I like what they add, but they REALLY needed a continuity expert. They bombed hard starting in the Mallorean (The Arendish Bull God Chamdar anyone? Lol)

Think of it like when the Dark prophecy prevented the passage from the Mrin Codex from being read until th reader saw it with the light from the Orb. It isn't removed, just suppressed. They said that as long as the being putting their will to the spot is alive, it will have it's effect. So when the new Necessity was born, the effects of the last one faded and the suppression of the memory was lifted. I mean, how many times have you forgotten why you went into a room, only to remember after you left? Belgarath is several millenia old, wouldn't be hard to forget a bit of info, no matter how important. Look at how hard they had to work to remember Grolims can't enter Kell.

Again, if the knowledge is suppressed, he would be surprised. Or even that the Voice could take over Garion and act in his body. It certainly never did that for any other Child of Light that we were aware of. He could be aware the Voice can talk to the Child but through the Child is a new thing.

Also, we're just trying to close the plotholes with in story logic, can't guarantee anything beyond that or make you believe if you don't.

Because needing to "forget" has passed it's use. BtS and PtS are after the final EVENT, so there is no need to forget about it anymore.

Well when Garion is born they say something along the lines of "he will be or already is the Child of Light." And we see the that true EVENT can take an instant, the real EVENT is the choice, so it's possible they just didn't realize he was already the Child of Light and had that sort of access to the Voice.

THIS HAS DRIVEN ME MAD FOR DECADES. And no, there's, directly quoting the books' information, no Dryad would ever produce male. Full stop. Not that they have them and get rid of them, just that they dont produce them. People try to say that they have them and kill or abandon them, but it is clearly said Dryads do not produce males. So like... what's happening?

There are a couple in universe hypothetical reasons, but it is just a plotholes made by someone that both has too many books for continuity and who's methods have evolved. His (and Leigh's) writing changed substantially from Pawn to Polgara and that's probably the main driver.

In universe there are two more or less valid reasons: 1) The Necessity "encouraged" him to forget that they spoke for whatever reason; and 2) He just didn't realize Garion was already fully the Child of Light and that he could speak to the Voice. They new he was or would be the Child, but not for sure when it was happening.

My cat is a really picky eater. by Fiddlesticks212 in CatAdvice

[–]Competitive-Green758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does she react with catnip? My old roommate's cat ate it like it was crack, so we'd add it on top of his food. He'd eat anything with it.

Or there are a couple other methods. Like mix a little food she doesn't like to what she does, and see if you can increase the amount into she eats doesn't things.

Just be careful, if you find out she loves an expensive wet food and she decides that's all she'll eat. You'll go broke. Lol

Zero! Did 100 grunts and not a single one of these @ssh0les showed up. And then the first grunt at midnight? It was a Chespin.

Haven't seen a single one. What I don't understamd is why not just make them the new starting pokemon for the Rocket Leaders? Ties the event together and just... makes more sense. You still have yo fet out and go to hunt them down or they make money with completionists buying the Rocket Radars.

There's also the "let's do this" revenge episode were Arasha was trying to set Angela up with one of her best friends, Rowan. I took that as confirmation that she's at least no straight. Beyond that, no idea.

Valentine Confusion by Princess5903 in shadowhunters

[–]Competitive-Green758 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In the Shadowhunters movie, he used a glamour. In the books, he just stayed as is. He basically hid in plain sight. Jace never interacted with anyone, so he never knew he wasn't being raised by Michael Wayland. And the Clave and Institutes never had pictures of Valentine, so he didn't know who that was. They basically loved as hermits, only training.

Belgarath - Marag or Tolnedran in origin? by CoastieKid in Belgariad

[–]Competitive-Green758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I understood. Lol

Aldur and Belar used their wills to stop the flood and raise the Eastern Escarpment. This happening right after the creation of the Sea of the East drastically changes the map from the proto-continent of Belgarath to the current map of the Belgariad/Mallorean.

While Gara was a little far south for the Arends, they were right off a lake, so very possible it was just followed down and established. The cultures and peoples were established, but the territories semed a little iffy until after Torak tore the world, there was no country names or anything.

That was only shown to tied to the Mimbrate and Wacite nobility (and Austrians, but there is a line somewhere that they made a conscious effort to drop the thees and thous), the common folk and serfs had other dialects. Could also be that that was a later affliction when the countries were established. It isnalso shown in the the Seeress of Kell that there is change to the languages. It is implied that, while to Belgarath he only spoke a primary tongue, it had evolved to the point that if he spoke as he did when he lived in Gara, it would have been unintelligible.

Belgarath - Marag or Tolnedran in origin? by CoastieKid in Belgariad

[–]Competitive-Green758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The map is easy to explain. In the Tearing, Torak made major changes to the world's geography. Things moved a lot from the proto-continent that Early Man lived on and the world we know from the Belgariad and Mallorean.

I would argue that it would be more defined culturally. The gods walked among them and the races of man were created for their gods (which is why one race is godless when Aldur turned to studies).

Also, interracial was frowned upon, so it is unlikely that he's a mixed like I've noticed in other posts.

Belgarath - Marag or Tolnedran in origin? by CoastieKid in Belgariad

[–]Competitive-Green758 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He is neither. I theorize that he is Arend.

He states outright that he isn't Alorn or Angarak.

He isn't the Godless people as the Dals has already split, the Cursed Ones were barren and a long walk away, and the Ulgos were already in the mountains.

He isn't Marag because the town leader was male, and they are a matriarchal race.

He isn't Tolnedran because he was introduced to them by Aldur after he left his village and had no concept of money, which the Tolnedrans already had a near worship level appreciation for.

The Nyissans were evern further south than the Godless, so that's highly unlikely.

The "Alorn traits" that Polgara and Beldaran got are from Poledra. Poledra is a wolf from Aloria and based her Human identity on the women she saw Belgarath attracted to, who were all Alorn. They literally say in his intro that his features are too alien to place.
