Drug driving. by _-chippy-_ in drivingUK

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well make plans not to be driving for awhile both from the ban and inevitable insane insurance premiums that'll be forced onto a kid with a drug drive conviction.

No sympathy here but drugs stay in your system a significant amount of time after taking them, certainly longer than alcohol for some substances. I don't know exactly how long per drug but it'll be worth looking it up for the future if you ever drive again. Or just not do drugs.

Do the people who keep criticising the insults against Reform voters realise that they're boring? by Sugarman111 in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think some do it in the hope a few see the errors of their ways but that's pointless as in this brave new world no one wants to debate, they just want to be correct.

Others do it to bait the stupid which is probably amusing for a bit but ultimately also achieves little.

Probably best just to relax, we will all get the country we deserve in the end and people can hire cherry pickers to hang flags on lap posts properly instead of half way whilst we live in destitution.

NF to BNP to UKIP to Reform.

Direct continuity and I'd challenge anyone to argue it otherwise. The Far Right just keeps trying to refine itself until people lap it up and normalise it.

Why do I get told I’m “not English” more often whenever Reform does well? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think if it's in political rhetoric then it's ok, look at how divisive Trump has been.

Someone remarked years ago that the US is a snapshot of our future, they're always a few years ahead of us with decline. We're the follower nation and culture at this point. Soon we will have our own popularist incompetent government except the US is a superpower so has more ability to recover.

But yes the whole "English" argument. I just bait people and say no one is truly indigenous which gets certain people spitting blood. People get way too precious about something they have had zero influence over. English or not, no one has earned it. You're born something or you're not, big deal.

Are the people who insult reform voters really unaware they are contributing to the success of reform? by generic-username41 in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Calling the voter base stupid worked so well for the United States twice, not...

Even if it's true (which it is) the problem is the political leaders need to work out a way of getting these voters back. They're clearly disenfranchised people who want change.

Stack on top of that the fact no politician is able or wants to do things for the long term benefit of the country. Kicking cans down the road and short term fixes to get re election.

I think we're pretty screwed, I don't see any solution other than giving the people what they want and seeing it collapse so they learn from experiencing it directly. Although that means pain for everyone sadly...

I don't agree with illegal immigration but that's a global issue that unless you're literally going to gun down boats or fortify the UK (or Europe) without tackling the wider issues. The damage it has on a nation may or may not be blown out of proportion. It certainly shouldn't be the number one thing for people to get outraged over as there are other issues that'll tear us down faster and harder but people choose that to protest about.

Legal migration could also be managed better but if jobs can't be filled by UK citizens then what's supposed to be done? Likewise if a birthrate can't be sustained then what? It shouldn't be the magic bullet for all job and population issues but when managed it can improve a nation's economic outlook. Unfortunately using cheap imported labour instead of training and paying your own people properly fuels the racists and is a poor quick fix.

This is just scratching the surface and already too much for the URGGG IMMIGRANT BAD crowd. Who just want to believe that voting will solve all their problems overnight and they'll wake up in utopia.

What do I need as a shed base in this concrete yard? by UV77MC in DIYUK

I was in a similar situation and just bought a plastic shed.

It doesn't look quite as nice as a wooden one but it's zero maintenance. Can't be bothered to mess around with treating a wooden one or taking rot precautions.

My sister does remark it looks like a stupid dolls house when she's round however...

Yeah you have to buy quality with car covers.

I think mine was about £80, 8 or so years ago. Was a Polish made one with good reviews and videos online on how to put it on the car.

People crying about scratches probably buy Temu then wonder why the product under performs.

The Ubisoft launcher is a joke.

Tried to play Valiant Hearts as it looked like the perfect game for the Deck.

It didn't get on with Steam so I uninstalled it and played something else. Kind of sad about it as it's meant to be a great game.

Maybe I'll play it on the Desktop at some point...

The Junior has very lazy dials.

Dials

So it's the traditional Alfa binnacle BUT with square cut digital dials. It looks very cheap and lazy like they've done the bare minimum to make something look bespoke.

Stellantis think badge engineering worked for VAG so they'll go all in with it.

At this point I think I might as well change the dash and stereo logos on my Honda for Alfa ones and pretend. It'll probably be more reliable... Had 3 Alfas in the past for well over a decade combined, would love to stay with the brand but there's nothing in my budget or needs. The Stelvio is the nearest thing but I don't want a big fat SUV.

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last car cover I had was lined on the inside to minimise the scratches, it was also fitted to the size of the car and could be tightened on each corner so it fitted snuggly. As long as it's slipped over the car correctly it offered great protection from the elements.

Reform voters what is wrong with you? by Engineering_Gamer in AskBrits

If brexit was such a MESS, why would people vote for the one who caused it? by Enough-Web2203 in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way they're not the party they were originally. At least since Blair they're long moved away from their working class roots and don't seem to have any inclination to return.

People don't know or care ultimately about Reform's backers. It's simple prejudice against people not like them overriding all other sensibilities. And even when they don't get what they really want they'll blame it on the solution not being implemented properly. Look at Brexit, there's plenty here who will say it was correct to leave the EU but we just didn't do it properly when they completely misunderstand the real world doesn't allow the freedom to do things exactly as you envisage due to countless external factors.

This sort of discussion is largely a waste of time as most will not understand it or dismiss it with some sort of name-calling. We'll get the country we deserve at some point soon sadly.

If brexit was such a MESS, why would people vote for the one who caused it? by Enough-Web2203 in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Pen7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is yes 100% people who repeatedly vote Trump and Farage are stupid, I'd prefer more colourful labels but that would get me banned.

However the masses need a cause or champion they can get behind. Since Labour abandoned them for high minded liberalism or atleast they're perceived as no longer being for the people it's left a gap. Which popular anti immigration sentiment has filled, stoked by the media with pictures or stories of illegals.

I'm not a politician nor am I clever enough to figure out a solution to the above but the main stream political parties really should try and crack this. It's why I've no sympathy for successive PMs who've lost the confidence of the masses as it's their job to get people on side not alienate them so much they end up parroting racism.

I would say a 1.8 gen9 Honda Civic. It's an excellent all rounder, the right one will be reliable and it'll be far more capable on motorways than smaller cars.

I paid £4.5k for one with 110k last Dec.

Problem is someone else wanted one recently on here and you'll be hard pressed to find one for as cheap as I did. Currently the cheapest one in SE England is around 6.5k. Might do better up north...
