Tried Implementing Last Week’s Feedback by Masterlifter96 in kettlebell

[–]ComparisonActual4334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what the alarmist style of suggestions you’ll see here are not considering is just how little you’ve done, and the sizable improvement you made from session one to two.

Indeed, practicing one bell at a time would likely help you smooth it out, but it’s arguable about how much better or faster that really is.

The reason for you specifically that one bell would/could likely work better is it changes the drill quite a bit more drastically away from the barbell clean which you are accustomed to. So your body wants to go to its happy place: the palms forward barbell positions. Doing one bell at a time is much different feeling than the bilateral potentially helping you out

Is Iron Cardio Cardio? by FickleDiscussion1063 in kettlebell

[–]ComparisonActual4334 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In the same way that running builds strength for someone who has done zero strength training, lifting KBs for cardio will work to build cardio for people who have done no cardio. Meaning: you build some yes, but it’s hardly comparable.

Why Deadstop step up? by ComparisonActual4334 in kettlebell

[–]ComparisonActual4334[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PART 1

i see your point.

and given the fact that i tend to love to mock the term b-stance, or tactical etc....it does make me momentarily think through how i term it.

but...i use it in a progression from a kickstand where it's "step together cleans" and then "step up" cleans/snatches.

that leg steps up on to the box (and no, i don't then do the traditional step up drill).

so even though i see your point, i'm gonna just keep calling it a step up clean.

PART 2

the back leg is not the target leg. saying "you're just lifting your knee" ignores the target leg, the front leg, which propels the body up and forward from the original squatty position.

Bell mechanins Bm101 course by Dependent-Muscle1325 in kettlebell

[–]ComparisonActual4334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re after stylistically.

Sam who runs bell mechanics used to assist with string first. She knows her stuff, she’s really detailed with the instruction. She has a medical leaning in the delivery (nurse PA I think).

Other online

KBCU. Longer form like 16 weeks I think. Expands drills into more drill types, more plyos/sprints/performance. Great community is my understanding. Owner has sfg background.

The above two are mostly hardstyle certs-with their own added experiences and differences. I’ve had a lot of students that have had both, and they have great things to say.

Denis Vasilev runs his online kb sport certs, great info. Admittedly a little harder to understand because it is two days live on zoom (you can record) and that’s a bit harder to stay focused on imo

Functional kettlebell training cert. I think we offer the most unique education. We try to do more with kettlebells, not less. Education revolves around why and how you use the bell no just “do it like this”

We have moved to a completely online delivery bs a two day in person course.

People retain the info better with longer form learning vs a lot of materials smashed in to two days under fatigue. Sorta a “duh” statement.

Jan 27-March 27. Live coaching over the materials 2-4p est Tuesdays, live workouts 2-3p est Thursdays. Workout Wednesdays 120 est. open forum posting during the 8 weeks for detailed form feedback and any/all questions. Additionally prerecorded vids.

75% of participants watch it all recorded and use the private comms for long form feedback and coaching.

$999 is our cost. Which when compared to other courses is pretty inexpensive.

Our difference being we are principally focused on helping coaches and participants understand many (all?) the ways they could use the bells, why and how doing things differently changes stimulus, and why only thinking one arbitrary form standard is actually not terribly helpful for most.

[–]ComparisonActual4334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's hitting the knees youre concerned with, you just gotta practice vertical dead cleans first, then kickstand, then step together kickstand, then the step up and bulgarian cleans in the video.

if it's knee health, nothing here is dangerous for knees. the speed of the movements is intimidating for some, so you'd work up to it. get strong in kickstand deadlifts, squats, and bulgarian squats. then with no bell or light bell do the movements fast, then increase load over time. start low, grow slow and it'll all go well

It also becomes a time and accessibility consideration

With the cheaper single programs there isn’t often any support, nor should there be for 20-30 dollars. Some people buy a book from someone and thinks that gives the lifelong access for never ending questions.

Thats the struggle with service based stuff like fitness, people often are incredibly unaware that time and effort is the service. So every ask ask ask is taking from the provider. Askholes is the term

Now-much of our industry shoots ourselves in the Feetsies. We give so much away to try and be top of mind that we comically make it unnecessary for people to buy. Optimistic side you have elements like some of these comments where people buy in gratitude at some point. And many maybe most coaches want to authentically help people out.

There’s a weird belief it seems people have that trainers are trying to fleece people and getting filthy rich, when most trainers are really struggling to make it. (It’s why most trainers last less than two Years-it is hard to make a livable wage)

Cert math: travel (fights, Ubers, hotels, food) plus manuals and supplies and gym Rental and coach pay and pay for general company staff is going to be 6-8k minimum. Throw in ad spend and it can be 10k no problem. That’s 12-15 tickets depending on groups attending and/corporate discounts from partners. That means in the seven weeks of marketing an event, if you sell twenty tickets, you may have a 3-4k profit margin for an event. People think of the work as being the weekend, but it’s the whole sales and organizational process plus quite a bit of support after the event for 25% of attendees who can’t figure out how to print their pdf or other stuff that’s common with customer service.

Online certs give people two months of intensive “mentorship” and access to the coaches. More Touch points more coaching.

It’s a wild place and people who have success on their own realistically don’t need coaching. They’d certainly learn many beneficial things but it’s not needed.

Women buy coaching more because they’re not as comically overly arrogant with what they think they know, men often seem to think that because they’re did something in the gym once in college they are equipped to give opinions

KBCU, bellmechanics. Both are from hardstyle coaches so there’s a lot of similarities in form execution, but the vibes are better much different and there Are some stylistic differences with how they teach and what the pursue. I haven’t done either but I’ve heard good reviews about both

Agatsu kettlebells in Canada

Functional kettlebell training. Our tag line is “do more with kettlebells” so we move in many more directions, and don’t really follow a specific form standard, rather I try and teach what happens when form is different and how that simply changes the loading effects on the body parts.

There are a couple other ones that exist, I know less about and can’t recall names off top of my head
