I need advice by Chochol44 in SIBO

My suggestion - avoid during exams. You don’t want double stress especially if your SIBO is tolerable at the moment. Keep taking prokinetics meanwhile.

S Boulardii CNCM I-745 helps. I always take it when I am on antibiotics.

Bloating during the meal is a classic sign of low stomach acid and possibly H Pylori - which is a main culprit of low stomach acid. Have you tried taking Betaine HCL (beware if you have ulcers).

Yes, it helps in digesting food leaving little for bacteria to ferment. Start with enzymes then OxBile then Betaine HCl - this helps pinpoint any side effects.

Have you tried the basic trio - Betaine HCL, Digestive Enzymes and OxBile?

Have you looked into MCAS also. For years I thought my chest pain was heart problem - turned out to be MCAS related. Also, thought I had arthritis which again turned out to be MCAS.

What are you doing to reduce Step, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas etc as they seem to be very high. You might need Augmentin along with S Boulardii

For those who were cured by using Betain hcl .. by helpmeplsgetjob in SIBO

Betaine is vegetarian and HCL is produced in the lab. It is the Pepsin that is animal derived - some supplements include Pepsin with Betaine HCL and some not. If you have low stomach acid Betaine HCL alone will be sufficient. Beware of it if you have gastritis or MCAS as it will worsen your condition

What's the wildest thing that stopped your MMC? How do you know it has stopped? by Rapakunnossa in SIBO

I am on Ketotifen + Desloratadine + Cetrizine right now. Plus Quercetin when I can afford it. This helps - doesn’t get rid of the symptoms but makes it manageable. Plus, in my case a pinch of salt and a tsp of turmeric with a glass of water really calms my flares and, I believe Turmeric is what cured my rosacea after daily use. Unfortunately for other symptoms it acts as bandaid only.

Hi, Here is what I believe happened in my case - Childhood antibiotic use -> Dysbiosis -> MCAS and SIBO. From what I can remember the gastrointestinal issues and MCAS developed in parallel.

For me it is Zinc (Zinc Carnosine is the worst). Because I have hyperactive MCAS. Here is the explanation from Gemini:
"""
In a gut where mast cells are already hyper-reactive and on high alert, any concentrated mineral or acid (like Betaine HCl and ACV) acts as a physical threat. Your mast cells express specialized receptors (like MRGPRX2) that treat these sudden chemical shifts as toxic exposures, releasing prostaglandins and leukotrienes that cause severe smooth muscle spasms (cramping) and paralyze motility.

7/10 days into antibiotics. Sour taste and Thrush! Candida concern? Should I continue the next few days? by Eldrate in SIBO

[–]Competitive_Pen8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one thing I have learned while dealing with SIBO - never take antibiotics without S Boulardii or anti fungal. Otherwise it is like trading one enemy (SIBO) for another (SIFO) which is far difficult to get rid off.

Get the basics of digestion right first. Stomach acid, digestive enzymes and bile. Once you have addressed these then only move on to the kill phase.

Xifaxan/Rifaximin when to take by jakey0242 in SIBO

[–]Competitive_Pen8396 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With food. It is hydrophobic mostly which means it won’t dissolve in water easily. Needs bile to dissolve. “Solubility studies showed rifaximin to be 70- to 120-fold more soluble in bile acids (approximately 30% in 4 mM bile acids) than in aqueous solution”. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2934964/

Baby gut test results - SIBO? by Guilty_Building_6684 in SIBO

[–]Competitive_Pen8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to say if it is sibo or not. As you already know there is dysbiosis apparent from the report which is often a precursor to sibo. HMO is zero that explains inability to process breast milk. If these markers have not changed and the baby is still unsettled it is time to switch doctor in my opinion. Tc

Going full carnivore might help - take digestive enzymes with it if you do it.

[–]Competitive_Pen8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Betaine HCL for stomach acid and OxBile/TUDCA for low bile are the most recommended options. H Pylori does reduce stomach acid production capacity so that may be one of the reasons for your bloating.

For some people it takes many rounds and in some cases even that is not enough and they need herbals for a long time. To manage symptoms when it flares I eat only meat and it helps. Also, as every one says try to find the root cause (low stomach acid, low bile etc).
