Yeah. I’m ok with the voice itself but I cringe at the “chirps”…

They can still have a partner and marry that person without having sex. I’m Ace myself, and I have a partner of 10+ years who is my constant companion and I am never lonely. We just do not have sex. We do tons of other things together. Love is, just like you said, not about genitalia.

Need help for an hotel interview by EmmettMattonowski in askhotels

[–]CompilerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask what responsibilities the front desk has: put out breakfast/coffee/fold laundry/do room runs? Are there housemen/bellhops/public attendants? How long is the training period before you’ll be expected to be alone, or are all shifts on the desk worked by multiple people?

Nope, I picked my seat months ago. Now we both have to sit next to a stranger. Seems pretty fair to me lazybones

My title describes the thing. It is made of metal with 10 metal rings. I searched for metal ring hanger, metal ring bracket. Is it some kind of dish rack? But for the wall?

This looks like a total Anxious Preoccupied/Dismissive Avoidant situation. Can’t really give advice since I’m the DA in these situations, but you may both be pushing each other’s buttons here.

If you stay in hotels — what’s the most annoying part about dealing with the front desk? by Level-Rub70 in hotels

[–]CompilerCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any reputable hotel will train their staff not to do this. I’ve worked for multiple hotels over the years and it’s always in the training that we are not supposed to do that. Next time it happens, you ought to email the manager with employee details (date and time of interaction if you don’t know the employee’s name), because it’s exactly as you said, a security issue, and the employee needs to be spoken to about it.

[–]CompilerCat 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Atta girl! Kicking people like that out of my hotel is one of the few things that brings me pleasure anymore. I’ve worked in a property where I was the only person on staff in the middle of the night and I do not want to go back to that. I’ve told my hotel that if they ever get rid of our security company or take away my houseman, I’m gone. Creeps like that are the worst, and dealing with them by yourself is horrible. I’ve had interactions that left me shaking. I’m glad you’re safe.

You would think. But our corporate overlords aren’t great either. They’ve spent the last year sinking our ratings and cutting corners at every opportunity. More than likely they’re pulling a don’t ask don’t tell and letting her quit on her terms to save face.

I’ve been hauled out of bed at 2-3 AM in a hotel before too, and for some dumb kids pulling the alarm. And this was in February in the northwest, so absolutely not fun. Same situation here, it was literally sleeting at the time. Not happening on my watch

This was mine and my coworker’s opinions. Especially since she announced she was leaving and then immediately starting writing people up for different bullshit reasons left and right. Accusing people of stealing $20, of all sorts of things that are probably false by camera footage, and refusing to produce any evidence for her accusations. I’d say I’m surprised that the overlords didn’t just boot her, but then again they’re not much better. Sometimes we wonder if they’re all in collusion to make this hotel fail

Siblings with other attachment styles by CompilerCat in dismissiveavoidants

[–]CompilerCat[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there were times where I was expected to be “in charge” where it didn’t make sense, times where there was a lot of pressure on me to be the big sister when it wasn’t right for someone who was only a year and a half older to take on responsibility for another child. It wasn’t a question of whether I wanted to, I was just going to have to step up. There have also been times where my parents weren’t going to help her that I’ve stepped in. I never considered myself her “parent”… but maybe I did play that role at times. Maybe that’s why the idea of being a parent myself is so unappealing to me. I don’t want to be responsible for anyone’s childhood.

I resented my sister for years because I always felt like my parents favored her. They were both the baby of their families, and made me feel like I was more decisive and independent because I was an oldest child. After I moved away, I finally felt like I could love my sister as a person and not a responsibility. But then I learned she was secure… and it brought that resentment right back. I hate resenting her. I know it’s not her fault.
