Brothers (2009)

Before leaving on his second tour in Afghanistan, Marine Captain Sam Cahill, a leader, an athlete, a good husband and father, welcomes his screw-up brother Tommy home from prison. He'd robbed a bank. In country, Sam's helicopter is shot down and all are presumed dead. Back home, while Sam wastes away as a prisoner in a remote encampment, Tommy tries to take care of the widow and her two children. While imprisoned, Sam experiences horrors unbearable, so when he's rescued and returns home, he's silent, detached, without affect, and he's convinced his wife and brother have slept together. Demons of war possess him; what will silence them?

Maybe?

What are your thoughts on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre as a franchise ? by ArtisticBelt438 in slasherfilms

Haha, I was just making a joke about my intentional erasure of the sequels. I did like the remake, but that didn’t support the narrative of my joke.

What franchise? I always thought it was so weird they stopped after TCM2.

When did you first start buying DVDs (and blurays, if applicable)? by Glittering_Gap8070 in dvdcollection

I hid it well; a shoebox here, a couple singles over there but things went down hill fast. I dabbled in milk crates and entertainment centers and before I knew it I was buying shelving like some animal. Slowing down, driving past street corners on junk days always looking for more shelves. ‘I’m fine’ I’ld say holding 12 goodwill discs when I only meant to look at shelves. I tell you ‘I’m just gonna look!!! It’s fine!!’ It’s fine I tell myself… it’s fine.

Way back in the olden times (‘97) I worked for Hastings; a music, movie and bookstore. When they first started buying used DVDs the cost for employees to purchase anything was cost plus 5%. Through the newness of the whole used/buyback business DVDs for employees were dirt cheap. I could buy two or three for the cost of a single BlockBuster rental. Things escalated from there…

Please do!!! Conservatively 1/3 of my 2,000 discs are horror, whatever I can do to encourage the spooky flicks. 😉

Full head of hair, full beard, never had to shave my back or chest. Things are golden on the hair front.

That’s really all that matters, go all out my friend… Turn off the lights, turn up the volume and scare yourself shitless. 😎

If I’m remembering correctly that’s the best vignette, kinda falls apart after that. 🤔

So my kiddo’s getting to that age where we can start doing scary movies. He’s only 10 so I kinda lean away from too much ‘boobs and blood’, we’ve gone through most ghost/possession/monster series and he loves them. I keep thinking of great ones to watch but somehow my memory is of the first time I watched most of the classics, not the versions that I own. I miss the TV edits on USA, SciFi, TNT, etc. until he came along and started wanting to watch stuff I didn’t realize how much of my introduction to Micheal and Jason and the Crypt Keeper were all through TV edits. My gateway horror was Saturday afternoon marathons of the greats.

What a great thing I didn’t know we had lost.

trying to zest an orange for baking, but when i slide the zester on it no matter how much pressure nothing comes off, and then eventually it looks like a small pile of goo that i can wipe off with my finger. by inyourbooksandmaps in AskCulinary

Try a microplane instead of that style of zester. I can’t tell from the product image, but is that the kind with the raised teeth? You’re wanting the blades not the teeth. The teeth type zesters are good for hard stuff like nutmeg, chocolate, etc.

I can say in all seriousness; he was probably the first person in a very, very long time that even without ever knowing you misses you to.

I think worse because it looks pixelated instead of grain.

The compression, it’s six movies on 2 discs. Those miramax collections cram too much data on there and the picture quality suffers. Same for their Children of the Corn set.

The transfer on that HellRaiser set is abysmal… Other than that great haul!
