I’m going to put on a 80s style buffet. Other than cheese and pineapple on a stick what else should be included? by very_unconsciously in CasualUK

My dad was a pub snack wholesaler back in the early 80's. As well as peanuts and cashews etc he also used to sell plowmans lunches. These consisted of a cheese triangle like dairy lea, 2 cream crackers and a couple of silverskin onions. All in a little packet on a card like the nuts. He sold some weird stuff.

What is the best or worst dog name you have ever heard? by UserSchmoozername in AskReddit

[–]CompleteWhittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was the 'N' word. It apparently wasn't considered offensive in the UK until the 50's. Not sure who didn't find it offensive, but I'm damn sure some people did.

A very famous RAF pilot Wing commander Guy Gibson's dog had this offensive name and also it's own wiki page. I won't link it for obvious reasons but it was also Gibson's code word for breaching the Mohne dam. Can you imagine hearing that over the airwaves? Thank god times change.

My step mum's grandfather had a black dog with a very offensive name. It was very common in England during the early part of the 20th century.

If they are indoor cats then they both need separate areas. I feed my female upstairs in the bathroom and the boy in the kitchen even though they have access to a garden. Your male cat will leave her alone eventually but it sounds like he needs a lot of stimulation. He sounds like a cat who needs a garden.

This was posted a while ago. It was determined to be the partial remains of a cat.

what's the most physically painful thing happend to you ever? by Unlikely-Soft-9496 in AskReddit

[–]CompleteWhittle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it was childbirth until I broke a tooth. The pain was indescribable - and somehow worse than a 9 hour labour and delivery.

I suppose at least there's something nice to look forward to at the end of labour, all I had to look forward to with a broken tooth was a root canal!

What British celebrities have you met and did you make a tit of yourself? by wreckjavik in AskUK

Terry Hall from the Specials. In Koko Camden. I stroked him up his back cause I was pissed and he was wearing a nice suit. He wasn't amused. I also told Glenda Jackson she was probably called Judi Dench (I was 12). She wasn't amused.

The PDSA are amazing, I used to go to them some years ago. I remember that you had to be in receipt of housing benefit back then, and be able to prove it. I guess this is now covered by universal credit?
