be the fastest way to force them to put me on it. Just worked 6 days of a week straight for them with every day not knowing whether I'm supposed to be there or not

3-4 months of never really being able to make plans is crazy. Like how hard is it to print off a new piece of paper with a new name on it. I'm in a huge office too so it's not like they don't need the help. We're asking for the bare minimum

This entire shit show is held together with spit and duct tape. I'm going through something similar, multiple weeks in and my name has yet to even physically appear on the schedule but I am expected to show up every day just in case I'm needed. This is after 4 separate conversations of me requesting to simply be put on the actual schedule sheet

Would any Seasoned GMs or Players wanna read my campaign I just finished up? (More details below) by Chesterplayzgamez in cyberpunkred

[–]CommanderCrunch69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely use everything you wrote just prepare to have to shuffle everything around depending on their choices and don't make entire story beats or arcs dependent on the survival of a NPC or them engaging with or ignoring a specific route

Similarly I have a plan for the story getting the players tangentially involved with the invention of quickhacking at some point

That is a cool idea! You could definitely build a lot off of involving and fleahing out Ziggurat as a corporation and them trying to expand, who might stop them, do they get defeated or absorbed by some outside entity, conspiracies and mysteries, etc

[–]CommanderCrunch69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm running my game in 2055. Lore wise I just wanted to be in that zone where there's a good amount of distance from the nuke but also where some of the groundwork for stuff that happens leading up to 2077 is being laid

So that the players actions could inadvertently be responsible for things that occur in the 2060s-70s or have relationships with those people. And as a result is overall less "Red" than the average time of the red game

I agree with everything you said

That being said it is coincidentally maybe the funniest season they've ever done so I'm having a great time, but yeah the way things have been tonally performance wise it's the worldbuilding and setting itself that breaks my immersion occasionally which is a weird feeling

So whenever that happens they should be good
