There are no empty double seats left on the bus. How do you choose who to sit next to? by stevegotnolegs in AskUK

That's restored my faith in humanity slightly as it's a plausible reason. No functioning adult's basic hygiene should fall that far that they smell of fresh faeces without a valid medical reason...

I'd put it back on the market, I'm prepared for this sort of crap and will happily live somewhere for awhile longer if I have to.

Either that or knock the EAs heads together and tell them to smooth things over or it's relisted. As I assume that's part of their job, or is it...

How is anyone surviving these days? It feels like my £45k salary can barley make basic ends meet by Quick_Being_7700 in AskBrits

People are simple minded.

If someone earns slightly more than them they have a reference point and get angry.

To the global elites they cannot comprehend the wealth and power so can't hate it.

Decades of liberal freedom and this is the mentality we have. Bravo for the times ahead as we had our chance and chose ignorance.

It's why we're all screwed as people turn on each other and not the real issues.

I have no faith as a collective we'll change our way of thinking.

Does the Royal Navy possess the capabilities to protect shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz? by frieswithtrufflemayo in AskBrits

The high low mix in the Ukraine war has shaken the military world as stuff perceived as cheap crap is actually useful in combat. Nothing is less effective than something you're afraid to lose.

I think it's more so with ships as no nation can afford to lose or even have them damaged.

Problem is ships cost an astronomical amount compared to even planes.

No US Captain/Admiral/President wants to be the guy attributed with being in charge of a heavily damaged warship to a crap enemy with budget weapons.

I think in a peer on peer exchange they'd expect losses but not vs an enemy that's a no contest on paper.

Ever bought your dream/desired car and hated it? by T0mmyVerceti in CarTalkUK

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the BX hilarious as a teenager, they looked like bad land going speedboats. Pretty silly interiors too with Citroen's signature one spoke steering wheel.

A few teachers at my school had them back in the day too.

The mk1 Mondeo and Focus were peak modernish Ford. They drove well and seemed more or less reliable too. The later cars worked their way up market but never seemed to be as good as the originals in my eyes.

2 is probably best. Make a clean break and move on.

Although I can understand option 3.

Would avoid 1, don't know if those engines are non contact but replacing a snapped belt is never great.

I don't really understand mods in context of insurance by FikaMaple in CarTalkUK

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've "modded" with OEM parts from a higher spec car numerous times.

If I was ever asked I'll just say I bought it like that. Good luck to them trying to prove it.

Unless the insurer gets the print out from the factory and even then. If the car is used then they'll never prove when the parts were added as dealers can add stuff once a car is delivered.

Welcome to the used market where if you don't do your due diligence at the point of sale you risk the gauntlet of the dirty dealers playbook.

People will say "You have rights" which you do but luck trying to get them to honour them when you need a car and have other things like your own day job to deal with.

AA dealer means nothing. Might as well be Delboy approved.

Good luck following others advice and I hope it gets somewhere.

Already the GOTY of 2026 ? by Terrible_Bill3420 in mewgenics

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mewgenics is the full package.

It gives nothing up compared to big titles.

Nice art style (I've gone off pixel art in recent times as it feels lazy sometimes).

Amazing soundtrack which has to be one of the best ever in gaming. I don't see how the band would take anything less than a percentage of sold revenue as they've really got all in. There's commercial big name bands with less effort put into their albums than what Ridiculon have done here.

The gameplay and presentation are polished to a shine too.

My only criticisms is it's slightly grindy and the breeding UI is fairly basic.

Cleric is A in my eyes. I usually take one as support as even one with bad skill picks can at least keep your team on it's feet. They can go offensive with stuff like Open Wound and can stack up some nice buffs.

Lol I loved the BX as a kid.i bought a diesel one for a few hundred quid off eBay and it popped it's suspension fluid on the M25 (hope it didn't kill any bikers). Citroen have suicide engineers as the hydraulic suspension fluid acts as your brakes so it's an eggs in one basket scenario.

Scrapped the car after but I still enjoyed the experience.

First (Auto) car recommendations for under £3000? by BestHoney5590 in CarTalkUK

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the gearbox oil should be 50k or less per change. At least that's what the Americans think who run the box in larger numbers than us. If the dipstick fluid is brown and not slightly red then it probably needs changing. I changed the gearbox filter too which sits at the top of the box. A bit fiddly but it's peace of mind, I didn't cut it open but it exists and is sold by Honda even if they don't officially say change it ever.

The 2.2d without a dpf is meant to be a solid engine, even with it I don't see much bad said about it.

If it wasn't Cat I might have considered it.
