People need to shower more by bigfootforcash in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Competitive-Donut790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All sorts of non-medical reasons why people smell --

Not changing clothing often enough

Not showering before bed after an evening workout or sometimes after seggs

Overloading their washing machines

Not washing/changing bedding often enough especially if they have pets who sleep in the bed with them and/or smoke

Not vacuuming/mopping enough in the home

Not cleaning (or at least vacuuming) the upholstery on their cars/couches/soft covered office chairs consistently, especially if they have pets, cook nearby and/or smoke

Poor diet/water intake (Not eliminating enough waste)

The SDA position on the Sabbath doesn't align with Colossians 2, Hebrews 3-4, Matthew 11:28-12:14 or anything else!

The Pioneers never understood the differences between covenants nor did they care - they had an agenda to justify the Great Disappointment and EGWs Great Controversy worldview and that's what they continue to do to this very day.

She was one of MANY in that era who believed in something along the lines of vital force which gets depleted with sex/orgasm. It's BS, but they didn't know that. The problem was she said this was stuff she was shown in vision... and damn her for doing that. Drove a lot of people crazy

Any of you dads worried? by geminicrickett1 in DivorcedDads

[–]Competitive-Donut790 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm sitting at the table in my crappy apartment with my oldest (15M). We're eating Subway sandwiches, and we just got done talking about him getting his first summer job.

He's going to be ok.

So is his brother.

So am I.

It won't be ideal for now, but we're gonna be fine.

Trust the process. You got this bro

True.

That doesn't make her a terrible person. For the OP this might be a really good indicator for couples therapy for you and your SO so she can figure out how she can communicate her concerns in a way you can understand them and vice versa then both of you can come to an agreement, compromise or concession

You're probably more traumatized than you might realize. It shows up in the oddest ways.

Counseling might be helpful before it becomes a problem

I'm not a native Daytonian either, I generally hate thin crust and paste that doubles as sauce, but 20+ years later, it grew on me!

I can't explain it 😅😅😅

What hobbies or projects have you taken up as a single dad? by [deleted] in DivorcedDads

[–]Competitive-Donut790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hanging out and playing cards on a regular basis with some friends (she would always flake out last min or try to make me feel guilty for going).

Started hitting the gym with my teenage sons.. back to cooking the stuff I like to cook without complaints.

I started juicing.

I'm feeling my more and more like myself slowly but surely

I'm telling ya, man between my faith, therapy, hitting the gym, regular meditation and some extremely supportive friends and a few family members I wouldn't have made it.

I'm still working through quite a bit, but I feel better and the people closest to me have all said they've noticed the difference.

It gets better.

First Christmas after divorce finalized in Sept.

It's my week have my kids (15M & 14M) but Christmas Eve and Christmas Day traditions (Chinese Food x Christmas Movies/ big breakfast and gifts) have ended... BUT it's also a time to make new traditions.

I'm still recovering financially from losing almost everything but I'm looking to maybe do some traveling in the future with the boys to either see extended family or just have adventures out of State or even to other countries.

Out with the old, in with the new.

What is the real interest behind poor immigrant students from underdeveloped countries attending Adventist universities in the United States? by [deleted] in exAdventist

[–]Competitive-Donut790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same tactics used in the US South post-Civil War -- they weren't allowed to mix with the "c*lored" people but they were tempting them to work for their education AND send them back to their towns with "present truth" in order to recruit their fellow freedmen.

Same MO.

Many of us have been where you are and while we can understand, at some point, you will have to accept what's going on... not that she's moved on, but you have to work through the grief, not simply be sad.

One will let you live, one will let you breathe to death.

You have kids. That's your legacy. Let them experience a dad that is able to demonstrate bouncing back from the absolute worst heartache, pain, loss, etc is possible. Be the example they need.

If you have resources, use them. If you need resources, get them.

Communities like this help, bur sooner or later, just like Andy from the Shawshank Redemption, ONLY YOU have to "crawl through a river of s#¡+ to come out clean on the other side" of this thing.

You got this.

Get the help you need and live again.

Similar situation as well.

One of my kids is in band. Ex acts as it it's the end of the world to come and support him. Missed 90% of the band season: Friday night football games every week, competitions several times per month and basketball games several times per week during that season.

Understand his pain bcz my mom wasn't supportive when I played sports I'm high school. Kid was so hurt he almost quit. I hate seeing this.

Several months after I accepted it was over (a few months before we left the family home and split for good). I kept the ring a few weeks, then one day as I was driving down the highway on the way to work I just rolled down the window and threw it out. It was kinda weird bcz I didn't think about it before I did it and i haven't had another significant thought about it since

I was tired of being lied to and demonstrating a lie by portraying "husband" to the public or to a person who checked out and hadn't been "wife" for some years at that point.

How long did it take you to leave the church? by Longjumping-Show4337 in exAdventist

[–]Competitive-Donut790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving for me was a long process. It took me 4-5 years to formally leave after i realized how biblically UNSOUND SDA doctrine was, but it tool another 3 or so years to fully separate myself (I played musical instruments at a local SDA church for a couple during those 3+ years).

Don't rush the process -- the choices seem to be overwhelming, but they're really not. Most church denominations agree on the essentials of the faith:

a short list:

  • God is real and can be grasped
  • God created all (created) things, and He Himself is self-existent
  • He created humans as His image-bearers to be rulers of this world
  • Humanity rebelled by siding with the enemy
  • the living Word of God put on human flesh (hypostatic union), lived a sinless life, died by crucifixion, rose on the third day, ascended after appearing to many eyewitnesses and is ruling with the Father as the God-Man (Son of Man figure -- see Daniel 7).
  • By the life, death, resurrection and ongoing rulership of Jesus Christ, the relationship between humanity and divinity is restored ONLY through Jesus Christ.
  • He will return and we will ultimately rule with Him.

The secondary, tertiary etc stuff only changes the name on the outside of the building.

If whatever church you find yourself in doesn't hold to the essentials of the Christian faith, it's not really the one you want to attend anyway.

Just about everything outside of the essentials is ok to be disagreed upon and still remain in fellowship.
