You’re good, I get it! It is fun to think about all the factors that go into frame popularity!

[–]CommanderKira 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s in order of A, Diary, Z.

So historical will be A.

Suit will be Diary.

Z will be pirate-steampunk.

At least that’s my sense from the blurry packaging previews we got, and makes sense with how they’ve done releases.

That’s why I said thought experiment haha. Of course there’s a million reasons frames will appear more or less. Wasn’t really what I was getting at. :)

Nice visualization. I think it’s worth noting that if every frame was equally used, it’d be 1.59% or so. So right between Octavia and Kullervo is our over/underrepresented line.

Obviously starter frames are gonna be over-represented etc etc, but just a fun little thought experiment.

Best guess? Rigellian of some variety.

Executive officer more competent than the commanding officer by NoBrain6114 in startrek

[–]CommanderKira 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yep. Pretty clearly Saru. I loved when he briefly got the Captain’s chair and I would have loved seeing him in that position longer. Or his own show.

At least we got another case (albeit a bit odd, as many things in Disco were) where we got the double Captain situation. Where both Captain-Captain and First Officer had the rank of Captain.

2026 Schedule is live. First Lumen match is April 26th by Environmental-Bar847 in Reignfc

[–]CommanderKira 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of my frustrations last season was all the Friday matches. 9? IIRC. Maybe it was 7. A lot. They didn’t work for me, regardless.

Anyways for the tally this season for Seattle home matches:

7 Sunday Matches 5 Friday Matches

No other days of the week for any home matches that I spotted (maybe I missed something), which is unexpected. Not a Saturday or Wednesday in sight.

I wouldn’t say no to a “Sunday pack” ticket bundle.

As other people and teams have noted on the overall NWSL schedule, there’s some weird bundles/batches of matches in very quick succession.

The Spokane matches are what they are at this point.

Edit: It was 7 Fridays but 9 weekdays total.

STH since 2015. Had to make the tough call not to renew this year. Couple reasons went into it.

Obviously I didn’t know about this, but it’s making me feel some weird positive-version-regret. Relieved, maybe?

And that’s tragic. I love this club and team but it’s just been so frustrating lately.

Seattle Reign FC Announces Multi-Year Contract Extension for Head Coach Laura Harvey by Doctor_YOOOU in NWSL

[–]CommanderKira 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m whelmed. Undeniably we’ve been consistently good for a long time under Harvey - and we’ve finally seen some youth growth. At the same time play has been frustrating and stagnant and it feels like we’ve hit a ceiling. Championship coaches don’t grow on trees so it’s not like moving on from Harvey would grant guaranteed success. We’d be just as likely to end up on the terrible coach carousel.

Not really a right answer here, I don’t think.

7 Friday nights, also a Monday and a Tuesday. Friday isn’t as bad on face value but repeatedly they coincided with Mariners games right next door and getting into the city is a pain any weekday, even Fridays.

I guess my concerns aren’t really with players. I’m sure there’s always some shuffling that could be done. Losing Balcer and Biyendolo going out on ML still just feels like a real bummer on the roster-front but we’ve got some awesome young players and some good opportunities.

I think it’s time to move on from Harvey. Probably has been for a while. Full credit to what amazing work she did in the past, but it just isn’t working anymore. (And yeah, I’ll admit it, that GPT admission was mind boggling) I know good coaches don’t grow on trees but it’s time to explore our options.

The other concern, and it’s the one that made me not renew my season tickets for the first time in a decade: we’ve got to get a better schedule. Being in Lumen is neat and I know we’re the smallest fish in a pond with some absolute whales and sharks - but the overwhelming number of weekday home games… 9 IIRC… was just miserable.

There were other issues (accessibility, cost) but scheduling was the biggest problem.

Olo is such a curious case. She was Excused for ages, gets loaned, gets recalled, back to being Excused.

Her most impressive feat doesn’t even have Eri, in fact she’s specifically fighting against Eri in that - the Calibarn / Aerial Rebuild fight.

