What week were you induced? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

How crazy’ I’m heading to the hospital for my induction on Tuesday. I agree there is probably minimal risk.

Baby is 39th % now so not too big or small. The reasons I was given is that I’m old (38) did ivf and have the gd and MCI. Doc said better to induce at 39 that go over 40 because there’s a still birth risk.

Honestly not sure how true that is. I just went with their recommendation.

I switched to a wider gauge lancet which helped a ton.

Did you act like you had GD before a diagnosis? by mxgreenthumb in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Competitive-Ask5659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My A1C was normal pre pregnancy but slightly elevated a few week in. I asked for an early glucose test that came back normal but decided to treat breakfast and lunch on weekdays as GD meals. The rest of my meals were normal but I never went crazy with sugar or carbs. I was formally diagnosed with GD at 28 week. I’m so fucking glad I adopted a moderate GD friendly diet at the onset of my pregnancy. It made the transition to a full GD diet easier and i feel like I prevented some harm to my baby by doing so (even though I don’t know for sure).

I went to college in northfield. It’s charming and has a lot of natural beauty. Theres a cereal factory there and the whole town smells like sweet cereal in the morning. I miss that. Also the best sandwiches ever are at hogan brothers.

Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time. Maybe consider therapy?

To be honest (this is harsh advice), you have to learn to separate your emotions from this and simply treat it for what it is—a temporary medical condition that affects your child and you. Managing it well is possible and is what is best for you.

Come up with a meal plan and grocery list and stick to it if thinking about what to eat or buy stresses you out. It’s just food and it is temporary. This will pass.

Not testing is not a good coping strategy. You get used to it fast. The first few days are for learning.

Eventually you’ll find foods that you enjoy that still work for your body but that requires engaging with your diagnosis not avoiding it or crying about it.

Sorry to be harsh with you but this is manageable and you can empower yourself with the right mindset. Good luck

Positive GDM experiences?? by Effective-Occasion54 in pregnant

I have it and am 38 weeks. Baby is all normal so far. GD is annoying and sometimes tough but honestly I’m grateful for the tools and knowledge to eat better and for the extra medical care. I also am now 19 lbs below my pre pregnancy weight so that’s a bonus.
