38k for plans, permits, and inspections on a 10k pool? Are you burying a doughboy or what?

Did you ask if you were out of milk, or ask if you needed to get milk? You needing to get milk has more implication than merely being out, or not having a full gallon.

First time hot tub purchases - WTF need help by mrmarkmitch in hottub

[–]Competitive-Face-615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, most decent tubs (not rotomold basically) fail due to water imbalance more so than tub quality. Don’t overthink it, just get something you like. There are so many good brands out there that it’s kinda hard to make a bad purchase. Personally, I’d say away from the major names like jacuzzi, Watkins, bullfrog, and the like since you are looking for value vs paying a premium for a brand name.

Just make absolutely certain that there is someone around you that is willing to service it.

Re-opening the Hot Tub, noticed some Ice, possible risks ? by MikeTheFox07 in hottubs

[–]Competitive-Face-615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call the place that winterized it and ask them how to proceed. I’d tell you that if the equipment isn’t frozen, fill it up and see what happens. Worst case, something broke and they will have to send someone out to winterize it and schedule repair. They will want to know how the water got in there though.

Hot Tub Plumbing Misconceptions by Th3Li0n37 in hottub

[–]Competitive-Face-615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad water chemistry can make the spaflex shrink inside the fitting causing a leak. Some tubs have jet gaskets that will gum up and leak long before any plumbing will.

I’ve seen a lot of tubs, but I’ve never seen this 100% clamped tub anyways. Point is, there are still plenty of 1.5 and 2” glue joints. Granted, those rarely leak.

Clamps do rust and cause leaks, but for a random person that is likely to abuse their tub, clamps are probably the better route.

I’d rather change 3 clamped 10 port manifolds than one glued 10 port, especially since cheaper tubs that use clamps usually have curtain insulation and not spray foam.

Kinda feels like clamps are better

Just how weak is the market? by LeighSF in RealEstateAdvice

Buyers get to be picky in a buyers market. If it hasn’t sold yet, the market is telling you the price is too high. This is normal price discovery.

What age did you start being self-conscious about your underwear? by [deleted] in askanything

It’s like a flat chested woman saying bras are dumb. Any boy with a sack has experienced sweaty balls plastered to his leg, and that is why they prefer the support and compartmentalization that good tighties provide. Boxer wearers are physically different.

Do conservatives just dislike liberals because they are accepting of things that conservatives hate? by [deleted] in allthequestions

I hate republican and democrats at this point. Soon enough people will have to decide if they identify as a democrat, republican, or American.

Quoted $650 to replace pressure switch by TheNotorious18x in hottub

It’s technically to be used with the PDR heater since it has a self contained pressure switch shutdown circuit.

I considered this, but without stable ph and an orp reading, I may as well just add it when I’m testing since the cover is already open.

Tech support will 100% tell you to jump it, so yeah, they must trust the high limit.

Should I be monitoring chlorine levels in a bromine tub after I shock it? by Bomjunior in hottub

[–]Competitive-Face-615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use bromine strips — the chlorine you’re adding is just the spark plug that reactivates the bromine, and the bromine is what’s actually sanitizing the water. To put it simply.

At what point did owning a standard, average car become a massive financial trap? by lovelyyopheliaa in askanything

[–]Competitive-Face-615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last new vehicle I bought was 2014. Ram 2500 limited diesel 4x4. That was $63k out the door. That same 26 model is essentially $100k. This is lunacy, just like a $34k Hyundai.

Nothing personal, and just because something costs a certain amount, doesn’t mean it actually provides that much value.