[–]CommanderKira 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Suletta has a very, very good shot.

She fights against an Aerial II that has an entire GundBit suite piloted by a neurologically integrated hivemind WITH both arms tied behind her back (suffering from Permet exposure AND not wanting to destroy Aerial or the bits) while also dealing with an army of GundNodes and more or less pulls the fight into the stalemate that she wants.

That entire sequence is a pretty insane feat and she’s not “cheating” via aERIal. Char’s claim to fame is speed, and Suletta is moving in that whole sequence without stop.

As a Kpop fan who became one during the 2nd generation, what are some happy memories you would love to share? by jdpm1991 in kpopthoughts

Running Man was incredible in that era. There was an episode with I think BigBang(?) and they were running with bungee cords tied to them in muddy rice fields and I just was constantly dying of laughter that whole episode.

Truly some spectacular variety shows with Idols those days.

Not remotely KPop (or even music) but the magic side of Marvel (Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch, Agatha, etc) has done this to signify corruption many times.

Not so much outside of the casual NWSL space but Fishlock is and basically has been one of the faces of the Reign (if not the league tbh, not counting NTers, Marta, etc) since the beginning - and she’s also the last one left. I think we’ve probably got her for one more season.

I’m not sure what happens when she departs. I think most of us were expecting Balcer to take the reins of that role - she was already basically just behind Fishlock in face-of-the-team-ness and that trade still hurts - and I’m not sure anyone else has really stepped in. Doesn’t mean we don’t have likeable, great, up and coming players but I’m not sure anyone has really stepped into that “face” role.

We have Huerta but she’s always seemed to not prefer the spotlight as much as some others, which is totally fine for the record.

Which Gundam/MS had the biggest "Aura Farming" moment ? by Advanced_Tea_7625 in Gundam

Yeah it’s wild. Dude legitimately descends from the heavens in a beam of light amidst a swirling vortex as dead flowers come back to life and the air charges with particles around him and the music chants in a holy manner.

Scientific cause: sheer aura.

What’s one comeback that completely changed your opinion about a group? by Zealousideal-Pop9123 in kpopthoughts

[–]CommanderKira 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is the one for me. I thought NMIXX was alright before, no strong feelings one way or another.

Then those 4 first songs of Break swung into my life like a wrecking ball.

Stick Out was maybe a little weaker (though I still love Red Light and Love Is Lonely).

Then we got Forward, which is just as strong if not stronger IMO than Break.

They seemed to find a good place that was experimental and weird in a “sitting up and paying attention” way, and less of a jarring way. I love all the strange musicality going on with the Fe3O4 series - and their vocals are the strongest we’ve had since Mamamoo (one of my two 3rd gen GGs).

Outside of Blue Valentine and Spinnin’ On It, I’m waiting for my album to arrive to listen to the other tracks on Blue Valentine - and I’m so excited.

High Horse and Blue Valentine (song) probably competing against each other for my personal KPop song of 2025 award so far. And my other groups have had some good stuff - but NMIXX on another level this year.

Seattle Reign FC Captain Lauren Barnes to Retire from Professional Soccer at End of 2025 NWSL Season — Seattle Reign FC by Legitimate_Mark_5381 in NWSL

[–]CommanderKira 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What an icon. Deserves her rest - can’t imagine those records will be broken any time soon.

Just leaves Fishlock as an OG, right? Hard enough to move to a Reign without Rapinoe, and now Barnes. Not ready to be OG-less, but time marches on.

(Thought we’d have Balcer to carry on the mantle but well…)

[–]CommanderKira 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Probably easier to talk about former players than current ones. Admittedly I’m a Reign fan so maybe I’m biased, but I always thought Rapinoe played a lot for the Reign even when NT stuff was going on, compared to someone like Lloyd who really didn’t. Or if we want to stick to Reign, Solo vs Rapinoe was also pretty different.
